    Great video, what I can say ... I really like the first image. Also I agree with John, two 10 to 15 minutes videos maybe better for people with short attention span. .. :)))))

    Real shoots have real issues that arise, so I'm glad you included the flashlight mishap! Nice work!!

      Thanks Mike! Yeah, I had some issues but came out with some decent shots in the end and learned a bunch. My latest video went a bit smoother. Check it out when you've got the time.

    What happened with the last sunset shot, you didn't share it on the vid. Also, what s/w you use for video editing when you zoom in the various details of a still image (e.g. 6:10-6:28). By the way lovely 4x4 set up, carry on the good work, too bad for the adapter (what make is it/give us an update in a future video about how you resolved it - was the particular item faulty or you went for a different brand; cause I and suspect others are in the same or a similar boat of having Canon glass and thinking of trying it out with some SONY bodies). Keep it real.

      Thanks for watching! I didn't share it because I never took the shot. The conditions I was hoping for didn't happen. Sometimes you need to know when not to take the shot. I edited this in Premiere with a 1080HD timeline. Since the resolution of the stills is much larger then HD, it offers the ability to punch into the stills up to 100% and pan/zoom, etc. A great way to showcase the finer details, before zooming out to reveal the whole image. That day I was trying out this cheaper Commlite adapter. Afterwards I bought a Metabones and haven't used the Commlite since.

    Great Video, I think someone mentioned it already, but it was good to hear about the "mistakes" leaving equipment behind, racing against the sun to get in position, while trying to get that perfect shot... look forward to seeing more videos, will check out the Anza video next, great work, and keep it going. Thanks.

      Thank you for the support and encouraging words. From what I've learned, mistakes and failures are all a part of landscape photography. Sometimes it can be frustrating but it makes it that much sweeter when the conditions are right and that great moment is captured.

    For those who would do this shoot but don't have the truck/camping equipment, the small road-stop town of Lee Vining is on the highway just west up the hill from Mono Lake. The place is partially shut down in the winter, but there are a few motels of medium to cheap class on winter rates, so you don't have to freeze all of the time.

    Learned something new today . Sometimes I stack exposure shots (HD), but I had never heard of focus stacking. What program do you use to stack those? Anyway, great shots, Ralph. Thank you for sharing.

    Great job Bud! Can't wait to get back out to the west coast myself. The images were all spot on as well. My only recommendation and trust me I am a Noob at this to so it is really just a recommendation. Two parts. 32 minutes is a long time to ask people to watch. Maybe editing this as a two part video 15 minutes each, uploaded on separate days. Anyways just a thought, otherwise great video. Keep it up. John.

    • @WilliamHeimPhotography
      @WilliamHeimPhotography  7 років тому

      Thank you John for the feedback and I agree 100%. Although I tried to keep a good flow and interesting transitional shots, it really is longer then most are willing to endure. Especially since there weren't very many photos. I am going to take your advice and keep them shorter or break into separate parts. I'm currently editing my latest trip (with some great images) so hopefully the format is a little more condensed. Subscribe if you'd like a notification, it will be out later this week.

    Too bad that the adapter didn't work , I'm using the sigma adapter and works pretty good and it's not very expensive, I love my a7r2 I have the Zeiss 18 mm which is very sharp , you should try it
    Keep shooting

    • @WilliamHeimPhotography
      @WilliamHeimPhotography  7 років тому

      Thank you Alex! I think I forgot to mention in my latest video, at Anza Borrego, that I did get a new adapter. I bit the bullet and got the expensive Metabones one. So far it works great with my Canon lenses.

    Be careful when flying a drone at the lake . It’s not allowed. A group of friends and I were having a picnic at the park. I was trying to capture our group with my drone and a park ranger came up to me and told me no flying outside of the park. It’s only allowed inside the park. Later walking on the trail to the lake, we came upon a few “no drone” signs.
