Very nice solve as per usual!
    (Spoilers below)
    .
    .
    .
I got to COACT before you but I very much didn't think ARECA would be a word before you solved it.
    areca
    noun
    are·ca ə-ˈrē-kə ˈa-ri-kə
: any of several tropical Asian palms (Areca or related genera)
    especially : betel palm
OK, so ARECA makes sense to me now, but BARCA *isn't* in *most* dictionaries I'm checking. Well, except as a proper noun, being the last name of an ancient Carthaginian family. But it's legal in Scrabble (for SOWPODS/CSW or TWL/NWL) so there's clearly another definition... Some more searching tells me that it's apparently "a flat bottomed river-boat", from Latin's "barca", but the word but probably got to English through Spanish's "barça" with nearly the same definition as Latin, so still a small boat.
Will I remember these words being words if I have them show up on a board in the future? Probably not, but having now checked their definition there's now at least *some* chance of them sticking in my brain for a bit.

In fact, in Spanish the ç has been lost (unlike Catalan) so "Barca" is a common word in Spanish to describe a small boat, like a river boat.
I actually thought "barca" while watching the video but I wasn't sure if it would be an accepted word in English. Apparently it is by Squardle Obscure standards!

@@sonicloquendoFor non-brutal words anything that at least 30% of my word sorters said they knew was a word is included. Allowed guesses (ie the "brutal" word list) uses the same list as Wordle does (or at least the same list Wordle *started* with), so I'm honestly not quite sure of that list's origin. But given that I'm yet to find any words on it that's not legal in at least *some* version of Scrabble I suspect it might be based on a combination of multiple Scrabble word lists.

Sisal is a fibre like linen or cotton. It is coarser than those. It is made from a plant.

I know there's such a thing as rope made from sisal but I don't know what it is.

    Ecellent sole!
I know SISAL but this puzzle is way beyond my pay grade.
    Particularly because I'm retired.

Not much of a cat person, perhaps? :) Cat scratching posts are often made of sisal rope. (I've never heard the word in a different context!)
