    Surprised you don't wear spikes for track races, especially chasing for time

    • @kristian.blummenfelt

      Would be fun trying it out. But haven’t gone “that” serious into it. Not even sure if it’s faster or not ? Seems like the runners don’t agree on it ?

      @@kristian.blummenfelt I think in track and field it is quite common knowledge that spikes make you faster on the tartan. At least I have never seen anybody competing seriously with running shoes.

  • @tamp4x

    for such elite athlete, such amature gear choice for track meet.... the shirt and head band make you run hotter. the shoes already have track like technology for the road, so on a track they sort of cancel out the boost effect - thats why spikes are better

  • @thedarkpassenger331
    @thedarkpassenger331 4 роки тому +1

    Hiya.... that was a good 10k effort, given the pacer failed you that early (was that by design?). I am sure you'll be able to smash it at some point Kristian. A couple of final thoughts:
    - Even if you run-taper properly I suspect that it is hard to achieve a proper overall taper with the other two disciplines going on even if you end up going easier on swim/bike in the immediate run-up. I guess this has to be considered a fact of life for a triathlete;
    - You guys need to have a proper look at how to manage leg tension on race day. Running 11k in the morning, that slow for you, it just doesn't work.. it kills your legs. You are a 13'45" or so guy on a 5k no?... if you really need a shakeout 3/4k at 3'30/3'45" pace will do. Too long/too slow in shakeout never a good idea. Which might not be the main reason a race doesn't go to plan but it puts one at disadvantage to begin with. Peace out.

    • @kristian.blummenfelt
      @kristian.blummenfelt  4 роки тому

      Thanks for you advice! The pacer did a good jog. 3k help is better than no k help... so the plan was 3-4K at 2.50 pace. I where the one who didn’t have it in my legs
