Mr James Baldwin was/is a literary genuis .. He was a standup man,, took no prisoners.. Loved him always. I thank my late father for introducing him into my life at the age of 16.

Baldwin never put his sexuality above being a black man. He didn't hitch the LGBTQ struggle to the struggles of black life. Clearly, he placed one above the other in terms of personal importance. I respect that!

      Absolutely right.

That doesn’t give straight Black people the right to diminish the struggle of LGBTQ Black people. You don’t have to deal with what they do.

@@BLTKellys Absolutely correct. I certainly didn't mean to imply otherwise. However, I'm definitely against any group that tries hitch their star to the wagon of upward black mobility.

Thank you. Take me back to the days when sexuality isn't aunt the front. He let his talent speak for him nooooo clout

@@lpurnell4827 why would you make up a straw man argument to divide two groups who are completely intertwined? No one said the black experience wasn't as bad as the gay one; we need to work together and focus on solidarity, not childish prejudice surrounding abstract american masculinity. Obviously slavery was worse but why focus on division between people with a common objective and common foes?
