17 years ago? I can't accept that. Saw them at the Showbox in Seattle, was sold out but scored a ticket at the door thankfully.
It’s been at least 12+ years since I listened to this song and damn got me right in the feelings. The nostalgia is crazy. Hope everyone in here doing well. Keep pushing!
SAME I FORGOT HOW COULD I
nooooobody knows you
This song can never get loud enough for me
same . caant turn it up more the dial is maxed
Right???
This is also true seeing them live.
did we just become best friends?
Music was so much better in the 1780's... I was born 200 years too late...
U were born in the '80s? Ok boomer!!
This song got me through university, too many break ups and just as many beautiful days. This song will eventually kill me.. I'll be in my wheel chair and my heart will just explode.
I love this album.
I’m a 43 yr old black man. I love this song.
I'm significantly older than 43 (ah to be young again) and about as pasty white as it gets. I love this song.
To be fair, it came out when we were in our twenties!
Epic comment. We are a band in the PNW and love this song!!!
Okay cool. Wtf I’m white. Weird comment. You’re the reason race never ends.
God bless you
This song is like getting electrocuted in the heart, but in a good way. Absolutely incredible stuff.
17 years old!!!
Damn I'm old...
To me this is still one of the greatest love songs
Coming back. Realizing how much this song holds and affecting my life. Fucking love it
Thank you wolf parade ❤ Gen y millennial femme queens give you 🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤ we are celebrating
Someone involved with this loved Barry Lyndon. Respect.
The first lines of this song are some of the most beautiful I've ever heard. "Give me your eyes, I need sunshine."
Christ , you are easily pleased with lyrics like that... I suggest you investigate other songs for far superior lyrics.
EnosEverything Bro, what was the point to take time to insult someone on a comment that's a year old
*tip tip
EnosEverything ugh I hate people like you
Yes realising this is actual a very romantic song
Gold. Love Wolf parsde.
one of my all time favourite songs. so glad i got to live through this era of indie music!
Stanley Kubrick/Barry Lyndon + 2000something = awesome asf
I can't believe this is already a decade old. This is still 'new' in my mind. When I think about what was going on in my life when this came out, to think it so long ago, damn. Apparently time flies even when you're not having fun.
I know. Damn, times flies

Give me your eyes
I need sunshine
Give me your eyes
I need sunshine
Your blood
Your bones
Your voice
And your ghost
We've both been very brave
Walk around with both legs
Fight for the scary day
We both pull the tricks out of our sleeves
But I'll believe in anything
And you'll believe in anything
I said I'll believe in anything
And you'll believe in anything
If I could get the fire out from the wire
I'd share a life and you'd share a life
If I could take the fire out from the wire
I'd share a life and you'd share a life
If I could take the fire out from the wire
I'd take you where nobody knows you
And nobody gives a damn
I said nobody knows you
And nobody gives a damn
And I could take another hit for you
And I could take away your trips from you
And I could take away the salt from your eyes
And take away what's been assaulting you
And I could give you my apologies
By handing over the olive trees
And I could take away the shaking knees
And I could give you all the olive trees
Oh look at the trees and look at my face
And look at a place far away from here
So give me your eyes
I need sunshine
Give me your eyes
I need sunshine
Your blood
Your bones
Your voice
And your ghost
We've both been very brave
Walk around with both legs
Fight the scary day
We both pull the tricks out of our sleeves
But I'll believe in anything
And you'll believe in anything
If I could take the fire out from the wire
I'd share a life and you'd share a life
If I could take the fire out from the wire
I'd share a life and you'd share a life
If I could take the fire out from the wire
I'd take you where nobody knows you
And nobody gives a damn
I said nobody knows you
And nobody gives a damn
I said nobody knows you
And nobody gives a damn anyway
About your blood
Your bones
Your voice
And your ghost
Because nobody knows you
And nobody gives a damn anyway
You know I'll believe in anything
And you'll believe in anything
Because nobody knows you
And nobody gives a damn anyway
💙
Thanks
I heard this song in a bar at random. I rushed to the bar to find out the band. It has become one of my favorite songs of all time. It builds to a glorious crescendo. It either hits you or its too much beauty and harmony for your 2023 simple ass Cardi B mind.
