I've seen many traditionalist say things along the lines of "dont fix what isn't broken" in regards to newer models of wooden dummies, but it seems to me a more pragmatic design can only aid in training and further developing the style. With this dummy, I think one thing that can make it better is a resistance level adjuster, so that you can replicate various arm strengths as people in the real world will be of varying muscle mass.

those springs should have some of the highest resistance you can imagine.... after years of practice, I found with my size moving considerably bigger and stronger people (despite all the different techniques learned and applied) is virtually impossible. A swift kick to the knee or strike to an undefended area can help loosen up someone’s firmness. but the idea of just applying a perry and moving someone’s arm to strike them ... well I’d say that person is just cooperating with you and typically that’s not what happens. So for me, I’ve found that the Wheel doesn’t need reinventing. A firm unmovable arm is what i prefer to train on.... then when sparring, defending or fighting my line to the target is nearly indeterminable. And should Uki’s arm give, well that just destroys them.... of course a trained opponent knows how to relax being able to roll their arm to prevent collapse and flow with incoming pressure..... 🤔🤣 still, i think this could be misleading to a smaller practitioner... so if the springs have say 75-100 pounds of resistance, maybe it gets more realistic......

Not really. If you hold both arms up, and I try to push them to the outside (meaning my hands are inside) it will never happen. If I push your arms inside (mine are outside), it can be done with one finger.

The arm resistance looks very soft. Grandmaster pushes down instead of forwards towards the center of the dummy!

It's so hard to be this technical in an actual fight when the adrenaline's pumping like crazy, your opponent's swinging like a madman, and you're in complete fight or flight mode. Learning some takedown moves makes more sense than working on stand-up game.

There's no resistance, a wooden dummy only needs slight movement, the resistance is what makes it work

Great dummy but then again using your reflective arm needs to have power so having that stiff block alarm is good or great and then accelerate if this makes any sense

The wood is made to practice at the hit he will not fight back or avoid. In the end, the grandmaster will be challenged in the losing ring, which will make you embarrassed

Lemah diluar tp kuat didalam. Smg wingchun sbg warisan leluhur kalian tetap berjaya.
