Discovery and adding many channels that are just old crap that no one wants didn't help any. Plus the loss of CNN a while back, not that I'm a fan. I don't expect FUBO to last much longer!
No. I can get my locals off the air. And even thought my locals are owned by big companies (Nexstar, Hearst, Grey, Sinclair) there not much to watch on them. They're all disappointing in different ways.
...local TV is Free because the costs come from Your Tax Dollars... It's considered a Public Service (regulated by the FCC as well) & is also the reason local TV has Commercials which was the selling point of cable in the beginning, TV With No or Very Limited Commercials, the reason Premium Networks (HBO, Cinemax, etcetera) had separate charges in the beginning because commercials were supposed to be virtually non-existent except in rare circumstances... You shouldn't be paying for Local TV though cable, streaming or anywhere else, period!!!💯💯💯
That's good if you have what you really want to watch. Many of the free ones have gotten better but don't have the best and newest. I've seen many of the new stuff the free offers when they came out especially Marvel, D.C. Comics and several others.
Yeah I know I'm paying way too much for what I watch. Spectrum is over 215 now and still have Netfix and Amazon Prime. I know I should at least drop cable since I only use it for NFL and the morning news sometimes. I know there are cheaper options, but it's already hooked up and dread calling them and have to listen to them try to keep me and then return the equipment, ect. IDK maybe they will give me a discount to stay though?
When we cut the cord, we opted for Tablo for local OTA stations and Philo for streaming content. I've looked at the more recent Tablo offerings and I don't see any reason to upgrade. *_Tablo pro tip:_* Tablo corporate will tell you that you must have a network connection to view local OTA stations using an antenna. This is inaccurate. If your Tablo is connected to a router, that's enough 'network' to let it pull in stations from your antenna. (Why they didn't think of non-network operation for weather emergencies I have yet to figure out.)
I'm in a hilly mountainous area and can only get ABC and CW reliably with my Televes antenna. I get about 27 other channels, but those are the sub channels that play old reruns. Streaming is the only way I'm going to get the other network channels, unless I go back to Dish.
The environment that Disney created, is the reason for their peril. Every movie & show since Rouge Squadron, could've been a billion dollar hit or top the charts, if common sense was used. Honestly, anyone would've been a better choice than Bob or KK.
Sounds more like a competitive to Friendly Scripts own ION. Hearst would be nice. But this feels more like a “very local” channel. As said…competition to Friendly.
@michaeloptv tablo is not that. Tablo is for antennas which allows you to record ota TV programs..Google it ..Zapper box is another for digital channels...we are not talking sling hulu fubo or frndly
All these streaming services are cable companies in the teen years. Once they get their license, they will be just as damn expensive...so already are. The whole TV landscape is a big mess. And greedy beyond belief, like CONcast and ESPN. The new "all in one" sports streaming service Venu is a joke too. When 2 of the legacy channels aren't included, hoe does that serve sports fans? It doesn't.
If "legacy" cable companies would offer a reasonable basic cable subscription (including local stations) for around $20/month and delivered over cable without a "cable box" it would be a hit - if that would be an add-on for say $15/month to cable internet people would at least keep the service for that reason. They've gotten too greedy over the past 10 years (doubling down over the past 5).
My local cable company, optimum, basically uses streaming with their next gen, the cable boxes stream from the main one ( and of course, they charge you for that). I don't think the service you want would be 20 a month if it included locals or for example Fox News ( which is one of the most expensive services on a per subscriber basis). Local stations have been one of the driving force for cable tv rates soaring , it is like 30 bucks a month for them supposedly. It is ironic, the local cable company used to have what they called 'antenna outlet', it was basically the local stations plus q couple of cable channels like local news, and was 10 bucks a month. Back then locals liked that bc there were ppl who couldn't otherwise get them could watch and increase their ratings ,there was no charge to the cable provider..now revenue from local access fees are how they make a lot of money.
The price increases are driven by sports. Sports price demands so high thet require spreading out over all users most who din't watch them to make it affordable. Everyone pays for overvalued players.
@@timothynorton6137 Basically yes, it is why ppl even want local channels on cable or streaming and why it is expensive.
