That's a cop out. Most people will be extremely grateful that you brought them groceries. They are the ones with houses and credit cards. Why would they commit fraud? You're saying the people who are transients can't get a job that requires a background check that live in their car and are filmed all over the internet stealing the groceries after taking a picture of it at the front door are the ones to be believed? This happened to me twice. My security camera actually caught the guys stealing the items and Instacart did nothing. They had the guy working for them again, whose name is Joseph, and the same guy came and stole my groceries AGAIN! The company is aware of this and still kept the guy who is stealing groceries.
If you don't tip a lot before the delivery, the shopper will take an item (an item or two is always missing, I pretip 7%). Instacart wants us to not report the missing items, because if you report it too many times, your account gets flagged and you NEVER GET A REFUND FOR MISSING ITEMS ANYMORE. So we as the customers must always pay the amount of already overpriced food (they mark the prices up at every store, which are high to begin with), on top of a "service fee" which is different than their "delivery fee" if you pay their annual membership, and don't forget a fat tip if you actually want the entire order, which probably in the high school dropout mind of the shopper should be 20%. This is a dogshit system. Instacart deserves to fail. Hiring the poor and criminal so that they can make billions ala Uber.

I refuse to use intacart because they add 30% to the normal price of your groceries, and that doesn't include the tip. I just saw where one lady's ring camera caught her instacart person putting her groceries on the porch, taking a picture of them, then picking them back up and putting them into her car. That delivery woman didn't look like she had missed many meals, either.
This is why i engage the customer. I take pictures of produce and their weights. I make it clear that i will not make substitutions w/o customer approval. At the end of shopping, if customer doesn't answer, items not available is refunded. I make sure to send "i'm on my way". At the same time once i check out, i will not answer a customers " oh im sorry for late answer, can you...." No I can't cause i've done everything to get your items.

I had about 40 dollars worth of groceries, and they marked my order as delivered and took a blurry picture from some place. I contacted customer service and they rescheduled another order for me....I am still curious at what happened lol 🤣
@ charged me for items I didn't order and didn't receive, too. Kroger doesn't make reparations, either! My estimated total was $35 less than final receipt charged total. Receipt showed items such as ham, Death by coffee, etc. I'm an organic vegetarian, and don't purchase items charged with "substitution" note on the receipt. I clearly indicated "no substitutions" on my order. Isn't Kroger Corp. one of the two major grocery companies in US?
