Thanks for articulating things and for highlighting the shortcomings of the squad where we are. Feels like they are struggling with the increased game schedule, injuries and fatigue overall. Hopefully January spells an opportunity to give us that much needed shot in the arm. And yes, so glad to see Ollie back in the saddle - he's been working so hard! Hoppy New Year Pete, thanks for another great year of AVFC analysis and obsession. Good choice for star performer, I'm backing Ollie to get back to his best in 25 and bag a hatful in the second half of the season. He is a grafter, a superb athlete, and probably creates more opportunities than anyone in the league. If he re-adjusts his sights, he can power us to a top 4 finish. I think the Mings -Konsa centre back partnership will tighten us up at the back considerably and IF we can get some goals from midfield as you say, from those that have yet to hit the back of the net this season, things will start to click. In Unai we trust. UTMV.

Cant outscore a poor defense but Forest are a proving point limited goal scoring power isn't as much a factor when you are defensively decent...Villa's number one problem is defensively.
I think the initial idea of defending was that Carlos plays aggressively high against Joao Pedro, like van Dijk or Konate, cos Konsa can save him if Carlos failes, but the it was Konsa who really failed.

Sorry, but I refuse to call Leicester a derby game. Derbys are not just geographically close teams (which Leicester to Aston is not anyway) but there has to be some sort of rivalry. We don't have that with any club other than Birmingham City. Sky sports, EA sports, the tabloids, non of them seem to realise this and use the word derby to make a game somehow more meaningful.
Can I ask all villa fans to not slag off vardy on Saturday?! He loves nothing more than scoring after someone's slagged him or his Mrs. How were going we don't need that crap till after the game or when he's subbed off. Cheers UTV
Watkins was never a natural finisher. Now his confidence is even lower knowing duran is no. 1. Sell him. He simply isn't good enough. The most wasteful striker in the PL

I agree entirely this is on Unai as well as he’s the boss and the buck stops with him, he needs to grow a pair and be a bastard and start sorting it out back to front before we drop into the bottom half I’m not buying European football it’s sloppy slow play with no intensity or pressure on the opposition.playing like a European team doesn’t wash in the premier for me it’s to high intensity. This team needs new blood and more pace and definitely a defensive injection.
