This song sounds like a medley.. actually the sections of the song are weird together but individually not that bad. They could make like 4 decent songs out of this, if they expand each sections longer into a proper song.
Well to each their own, I said what I said. I feel indifferent towards this song, at least I’m not hating.
For me, the more I listened to the song, the more I liked it. Like at first I was like ‘wow people are right. This is a bad song.’ But now I like it enough to keep listening to it haha I don’t skip it when it pops up on random playlists anymore

I personally blame the mv for the incoherence. Because if you listen to the song alone, it's really good. Don't get me wrong, it's still a mess. But a good mess (and I agree with the opinion that the more you listen to it, the better it sounds). The major difference between the two parts of the song in the mv is what ruins it for me. If they'd stuck with the first concept alone, I think it'd make more sense. Both of them look good and the budget was obviously huge, but they should have decided on one theme only.
Nevertheless, this song really stuck with me. It's so uniqe and fun. So far one of my favourite songs this year and I'm not ashamed to say it.

I kind of agree with this. Like if I would’ve heard the song first without seeing the MV I might’ve liked it a bit better (still wouldn’t be my favorite though). The MV itself was beautiful (although as atiny I’m a bit upset with JYPE). For me though, the song in combination with the MV, there was just way too much going on. i was overwhelmed in a bad way.
Also for the song, if they would’ve just made it 2 separate songs I would’ve liked it way better. I found in both the beginning part and after the first switch-up parts that I really enjoyed, but I just don’t vibe with it as much when they’re pasted together.
the girls are so talented but the mixing of the multiple styles is too overwhelming and the lyrics are almost incoherent, its really unfortunate bc if the sections were separated they would have made good songs on their own

knowing jyp, they're trying to play catch-up with sm. aespa's 'next level' was one of the top stream and selling songs last year and jyp NOTICED. i think that was the motivation for this debut but it really just fell flat. the mixing of the two songs doesn't work well but just the mixing of the track was not great. this is i think the first time they've really tried to do a concept like this for a girl group and their production team just isn't reaching the level it needs to for this kind of intense girl group girl crush concept. i'd have appreciated much more if they'd have just stuck to promoting the girl groups they already have because it's been a minute since we've heard from itzy. after MANY listens to this i just cannot get behind it. i think they could've waited at least another 6 months to debut this group because while i know they're talented, it just did not come through. idk, just my two cents

The thing is most of the time they make it work. Like if you can properly transition a song to a different sound and not make it sound choppy then I'm all for it but JYPE tried to copy it and they failed and that's why so many people dislike this song.

I'm glad someone said it! Why force yourself to listen to something you don't like. Personally I've heard it in reactions and Studio Choom and its still a mess. The rap at the start is ridiculous, the coke ad in the lyrics and the awful mix. The dancing is the only good thing.

Personally, this was one of my favorite debuts in a while. I think if you listen to the song on its own and not with the MV you might think of it differently. The choreo and the vocals are top notch and everytime I listen to this song, I love it even more.
I love the song too even from the first listen. I just love music that’s very different so it didn’t bother me. It has a different vibe. I’m with it.

@@radioactive_baby0706 I believe a lot of news outlets that are centered around kpop have covered the issue. namely, jyp was accused of stealing concepts and shots from groups such as ATEEZ and LOONA. it's such a shame that the girls have to deal with everybody's frustration for the situation when it was JYP's doing.

Maybe it's because when u first listened to it, there's so many things to need to absorb from it (the lyrics, the production, the beat, the song etc. you can't focus alot on all of things in the same time.

First off, I think the girls could be good. They have the talent, you can see and hear it in video. But JYPE really set them up to fail. But he took it to a whole new level. This song, if you want to call it that. Personally it's just a complete mess. I know that k pop is known for a beat switch up, but that didn't happen here. And I seriously feel for these girls. They train, learn everything that JYP wants them to know, they sign their life to JYPE. They trust JYPE, and this is the crap they have to work with.
And that's just the song. NMIXX and JYPE got their collective asses handed to them by fans (ATINY to be exact). The video you just watched, the treasers, and even the "storyline" that apparently they are starting with, it's all ATEEZ. The Pirate Ship in the back of them in the beginning. The 2 building they were in between is from their video "The Real." NMIXX's storyline is almost identical to ATEEZ. Even the young lady going through the wall, u can either see Somi's video, or ATEEZ's video "Incepition." And finally at the end, the continuation into the next song/video is something ATEEZ has done since "Pirate King/Treasure." And don't get me wrong, I am truly aware that the k pop industry has a limited amount of creative teams that companies work with. So much so, that several video can be "SIMULAR,' but here's where that one falls flat. JYPE has their own creative team. No outside or other teams helped them come up with this concept. And this is on top of (G)idle's Soyeon kinda screwing up and her sing "Sun," the entire chorus is a carbon copy of ATEEZ's song "Wave." She even tried to give credit to Eden-ary (witer/producer for KQ) and apologized, however Eden-ary said that it was OK, he didn't want the credit from her song...she wrote it for a girl group for a reality show finale. And Oh My Goodness.
And as for JYP, I don't think he has control of his own company. He lost Got7 because he was jealous of how good they are. He signed on an amazing band called Day6, and proceeded to ignore them to the point that the band promoted and released their own music....Twice is so over worked that they have a lot of problems that JYP ignores the situations. And I think JYP is seriously scared to death of Stray Kids. They are so self contained and self controlled, they almost don't need JYP, and I think that scares him. Besides Twice they bring the most money that he doesn't want to lose.
I know this was a very long post....I am so sorry for the Rant...my mind went totally yo the left and kept going and I just followed....but being an ATINY I know how much the guys worked on all of the music. And I am including Hongjoong, Mingi, and Eden-ary. Not to mention the rest of the group. And it was just so ballant. They have brass ones....I will say that
I'm not ATINY but I've watched enough Ateez videos to know a copycat when I see it. I thought the same things and pointed it out to my daughter who is Atiny. Then there was a moment I thought I saw a bit of a reminder of Atlantis (ShinEE) in there as well. It sucks that they did this to a new group because people are going to give them a lot of crap over it for a long time. If the CEO of Hell Corp actually cared about his artists (we know he doesn't) he wouldn't have agreed to this concept for these girls.