Yo you should check out the singers other band Sunset Rubdown. Some gems!
I’m a 66 year old man. Love this!
As a Native American I love there style of pow wow chanting style of singing
I was thinking the same. If we did not know English you would think it was an Indian chant.
Doesn’t matter what you are to like something..
Totally! I didn't even realize it. I love it so much.
Exactly! The first time I heard him was "Up on your Leopard" from Sunset Rubdowns and I thought that he sounded like some American Indian singing I've heard. Beautiful!
Exactly as a native American myself I never thought this sound was achievable through western music. I really enjoyed it . It brought a sense of home and identity to myself. Goes to show how powerful chants are, no matter the language
First true anthem I've heard since "Wolf Like Me"
Can't believe I was 8 when this came out. 11 yrs later at 19 I got to see em live 🥰
It was filmed in Budapest, Hungary. I have just recognized the castle in the park.

When it comes to music, I know most GENRES.... And I am as eclectic as they come. My 20 year old son played this in his car as we were driving home the other night...
It is forever INSTILLED in my memory.
In fact, I am positive it has TRIBAL overtones and I am connected to it.
John Reed- sorry to hear about your wife.
My wife divorced me after 20.5 years --- 6 years ago.
I am just now recovering.
It destroyed me,
God bless all of us. The Human experience can get rough sometimes.
Bret Martin how are you?
@brett Martin I love you. Here is a giant hug and fucking amazing vibes for your heart to heal and your human experience to be full of greatness, love, and abundance of all things beautiful.
Hope you are doing well buddy. Music can be a great comfort if you let it into your heart.
I thought the very same when I first heard this track. Hardly surprising though, as I believe they're from the Okanagan valley in British Columbia.
14 years 3 kids
This song always makes me feel like getting in my car and go an adventure.
Somebody I loved very much showed me this song, back when I was about 15
I've loved it since.
It suited him perfectly. We don't talk anymore, but listening to this kind of makes it feel like we do, or we could.
The movie Spontaneous brought me here!!
this song + video give me such a strange, powerful feeling in my chest that I can’t quite identify... sadness, longing, nostalgia, yearning? wanting to be anywhere but here?
Me too , you must be my soulmate , kiss me my dear and let us RUNOFT hahaha. but I really do feel the same.

Valley uprising brought me here. What an majestic work of art this song is
They didn't have to make this song go on for almost 5 minutes but they did and I will always love Wolf Parade for that!
I made a bestfriend in college after spending the first month alone. We spent every second of every day together. I don't think I've ever talked to someone more. I listened to this song nonstop before I met them. It was a soundtrack to this inescapable loneliness that surrounded me. I stopped listening to it once I actually escaped my depression hole. Well I fell out recently with them, and dropped out of college, and lost all of my friends. I've never felt more alone than now, and I don't know what to do. This song seeped back into my life. It's so cathartic. I want someone to take away everything from me and see the world through my eyes. I thought I found that I really did, but life doesn't seem to ever let me catch a break. While I hope I never have to come back to this song ever again, it really is such a beautiful peace of art.
Hang in there my friend. Every day is another page in your story and there are good days and bright moments coming your way. Your story is not over.
My man I’m feeling you. I’m in my senior year of highschool and just realized that I literally have nobody except my parents. No friends. Not anybody that would care. The only escape I get is smoking a cig in the night with this song on. We maybe have technological advancements in these times.
But fuck it’s lonely.
Still watching it over a decade later. It is my favorite song and music video of all time...
Video is interesting eye candy in its own right, but cannot muster the raw emotional outpuring of this terrifically emotional song.
My history teacher played this song while we were working. Cool song you chose Mr. Miller
I was introduced to this song by my 8th grade teacher who's focus is also history! Mr. Kennedy was so cool, man
@@Billy-zf4jx woah that's so cool! :D
just saw them live a couple weekends ago in Seattle. made my year to see so many people turn out and going absolutely ape shit. even wolf parade was all smiles at how insane it was. I never thought I'd be in a mosh pit at a wolf parade show, let alone to this song

Holy shit. This brings me back to the 8th grade. I'm 24 now and wish I was 13 again. We're getting old guys. Enjoy life while you can
@Shaun Bishop 😂😂
Lol. This song brings me back to college. I'm 37 now. And I'm replying to your comment 4 years after you wrote it. So yes, we're getting old.
