  • From Georgian Jewels to Super 70s...
    As a reseller, this vintage and antique mall in Boise, Idaho has long been a favorite stop of mine when cross country antiquing, and you’ll see why! It’s a cut above the norm in terms of quality and variety, and I always find things I can afford.
    I was delighted to find that despite my late arrival (4:30 pm), the mall apparently has an after hours event the third Friday of each month! Lots of dealers had sales just that evening, and it was busy...I closed the place down and was last one out three hours later.
    Boise took off in the 1960s-70s, so those decades are well represented in everything from art to furniture, which always makes me happy. They also have a lot of 1950s western items, and just a ton of different categories of true antiques and vintage goods. The 200 year old Georgian Jewelry is special and seldom seen outside high end antique and jewelry stores.
    Anyhow, there’s no need to go on about it, it’s a great spot and a source of inspiration to vintage hunters, so watch the video and see for yourself!

    I am 65 and had taught for 13 years, but I never mastered the conversational quality that you have. You have such a wonderful command of language and a wonderful fluid style when conveying facts. Your laid back tone is just soothing and appealing. You don’t miss a beat in transitioning. Amazing!

      Teaching is awfully good practice but a little more distracting than just public speaking! I'm sure editing makes things look smoother than they are but I just try my best

      Rickey, I feel the same way. No amount of editing could give me that quality.

      Do you recall where/when she referred to me? I'm busy at a show at the moment and am unable to go through "all the things" to find her mention; I'd like to thank her for the recommendation.

    I don't know how I missed this show but here I am. I agree with you that hall trees were one of the most useful things in the house. My house is 1955 but I still insisted we put one at the front door hallway. Umbrella's, hats, mirror, I love it!

    Informative, entertaining and professional presentation. You know and love your stuff. A pleasure to watch. Could you also mention prices or show price tags clearly please? Knowing values is a vital part of learning.

      Hi! I'm realizing that even though I'm often where prices are retail that it helps people understand all levels of the market, so I'll try to do that more. In fact, I should try to review what I sell at a show sometime so people know what I got! Thanks for watching and the idea

    I didn’t know about the mourning eye brooches - interesting Thanks Was there some Whitby jet there ?

    • @TheAntiqueNomad
      @TheAntiqueNomad  4 роки тому

      Weren't those great? Yes, they had some real Whitby jet, I see things marked as such all the time which are not. You can tell if you rub it on paper, the coal will leave a streak

    • @lynnedelacy2841
      @lynnedelacy2841 4 роки тому

      And of course Victoria made mourning jewellery - and Whitby jet black jewellery popular - in her long widowhood. And the hair jewellery whilst I can admire the skill and artistry I still find it a bit creepy

    Hi George! I moved to Boise about a year and a half ago and go to this antique mall often and thoroughly enjoy it! I wasn’t living here when you were there, so it was really fun to watch now! If you are ever back in Boise and go to this store again, please let me know if you remember. I would be honored to meet you there. It would be great to get your take on some things that I would like to get. Thank you for this great video at my favorite store! Sue (Vintage AF & Goodjujuvtg)

      Hello there! I love that mall, and it was really fun when I went that day. I trust from your comment that they're open again, there was a problem with the building/adjoining business and they were termporarily closed when I last went through, which was really disappointing...I tried going to thrifts and vendor malls instead, and there was really nothing good! It's all in Overland Mall

    • @vintageaf3435
      @vintageaf3435 Рік тому

      Yes, they just reopened again I believe in October. They were closed for about 4 months I think!The old movie theater next door was being renovated and something happened with the roof. The whole building was closed down. The vendors couldn’t even go in to get their items. Everyone was happy when it reopened just in time for the holidays!
      I have booths at the outdoor Boise Flea and also at Idaho Expo. It was really busier this Summer for that reason. Another great mall is Eclectic Curio across the street from Expo Idaho. It is quite a bit smaller, but their prices are much better! If you haven’t checked that one out, I highly recommend it!

    I believe the scales was to weigh small children

    • @TheAntiqueNomad
      @TheAntiqueNomad  4 роки тому

      Yes, there were baby scales, postal scales and kitchen scales for home use (plus the ones that weigh adults)

  • @hoomalumalu

    I was going to say maybe the scale measured grain, but you're in Idaho, maybe it measured ore. or fat ladies.