The song as separate parts is really bop to listen to. But just all these parts put together confuses me.
I decided to watch this in retrospect after their latest comeback and also because I never realized you reacted to this but well. I think the biggest issue with this song isn't that the mixxed songs they mashed up aren't cohesive (that is a big part though) but the worst part for me personally is how the audio is mixed. The bass is boosted too much and the instrumentals are too loud that they drown out the girl's vocals. They all have great voices, but they were unfortunately overshadowed by the blaring noise that was the instrumentals, which don't match up with the instrumentals in general. Its like the vocals were recorded completely separate from the music, rather than the two working together they work against eachother... DICE was a way better attempt at mixx pop, in my opinion, because it had more of a clear direction whereas o.o was a chaotic mess. That being said, DICE *still* has a problem with the instrumentals being to overwhelming and their voices don't shine through quite like they do in their live performances, albeit the song is still a lot better. I'm by no means an expert, so maybe there's a different reason the song sounds so strange,
I think a lot of people over looked their lyric, in one of their line Bae said "its just a teaser" meaning this is just a snippet of what they can do. Which as you can see in the mv they're showing different sound and concept representing their group name "NMIXX" it means mixpop. I get that this is not a catchy song that JYP group usually have and tbh i don't like it either but it grow on me overtime and your reaction was expected cuz when it came out a lot of people were confused on what JYPE were trying to achieve and if you listen to the studio version it actually sounds better without the awkward pause in the music video. You should check out tank to understand more on what they are tying to tell us.

At first, i hated with my entire existence but as i heard it often, it grew on me....the beat is really addicting but honestly what made me mad was the plagiarism and i can NEVER forgive JYP for doing dirty to my bois ateez cuz they and the kq staff worked so hard to make the storyline and what just copied it? and pls JYP said this type of beat is specially made for nmixx but NO! SM has been experimenting with styles like this for DECADES now.....

Me too at first thought that this was one of the worst debuts but now have come to believe this is actually not only one of the most unique but one of the best. The group individually is talented and jyp may have wanted to show all that in this one song and that is why he added the two layers together. Everyone in the group are all rounders and I could think of any other group that if they were given this song could pull it off like Nmixx. The switch can be a little unpleasant to the ears at first because of the long pause and the video itself being overwhelming. To understand yeh way the song is and know more about them I suggest checking out their predubt content

You should react to Aespa's "Next Level" and Girl's Generation's "I Got a Boy" to see how this style would sound like when it actually works well. Those 2 groups are from SM, the one who really knows how to make this style work
Let's not go crazy now...while "Next Level" is a good song, "I Got a Boy" is still one of (if not the worst) song in Kpop history. Only reason they got a pass is because they're legends & are on SM. Along those same lines, JYP could afford to release such a bad song for NMIXX cause of Big 3 privilege. Imagine a nugu group/label doing such, it be career suicide...

People keep saying that you'll like it the more you keep listening to it, but it almost gets worse for me. And it's not even the girls, they have great voices and they can dance really well, but the music is very messy and the lyrics are hard to understand. I personally think TANK is a way better song by them. I still am not the biggest fan of it but it's literally stuck in my head.

I’m glad you reacted to this song and gave your opinion, this group has been getting a lot of hate though it’s not their fault. I agree that the song was a bit messy and the transitions between the 2 genres wasn’t the smoothest but again this is just a debut song and they still have more time to grow. I am impressed by the fact they could combine 2 different topics together though, I personally liked it and think they’ll give out better songs in the future. That may be their thing though like you said NMIXX could stand for them combining 2 genres together to make their own music, can’t wait to see how they grow 👀👌
The first time I saw this was on a music show when I was watching for Wonho. The girls are probably quite talented but I can't tell by this song. It was so messy, even live. i didn’t like it when i watched the video but when i just listened to it on spotify i was vibing and now i liked it, it happens to me a lot with these type of songs as is just too much watching at the same time a video that’s also a lot just makes it hard for me to like it but when it’s alone it’s better
