Great video Matt & great guest.....Luke is a true gent, fantastic player & really does great in breaking down the fundementals of what he's doing & how he does it! Thanks!
Brilliant video. Luke Donald does such a fantastic job of explaining things to us run-of-the-mill amateurs, especially for someone who must spend 95% of their time with elite pros.
Hmm, must've missed this when it was released. But glad I saw it on the sidebar, some great tips here from Luke. Going straight into the saved videos for short game practice days!!
Thanks Matt, the way Luke describes the shot is great, hitting a nail class. Like everything practice is key but to many clubs don't invest in quality practice areas, especially sand traps. Keep up the great teaching videos 🥰
Love the content and the guest. I really enjoyed his master series for mizuno years ago. Have to say I hate the edit on the bunker shot cutting away before impact. I think everyone would like to see the impact point in the sand and how deep / shallow the divot was. Maybe even a comment on it. Thx for everything matt.
Fantastic tips. I would say alot of amateurs decelerate their wedges and basically stick them in the ground with no follow thru. I like to finish my shot by following thru and holding the club in finish position. This way you can adjust because you know you completed your swing. Also another tip that helped me from Lee Trevino is also maintain neutral position with your putter handle. This insures square contact with your putter face.
Matt, you are flying through these. Record it all in great detail and release as a 5 part series. Luke is very knowledgeable and willing to share (based on his past Mizuno videos). Never the less well done mate
Very impressed there Mattyboy! Lukes always been one of my favorite tour players. Awesome short game tips. Simple and easy to follow. Hopefully theres a long game follow up to this with Luke. Always admired his swing.
A question for either of you? The first one that Luke played with no bunker in front and he still chose a wedge. I normally play a 7 Iron pitch and run. Is it a bad percentage shot? Despite my 28 handicap I am still decent around the greens with wedges, but I do worry about coming up short If I play a wedge there. Great video, thank you both.
Definitely agree, lots of youtube golf pros say use much less loft, 7, 8, or 9 iron and get it rolling. Most of us aren't good enough to use the wedge accurately at this distance
There is no hard and fast rules to which club you should use... Getting the ball rolling out asap is a great idea and one that most pros will suggest, but the big thing dor individuals is play to your strengths, if you are most comfortable with a 7,8,9 iron then use those, if you're PW is your secret weapon, then use that, the goal is to get the ball stopping near the hole or even rolling in, with which ever club/clubs you choose.
I see that you mentioned the dreaded "double hit" on the green side chip, did you make sure to recommend this video to Rick after his glorious double hit chip when the fore horsemen were back together recently?? Haha I kid. This is a really nice instructional video, hope it'll help me avoid duff city in the future.
Thanks for the video Matt, some useful tips in there. Despite the great bunker shot, not much advise actually given in the bunker or chipping just off the green which is disappointing.
Gread vid. Luke Donald is one of my favourite players! Maybe I can reduce my duffed chip shots. What are your thoughts on bump and runs with an 8 iron or similar?
Trying not to sound like a complete dunce, with the chipping grip, if I swing using my putting stroke, am I using my putter grip through center of my palm also? Just wondering If its a full putting setup and stroke just with different clubs? Thanks for all the videos Matt. Keep them coming. Cheers.
Brilliant tips with a natural delivery by Luuuuuuuke👍🏽

Great video Matt. Awesome that you got Luke to explain some stuff. Also I see you and Carter both put out chipping videos for Rick.
Comes across as such a nice guy. No bravado very down to earth. Got such a smooth swing thanks Luke Donald. Thanks Mat
Thanks!
Thanks, you guys. Great tips, since most of golf is around the greens. Getting this right is key. Love the tips.

I revisit this video periodically to reeducate my brain. 483 puts without a 3 put !!
Favourite golfer great guy to watch
Like this former. I can learn a lot in a short time

That was too funny. Poor guy, his chipping game is terrible haha.
@@scoaus still better than mine though haha
@@drew2180 I haven’t played in a while, but yeah probably me too.
Luke knows Rick then… 😂
Followed these tips at the weekend and knocked off 5 shots off my usual score!
One thing I'd like to see is how to play out of a wet bunker where the sand is compacted. With the rain we have today it will be handy to know!!
Thanks for the video Matt, some useful tips in there. Despite the great bunker shot, not much advise actually given in the bunker or chipping just off the green which is disappointing.

Good luck Luke! From the Midwest-United States.
Love the analogy on putting. I have always had follow through on putting. So this was a good one for me. Thank you both.
