Excellent video, but in regards to Huey Long's assassination, some historians believe Dr. Carl Weiss came to the capitol that Sunday night to confront Long. The doctor then struck Long in the face, prompting Long's bodyguards to fire upon the doctor, killing him instantly. the bullet holes in the hallway walls were likely from the bodyguards' weapons. Read "Requiem for a Kingfish" by Ed Reed, which was published in 1986.
i owned leon weiss’s home that he built in uptown new orleans in the early 1930’s …i bought it from the estate of caroline weiss…the house had some very fine features including an etched nickel shower door made by enrique alvarez, one of the artists commissioned by long for the freezes and fountains at the new state capitol…there was a mural that encompassed the entire dining room painted by well known louisiana artist “ drysdale” …one of weiss’s daughters wrote a book about her life , and her father who served 4 years in the penitentiary for fraud and corruption…it’s called “times tapestry” thanks for sharing..

We often visit the building in our lobbying efforts. Sadly the tower lookout was closed last time. But it’s still a magnificent building.
It’s so mesmerizing to have in Baton Rouge. Truly a gem.
