Only in population by percentage at the time. This video is based on land area. Persia massed at it's peak 5.5 million kilometers square, which would put it as the 7th largest country in the modern day, and much lower 'of all time'.
We arguably still have colonies to this day. We just call them unincorporated territories. But yeah, we were definitely an empire after winning the Spanish-American war, but everyone would rather ignore that.
During the time of the Roman Empire, a lot of the world hadn't been explored yet. The Romans didn't know about the Americas or Australia, so they didn't have the ability to conquer them. That's why the Roman Empire didn't grow as big as later empires.

To me the best and noble empire isn't one of a single nation's control over many people it is many people and their nation's unity in a just and noble cause of living together in peace while respecting each other's individuality.
I don't know if you'd post this request on either channel as it is both minor league baseball & geography......
It is by a channel you've done quite a bit, Geography King. The video is "Strange & Silly Mascots Based On Local Geography"
Is this a reaction or a webcam and a poster ?😅
Pursia empire is under rated the pursian empire was huge about 2 million square miles
Wonder how strong England would be if the colonies never seperated from them
What time period we talking about lol, if America/USA never was freed and everything before and after, Britain probably wouldn't exist
@@CKL-or4yz rephrase that please
@@nonautemrexchristus5637 ok, sry if it was confusing.
Basically, I’m pretty sure if the USA never had a revolution/was never freed, Britain probably would just be the island and no other territories
@@CKL-or4yz that's fair, a better timeline imo
@@nonautemrexchristus5637 well theoretically that would probably mean the Germans would be the dominant force in Europe (not ww2 Germans, ww1 Germans)
You need to know the author of the video is a Portuguese citizen so that's why
You should watch a video on the prosecution of the Mormon church, it’s really interesting
I wonder what would happen if Mongol Empire Ruled The world?
You definitely gotta get a green screen man. Most of all your vids the info or pics are blocked by your screen
I like the rambling
Ottoman Empire
Please react to the videos in the Geography Now playlist called Countries A-Z
Surprised he didn't list the U.S.A.
would've thought the roman empire would atleast crack the top 10
At their peaks, Rome was 5 million sq. kilometers, Persia 5.5 million. They would be down at seventh and eighth places just among the modern nations.
@@gengoosekhan actually that too or alexander the great as well. youd think theyd all crack the top 10 right?
@@danmurphy6290
Quite the opposite. If they rank 7th and 8th just among modern nations, then when you throw in the historical Empires like those in this video, it would push Rome down to probably around 25th place. Just looking at the first three listed in this video, you have empires sized 36 million square kilometers and two at 11 million square kilometers. Plus, Rome is often overestimated due to the Mediterranean Sea.
@@gengoosekhan ah thought you meant modern nations in the context of history! Who would be bigger than the Roman empire or mongol empire though? Russia or the US, that's all I can think of. If you think of those empires at their greatest extent?
@@danmurphy6290
Well, modern Russia, Canada, China, United States, and Brazil are all larger than Rome or Persia at their peaks.
The Mongols are a different story, they had a huge empire. No modern nation matches their 24 million square kilometers, Russia being the largest at 17 million.
you like big things i see . how about big roller coasters

I don't know why #5 is surprising to you. There are more Spanish speaking people in America than in Spain.
Los portugueses solo comerciaban , no civilizaban.
Los musulmanes ocuparon la mitad de Italia durante 300 años .
Persia was the largest empire in earths history. I thought this was a known fact
Only in population by percentage at the time.
This video is based on land area. Persia massed at it's peak 5.5 million kilometers square, which would put it as the 7th largest country in the modern day, and much lower 'of all time'.
I like how we Americans escape the "E" word, despite the Philippines, etc.

Rome never would've grown that big regardless. They liked to stay near the water and didn't venture too far inland.
Day 12of asking Luka to react to Kento Bento
The mediterranean terrirories of Spain came form the crown of Aragon, which had a very powerfull economic control in the mediterranean, to the point that there was an old phrase "tots els peixos parlen català" (all the fish speaks Catalan).