@Shaun Bishop horrible lmao
And now you're 29.
IMAGINE. That's almost dead.
@@shannonllewellyn7261 I’ve started to dig
This reminds me of the first summer my husband and I met back in 2008. Adventures hiking in the woods and exploring each others interests.
i listened to this song every day when i was in love, it didnt work out, fell out of love, and kept listening to this song. Cannon duels, wig pulling and wolf parade conquer all
this song makes me very sad for reasons i don't know how to express anymore.
The line “nobody knows you and nobody gives a damn either way” sounds scary to a lot of people but my friend and I play this to remind ourselves that whatever big problems we may have it’s not the end of the world. we are part of something bigger and only our egos make us exaggerate the importance of trivial matters. It’s something the stoics and the Buddhists amongst others employ in their philosophies . It’s grounding and while it can be scary it’s often overlooked and very much so needed
@@adancarrll6802 very true! i can dig it. someone who used to be important to me once told me of this song and a trauma they suffered related to it; i wasn't aware of the band and i never got to learn who did the thing, but any time i've heard it since losing contact with them has sort of punched me in the gut.
thanks for your reply though! i do suppose that cosmically, we're just fleeting enough to not need to lose sleep.
Same :(
@@adancarrll6802 very true. it's a comforting line to me.
Am I crazy or this the greatest music video ever made?
Valley Uprising was such a good documentary
Mason Smith same
That's how I found this song to lol
@@moyolehuaniCamp 4 duel.
literally what brought me here. ha!
I heard this on a TV documentary about graffiti in LAAX Switzerland - completely blew me away. Some songs just make you sit up and stop everything - this was one of them. An absolute classic.
2023 and still a staple in my playlist. What's a song older than 15 years you still love?
“Mugs Game “- Soft Cell
Gang of Four~Anthrax is still on rotation. I bought the Entertainment album in'83? I was 13.
I fel like a beetle on its back
And there's no way for me to get up
Love will get you like a case of Anthrax
And that's one thing I don't wanna catch.
Shit, I've got tour tee-shirts that are 15 years old. Lol.😂
Great music video
I saw them live years ago and it was so thrilling I was so happy when they started to play this
I think this is the greatest song I've ever heard. It feels like watching someone you love die and hoping with all your heart things will be different but knowing how it will end and you will loose them... I cry everytiem
I love the entire song, but the last minutes stops my heart. So incredible...
Recently started playing Dishonored and the duel at the Boyle party instantly made this song come to mind after not hearing it for like 8 years. Glad I rediscovered it.
I lost my cat of nearly 17 years yesterday, I forgot about this song for so long. The feels.
Just checking back 15 years later and this song and band and video still rock. Just a sound that gets better with the years. Wold Parade, Handsome Furs, Sunset Rubdown, Moonface, Divine Fits, and Operators are all still part of my constant rotation of bands.
Thanks for the others 🤗
This band helped me to get through my sad childhood. This album and Expo 86! Thank you! Love.
I hope your still here getting through.
This is still, hands down, one of the best song/music videos I've ever seen.
I've been in love with this song for years. And I believe ever word Krug is saying. I guess I'll believe in anything OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH..................
IMHO best song out of entire album. Good to know there are still people who take this not-so-fucking-seriously.
i found this song when i was in highschool and i wanted to unalive myself. "nobody knows you and nobody gives a damn anyway" used to hurt me and it clashed with the eclectic joy of the song but almost 10 years, some therapy, and some space later "nobody knows you and nobody gives a damn" is so freeing and this song is so freeing and i am so happy that i remembered this song existed
I feel the same way. It’s such a perfect dichotomy between pain that used to be and joy in the moment… it feels like waking up in a new house with light coming through the windows… Bittersweet but somehow pure unadulterated joy. Or something. Ha. It feels better and better to be known.
My Brother showed me this when I was in middle school, went through a lot and I’m just now coming back to it.
Same applies to making very Personal Art, so I've been told.
