I actually like what the Pirates are doing with Skenes. He is building up his pitch count slowly. I think he was around 60 the other week. They realize he's special, and don't want to ruin his arm. Maybe he will come up towards the later half of the season once he's at 85-95 pitches.
I don’t know why they have to build his arm as if he never threw that many pitches in college.

Throwing 100+ on any arm anytime is a ticking time bomb. The time is always unknown, could be the next pitch, could be 1,000 down the line.
So, if that line of thinking is correct, they should bring him up immediately. No amount of load management is going to save his arm, it’s likely getting damaged much more than a standard pitcher’s arm on every pitch.
They can build him up in the pros anyway, why does it have to be the minors? He can have a 60 pitch count in the bigs too he’s ready.

Pirates want to build skenes’ workload up verrrrry slowly. Pitching a whole college season and then going from pitching once a week to every five days could be very dangerous if they just send him up immediately

Went to Mike’s Beer Bar and North Shore Tavern during the O’s series. The game day atmosphere was electric, the food was great and Mike’s has the largest beer selection I’ve personally seen. They’re right across the street from PNC and right next door to each other. Highly recommend!

Yeah, I tried going to a Buccos game when the Phils were in town last summer and standing room tickets were $60+ in the 5th inning. We ended up at Mike’s and had a great experience. And it’s literally right across the street.
For other recommendations, it would depend on where you’re staying? Have you had a Primanti’s? Maybe worth the experience, but I’d consider Peppi’s if convenient and were craving a sandwich.

I said in Spring Training the Pirates secretly put together a great rotation. And People laughed at me. I know there is still a long way to go, but I wonder if those laughers are still laughing, or if they jumped on the Pirates bandwagon.

I don't know... getting regular national attention on various game broadcasts takes Ninja out of the underrated category for me. Doesn't mean I think he is overrated. Quite the contrary, I think he is rated just the correct way.

I disagree. Skenes is 6'6". Not exactly like Randy Johnson, but I believe Skenes is using his length to create the velocity. Strider is short. I would have said he was creating the velocity from his tree trunk legs, but obviously he was putting to much stress on the elbow to create the velocity.

ESPN experts mock draft had Paul skienes goiing 3rd right before the draft... I watched him pitch All Season at LSU and there was such a no-brainer he was the top pick he had no weaknesses...i just remember thinking to myself this guy is absolutely Clueless
I watched all of his games last year and interviewed him before the draft. I had no doubt I'd pick him #1 too. 100% agree

Leiter has a 7 era 😢 yuck. Either the outfield or the catcher was selling him out
He throws too hard all the time. The clock is ticking on his UCL. These guys are 95-100% effort on all their pitches. John Smoltz said that's the arm issue. If you throw 80-90% you are still at 94-96.. probably with more accuracy. Smoltz said he could throw 98+ but didn't he thinks pitchers are just using near max effort out there and that's why there are so many injuries. Orthopedic studies show the same thing.
Skenes is 240 lbs..huge frame..his body and legs do most of the work..I guy like smoltz and Maddox are using more arm..
Can't even be excited for Skenes career because of you know what. Sigh.
