Thanks for the tips. It worked. He wasn’t lying when he says if you make a typo just start over. The first letter in my password auto capitalized and I did this process 3 times before I realized the problem. Now the PlayStation portal can actually be somewhat portable.
Ok I just figure out the problem and i hope this will help those who are still struggling. After you finish following all of this directions, make sure on your phone that you are connected to your wifi at work, or anywhere else and then turn on bluetooth. If you choose bluetooth, USB only then it will not connect. You MUST choose wifi, then connect to that wifi on your iphone then turn on your hotspot, then you can click done and it will connect. It worked for me after breaking my head for a few minutes but i hope this helps someone. I was confused because when i saw the video, i sawed that his wifi was off so i had turn mines off too but it wouldn't connect to my hotspot unless i chose wifi option when enabling the hotspot option.
What if you don’t have WiFi at work ? Or do we just have to connect to WiFi only to set up manually. I’m at work tryna use my hotspot but it’s not letting me connect. Do I have to go home first to set up the hotspot with my WiFi

i live in europe and i keep getting something went wrong. i followed your steps and it connected to my hotspot but getting it connected with my playstation is a whole different story.
I have the same problem, i could always be able to connect to the hotspot, but when i try to connect to the ps5, it doesn't let me to connect. when i use my home wifi it works fine, i think might be a problem of compatibility with the router perhaps

Sadly doesn’t work for me. Have an iPhone 15pro max on T-Mobile, good signal. I follow all the steps but it says it “cannot find the WiFi network. The WiFi network signal might be too weak or the SSID/security method might not be correct”. At this point my portal is not much more than a paperweight since my work WiFi blocks it.

I’ve followed these steps perfectly and I still get an error message saying something went wrong. It won’t connect to my iPhone hotspot at all if I try and enter the info manually, even though all the info is correct.

You guys need to change your iPhone’s name to where it does not include an apostrophe. Go to Settings, General, About, Name and take off the apostrophe. For example Vinh’s iPhone is now Vinh. Which is how I managed to get this working.

Right before you hit done double check and make sure your iPhone Hotspot is in discovery mode. during the number entry process, the iPhone would turn off discovery to connect within 1 min. You can double check by going into the control center and long pressing the connections(wifi, cellular) folder and making sure hotspot says discoverable. Hope this helps 🫡
What speeds are you getting on your home WiFi? I’m running 5G, full bars on my hotspot (340 down, 80 up on speed test). About 160mbps at home for ps5. Not getting a solid connection. Though you did fix the issue of me connecting to the hotspot in the first place!

@@TechMarkGaming this is so dumb. I kept changing my iPhone name and password and finally got it to work. I changed my iPhone name to 3 letters and changed my password to “PlayStation” and it worked after at least 100 tries 🤨
It's probably a slow internet connection. Try putting your phone in airplane mode for 10 secs then turn celluar back on. This will reset your Hotspot network.
Still not able to connect to ps5 on hotspot. Just get the “something went wrong” message when trying to connect. Restarted the portal and confirmed settings are correct on PS5. When connecting it will turn the PS5 on from the portal but never connects.

For those of you who cannot get it to connect after doing the setting changes, I had to update my software on my phone and then restart it. After that it worked perfectly

I believe that the entire t-mobile phone Hotspot and home networks are NAT-3. The Playstation Portal is a NAT-2 device. This should work the same way! Let me know if it does 🫡🔥🎮
Same boat here! T-Mobile home 5g internet previously worked for me 2-3 months ago (to remotely connect to my PS5)...but now shows "Failed" under NAT lately. Did you get home 5g to work?
Only for T mobile customers. My updated video gives a little more info to help you connect. So far EE, AT&T and t mobile works with this method. Hope you figure out how to connect! 🔥🫡🎮
@TechMarkGaming just to let you know for future experience and feedback, I have tried inserting UDP and TCP ports to my router for ps network and it just worked last night and i connected normal to my hotspot. I am using o2 internet in NRW germany
i am lost an the end, after i finished entering everything and i click done it tells me something went wrong, then i clicked on network settings and i check that i did not make any mistake and then hit done again, and again i get something went wrong, then i click on network settings, then i click on the circle button and it tells me 2 choices, keep editing or discard changes, im scare to hit discard changes because that means it will erased everything i enter in. So what do i do?

