    For Fallout fans like me, the game box is very significant as an icon from the video games. In the video game, when you find a Vault-Tec lunchbox, it explodes and reveals a random object to be used in the game. In addition, the lunchboxes can be used to craft a very powerful bottlecap mine. The tin lunchbox isn't just a game box ... it's a reminder of this item's importance in the video game.

      Vault Tec doesn't specifically care about dweller's happiness, but they do care for experiments and if that experiment require them to not be miserable, so be it.

      I agree some expansion to generate some "Vault experiments" as objective would be nice.

    I played this game yesterday. I like Fallout 2 (PC) and Fallout 4 (PS4) games, so I was curious to try this board game. I like the graphics of the game and the thematic tin box. In the box there is enough space for the cards even the cards with the plastic card sheets. The purpose of the game is interesting: the choose the next overseer based on who makes the Vault dwellers most happy. There are many ways to get happiness: by getting resources and using them to get items (some of the items give more happiness based on the other items, resources, dwellers or spaces, for instance), getting rid of the threats, healing dwellers and building spaces in the Vault. Players may block other players by setting their dwellers on the spaces, so it matters who is the starting player (in the beginning it is the player who was the most recently underground) since he/she starts placing dwellers in the spaces first. It seems important to get resources, items giving you bonus to get more resources and bonus to fight with threats and more dwellers at the beginning of the game. Then the player has resources to build spaces which give happiness and more space. It is also important to educate the dwellers so they get double resources or happiness during the next turn. There is not just one superior strategy to get happiness, so it's good to see what other players do and react their game movements. The game is not pure strategy but there is some luck needed when rolling the dices. The rule book is thin and light: it doesn't take long to read the rules and get the game started, but there is some obscurity in them, like how to build the new spaces in the Vault (it is by placing a dweller in an elevator and paying the price of the space in the bottom of a certain space card). I think the game is entertaining and not too heavy. I like this better than the Fallout board game (the basic game without expansions). I recommend this game for people who like the Fallout world and who like board games.

      How is the replayability?

    • @leenak.5646
      @leenak.5646 2 роки тому +1

      @@BuzzKirill3D I haven't played board games with people much since the Corona virus situation. Instead I have played the mobile version of Fallout Shelter. I'd say the board game is a nice filler game: it's fun and doesn't take too long to learn or to be explained. Probably the best strategy is to get more dwellers as soon as possible and loot a lot of items (bonuses) from outside the Vault. Everyone cannot do the same thing during a turn, so one has to choose the second best option to reach the goal. It depends on the opponents what kind of strategy one can use.
      People who like the Fallout computer or console games may think the game is too childish compared with those games. They probably like the Fallout board game with the expansion better. And people who have never played the Fallout games may not know what it is about.

    I can perhaps understand the dislike of tins from someone who has a thousand games and, for the most part, isn't interested in the ornamental value of a product's box, but I think it is likely that the average person much prefers the visual and tactile aesthetic of a tin to a cardboard box.

    • @martinlarouche4418
      @martinlarouche4418 3 роки тому +2

      @@karaloca I'm with Tom on this one. I don't like tins.
      They are either harder to open (like this one, which i have, where you have to fight the box a bit to get it opened everytime), or too loose and the lid falls off too easily when stored vertically.
      They get damaged much more easilly than a cardboard box as they are real easy to dent.
      They don't store that well when put besides other game boxes vertically, due to their not square corners; nor do they store well when stacked horizontally again due to their shape and their needing to always be the game on top unless you want to deform them (do NOT put any other game on top of Fallout Shelter if you do not wamt to damage it).
      For very small card games, sure, i don't mind tins. For anything a bit larger, cardboard boxes are the best.
      Though i will concede that in the very particular case of Fallout Shelter, they needed to do a tin for thematic reasons.

      Yes, you can place your dwellers in spaces built by another player. When you place a dweller on the space of another player without a thread the other player gets one resource of his/her choice from the resource supply. In the case there is a thread in the space the other player doesn't get a resource from the supply.

      @martinlarouche4418 3 роки тому

      While i really like (and own) the Century trilogy, i found a New World really bland on it's own. I prefer just about any worker placement game out there to that one. Though as a framework to integrate the other 2 games, it's much better. The other games adds that extra kick it needed to be interesting.
      Fallout Shelter is a much better game out of the box. It's good without requiring anything else. It also has a more interesting theme as even non-Fallout (or Fallout Shelter: the app) fans understand it without needing to understand the source material.
      It has resources amd a bit of engine building... and offers a bit of combat on top of it. Most gamers out there will find something to like about it.

    just a small thought of the possibilities of the play sake.. i mean.. i really believed in Fantasy flight.. they really make a perfect boardgame gameplay.. and i don't think they will make this small flawed rules.. because i love Fallout boardgame, it's expansion and marvel champions and also loves this game(10/10 will buy)... and really really loved their gameplay design.

      Very replayable. There are many ways that you can win. You have to explore the possibilities. I have won games where I did not build any rooms (main ways people gain happiness tokens) and focused solely on getting gears so that I can deal with threats. Super satisfying to win that way. I also love the deep calculations everyone is making when we are on our last few rounds to maximise happiness points. There will always be someone who surprises everybody else with a surprising move in the end. Maybe that person wont win, but everyone was scared for a moment that he might because, in that 1 last turn, he managed to rack up so many points.

The additional resource if someone uses one of your rooms doesn't really add much, as we played on the resources became kind of redundant e.g you don't need the food resources once certain rooms are built... Rolling dice to spawn and fight a threat is tedious and in the end we were praying for the threats to be used (18of them) just to end the game... A duff 'un!
