- Many people have been asking for my thoughts on the BarnTalk wireless system. I feel like I can talk about it now that we’ve been using it for a few months. Come check it out! Also come see me at the farm progress show on Tuesday, August 30 in Boone Iowa!
Such great technology. I’m always fascinated by how much tech is in all aspects of agriculture. Great video, Carl.
I love it!!
Hog barns have came a long way. Between technology barn efficiency to hog health. It is amazing to see what hogs look like now a day and how the comfort in how they are house and cared for. Thank you for a really great video. Hope that you and your family has had a great summer. Harvest season is right around the corner
Yes I’m so excited for harvest!! And for sure they pigs have it pretty well these days.
As someone that have been in this channel for a while, this pig farming is news to me .....
Yes the pig barns don’t get that much screen time for many reasons. I don’t really want to deal with the pig barn haters all the time.
Love the technology.
It’s great!
Great informative system. A friend is a contract grower of chickens for a big company. He’d had to have a standby gen-set and 2 wells. 2 questions: as far as power, do you have an automatic backup generator that switches on to carry the whole load of all barns, as soon as a power failure occurs?? As to water, how many wells do you have?
Thank you
I probably would have done
that I want to water what I had to repair
it will last better if they are covered with water
because if one is dry and the other wet, it will not last
I knew Chicken Manure is rough on Metal, but I didn't know that Hog Manure would destroy Concrete like that.
It’s mainly the salt in the feed. Just like the salt destroys the roads in the Midwest every winter.
Good content. 👍🌽
Thanks Greg!
Have you thought of picking up those concrete slabs and rotating them so the wear goes on a new place rather than patching them?
Although they look square they are actually tapered so if you tipped them upside down the pigs would get their legs stuck
Very interesting compared to what an Indiana farm boy grew up with in the 50’s and 60’s!!
Did you have pigs outside?
Are there any penetrating concrete sealers that seal the surface and provide overall protection?
I’m sure there are but I am not aware of them
Where do you get ur pigs from? Do you by them or breed them.
How often do you change batteries and what kind are used?
I think the batteries are supposed to last three years
Hay I'm 15 and I just started a small farm UA-cam channel. Do you have any advice?
My advice is be yourself and be consistent. Show things that you are excited about and that will make the videos more interesting and fun.
Is it the feed or the pig saliva?
It’s really the salt in the feed that does the most damage