Spencer Krug basically created a Bowie-meets-Broadway piece of art that appeals to the cosplay set. Well played, good sir.
This was my moms and dads song, they didn’t get married anywhere fancy. Just a court house with me there daughter to see it. Car ride home, this song their song
Thank you for the company during my many teenage heartbreaks. I’m much stronger for them and will always love this song especially along with a few others.
you just defined my situation now
Arcade Fire covered them live yesterday was GREAT! First time and i heard that song glad i know about this band now
***** I liked both :D , ofc live its something else tho!
Back in the day before Arcade Fire were mainstream popular, both of these bands were the biggest local bands in Montreal and a lot of people thought Wolf Parade might break out first.
Wolf Parade have since said they did not have the work ethic that Arcade Fire did.
Despite liking this band, I somehow missed it, but Plants and Animals covered it, as far as I remember
I forgot about this song. I just visited an old friend and it was amazing...
I'll never forget when I got to see Wolf Parade live. Please do you ATTQM tour this year!!!!!
The actor who plays the duelist is fantastic. He always conveys a tinge of regret, once when he kills the second guy, and once after he has his whig ripped off.
The crazy thing is that he just walks away at the end. Just right towards the dark forest. This is some deep shit, man.
First time hearing on First episode of Drop out, based on Elizabeth Holmes. It pulled me in after only a few seconds that was played on the background. Love it from Southern California.
Same! I just started watching Drop Out, and immediately had to find this song. Now I'm obsessed with it and the video! Also from SoCal.
probably my favourite song of all time. has been for several years now.
I love songs that take a simple idea like this and just take it to the artist's extreme. Gives you time to think about something that seems simple.
One of the most fantastic stories that has ever been untold in a music video. Perfectly fits the masterpiece of a song.
I agree. Also, nice profile picture.
Nate Dogg Isaac Brock made these guys famous!
I will say something. The first time I heard this song ten years ago I was hooked. It is a masterpiece. Ten years later this song and the video still rock. Wolf parade are gods.
What a show in Quebec city. Thanks guys!
This is he first song I've heard from these guys and his voice was reminding me a bit of someone and I was bothered so bad until I realized what it was. At times I hear bits of INTERPOL's vocal style. Anyone else?
No, definitely not Interpol.
So do I!
Unbelievable lyrics, unbelievable passion by the artist singing the lyrics, and outrageous video as well. I don't know if their could have been a better music video ever made. Divine, amazing.
Michael go check out “when I was done dying” best music video I’ve ever seen. Also, the shit modest mouser makes is incredible.
it is an EXTREMELY good choice to make the video for this song an 18th century period piece shot like an indie film
"Give me your eyes I need sunshine..." Some of the most beautiful lyrics ever.
I found this in 2013 and I keep coming back. It's so good.
I passed up a chance to see them last October in DC because I didn't want to drive. I've had the feeling since that I might never get to see them live. Whelp, just found out they're coming locally in a few months. I've already snatched up tickets. I used to see live music once or twice week in my younger days. No time of late. This is one of the few bands out there I really, really want to see live. Cannot wait.
I have a newborn and he always falls to sleep when I sing this to him
Love the escalating energy of this song that you can basically mosh to by the end of it. lol
Now this is music that needs to be brung back
Thank you Sub Pop for keeping this video online after all these years.
This is my favorite video of all-time.
This song gives off a Vibe called "I got punished by a god i didn't even knew existed untill now and i can't do shit about it".
This song gives off the vibe that there is no god.
forgot this existed but now remembered i was obsessed
This is such a fall/winter album. I've honestly had Apologies on repeat since October started.
The content of this video feels like a dream.
2002: Almost crimes, 2003: Maps, 2004: Neighbourhood 1, 2005: I believe in everything. In these four songs there is all the energy of my twenties. Now I am following some directions, and I feel that something is right and something is wrong in my life, but I miss very much that kind of energy, that is youthness. It was similar to a unstable balance between reflection and action, I should recovered it in the future to enjoy my life
I feel your ‘03, ‘04, ‘05. Curious what came for you in ‘06. For me it was Destroyer’s Rubies.
One of my absolute faves!
How do more people not know of this!!