Did you guys make sure you renamed your hotspot? Make sure there’s no apostrophe in it or the portal won’t connect to your hotspot. I changed my hotspot name from “Vinh’s iPhone” to just “Vinh”. Hope this helps.
Can you provide us with the details on how you found this information out? I have the same issue but with my Verizon hotspot and I can’t find a resolution online. I wanna troubleshoot myself but don’t know how.
What issues are you having? Make sure you delete any apostrophe from your iPhone hotspot name. For example, “Corbjorn’s iPhone” should be changed to “Corbjorn” this is what got my hotspot to even connect on my portal. Hope this helps you.
I’m with EE I’ve tried this and it won’t work. Is the SSID my hotspot name for my phone? If so I’ve done this and still nothing any help is much appreciated!
Let me know if you find anything I’m going to report this to EE also because it’s unacceptable imo they doing so much gaming promo but the portal doesn’t even seem to run on my hotspot
Your SSID should be whatever shows up on your iPhone’s settings. Also a fix for me to get the hotspot to connect to is deleting the apostrophe from my SSID, for example “Gamer’s iPhone” was changed to “Gamer” and it finally connected and worked after that.
I double checked and I get an error saying that the wifi network signal might be too weak or the SSID/Security method might not be correct. I have google FI and my speedtest is showing 750 Mbps download and 49 mbps upload. Is there anything different now? thanks
Man I did this step for step and shit still telling me same error it will literally on my phone show o1 connection then I get the something went wrong on the portal. I’m also in a hotel and it will not send me the authorization QR code
Doesn’t work. I have tried everything and went through this video three times in case I had any typo’s. Nothing. It’s so sad I bought this device to play when I’m at work and away from home and it doesn’t work when I’m not at home when it is literally advertised to be used WHILE not being at home. & the only time it does work is when I’m connected to my home’s WiFi. The PS Portal is a joke.
I understand the frustration! The portal isn't perfect that's why I made a few more videos explaining how to make the portal perform like its supposed to! Okay where are you getting the IP settings what are you getting those from is that from your portal or your PlayStation or your network? You have to have you have to get the IP settings from one of those same with or default gateway Your default gateway should come from your actual PlayStation so where are you getting these particular IP addresses that you're telling everyone to put in here

Took the Portal out connected to my hotspot and works perfect no issues at all.

It showed me an error too, but once you go back to network settings it allows you to join

Plug up a Ethernet cord to your ps5 to your wifi box and your speeds will increase

It will connect to my daughters iPhone 15 no problems whatsoever

Quick question. It’s connecting and working but after playing my game for a minute it freezes and disconnects?
It's probably a slow internet connection. Try putting your phone in airplane mode for 10 secs then turn celluar back on. This will reset your Hotspot network.

It took me a good 10 minutes to connect. Try plugging your phone into the portal. That’s how I did it. I also did it wirelessly today to verify

@TechMarkGaming just to let you know for future experience and feedback, I have tried inserting UDP and TCP ports to my router for ps network and it just worked last night and i connected normal to my hotspot. I am using o2 internet in NRW germany

i am lost an the end, after i finished entering everything and i click done it tells me something went wrong, then i clicked on network settings and i check that i did not make any mistake and then hit done again, and again i get something went wrong, then i click on network settings, then i click on the circle button and it tells me 2 choices, keep editing or discard changes, im scare to hit discard changes because that means it will erased everything i enter in. So what do i do?
Everyone can get it to connect using this but T-Mobile is blocking remote play. Any other ideas ?

Hmm I’d recommend restarting all your devices. (Router,phone- update it too,ps5, & portal)! I wish they made it easier!

Did you guys make sure you renamed your hotspot? Make sure there’s no apostrophe in it or the portal won’t connect to your hotspot. I changed my hotspot name from “Vinh’s iPhone” to just “Vinh”. Hope this helps.
Can you provide us with the details on how you found this information out? I have the same issue but with my Verizon hotspot and I can’t find a resolution online. I wanna troubleshoot myself but don’t know how.
& this solution didn’t resolve the issue for me sadly.
What issues are you having? Make sure you delete any apostrophe from your iPhone hotspot name. For example, “Corbjorn’s iPhone” should be changed to “Corbjorn” this is what got my hotspot to even connect on my portal. Hope this helps you.

I’m with EE I’ve tried this and it won’t work. Is the SSID my hotspot name for my phone? If so I’ve done this and still nothing any help is much appreciated!
Let me know if you find anything I’m going to report this to EE also because it’s unacceptable imo they doing so much gaming promo but the portal doesn’t even seem to run on my hotspot
Your SSID should be whatever shows up on your iPhone’s settings. Also a fix for me to get the hotspot to connect to is deleting the apostrophe from my SSID, for example “Gamer’s iPhone” was changed to “Gamer” and it finally connected and worked after that.
I discovered something. Example is "Jay's iPhone" as a device name will not work, probably the apostrophe. So change your phone/hotspot name.
dies this also work when my ps5 is also connected to an hotspot instead of wifi?
I never tried that out but I've heard some gamers so this occasionally. You probably need alot of Hotspot data to pull this off longterm.
I double checked and I get an error saying that the wifi network signal might be too weak or the SSID/Security method might not be correct.
I have google FI and my speedtest is showing 750 Mbps download and 49 mbps upload. Is there anything different now? thanks
Man I did this step for step and shit still telling me same error it will literally on my phone show o1 connection then I get the something went wrong on the portal. I’m also in a hotel and it will not send me the authorization QR code

Doesn’t work. I have tried everything and went through this video three times in case I had any typo’s. Nothing.
It’s so sad I bought this device to play when I’m at work and away from home and it doesn’t work when I’m not at home when it is literally advertised to be used WHILE not being at home. & the only time it does work is when I’m connected to my home’s WiFi.
The PS Portal is a joke.
I understand the frustration! The portal isn't perfect that's why I made a few more videos explaining how to make the portal perform like its supposed to! Okay where are you getting the IP settings what are you getting those from is that from your portal or your PlayStation or your network? You have to have you have to get the IP settings from one of those same with or default gateway Your default gateway should come from your actual PlayStation so where are you getting these particular IP addresses that you're telling everyone to put in here
