I’ve been listening to a your videos like podcasts while I’m working. Definitely learning a lot from you. I’m a guy who just sprays basic SW paints with an airless.
I’m able to get decent finishes with my set up, but it’s no where near what I want it to be.
Could I get a better finish with an AAA ? I know HVLP is super nice but I think my jobs are too big for HVLP, it doesn’t seem like fun refilling that little pot while spraying a bunch of doors or a big accent wall.

This is such a good question and a tough one to answer. I am honestly still figuring that out myself and so are manufacturers. Everything on my channel is on the bleeding edge of watebase technology so there are a lot of unknowns that still exist. . Most water base or waterborne paints the chemistry is pre-determined unlike solvent finishes. So basically all you can do is spray it on and it does what it does there are not a lot of variables you can control or change that make the coating layout better. There are some coatings that like air-assist or HVLP on verticals better than others. I am currently working with milesi, renner, and envirolak on solutions to vertical application. Most of the industrial coatings I use were designed for flat line systems. So they are beautiful flat but once you get over a 30 sheen in some colors you start having issue with how tight they layout. To get back to your original question would air assist give you better results with the products you are using. Honestly I don’t know maybe. It has to be tested on a individual basis. Some water base coatings hate air-assist and you can have all kinds of headaches. That’s is whole other topic. Direct message and I will send you my number and we can discuss.

Couldn’t you use an automotive LED bar light and get an AC to DC adaptor? I see them on Amazon for about $50. $500 for a light seems crazy.

Do you have experience with the mentioned festool syslight? Looking at the festool and the surf prep light for purchase and curious how the quality of light and output differs.
    Thanks!

The festool lights are great as well. Especially if you are doing field work.
