You see it so often that clearly left tackle Morgan is being taught to keep his hands wide and hug. I personally think that’s cheeks technique. You’re gonna routinely give up your chest like that and guys are going to push the pocket on you, e.g. 0:47. Surprisingly it works ok for him most of the time. He’s got good natural balance and he does a good job keeping his feet moving though contact and he’s also very strong so he’s usually able to reset his feet and anchor fairly quickly. But it’s a different level of power in the NFL. And a lot of times you don’t even see him try to reposition his hands inside after the initial contact. I don’t know if it’s because having shorter arms makes this hugging technique easier or he’s worried he doesn’t have enough foot speed to stop a wide speed rush or some combination of other factors but how well is this kind of thing gonna work against Myles Garretts and Nick Bosas of the world?
How well does any technique work against TJ Watt or Myles Garrett? Very little do you see either get stopped regardless of height, arm length or technique. That’s a bad example. What you worry about is can he handle an average NFL D Lineman, not the top guys in the nfl.

Nice little return route @ 10:12. McMillan can sink his hips pretty well for a tall guy. He’s a little more agile than I initially thought.
