Man, I always lamented the fact that in my first playthrough of Xenogears, none of my gears ever went into hyper mode even once (Not counting System Id). Not even Xenogears itself. That game absolutely hated me.
Xenogears was supposedly to be pushed as FFVII by Square but it's seen as a whole different gameplay than your usual FF so they made it a separate title.
I was able to get all of Elly's hypers before facing the G Elements boss. Elly needs to be at least lv 70 and have all her deathblows mastered and available.
Kill the angels orbiting the boss first. Killing each angel deprives Deus of an ability (4 in total) and significantly weakens it. Other than that, just buy the latest equipment from crashed Shevat or from Joe in Zeboim ruins.
I went through some guide. I think one of them, you have to have a particular set of equips so your enemy doesn't OHKO you. There's a boss I remember that seemed near impossible to hit and he'd kill you in like two turns.

@@asgardharmony Yeah, I'm certain I wasn't aware of how to increase the attack level back then, and just played. It was fun to learn about later tho.
Am I the only one who is reminded of Cloud's Omnislash every time Xenogears performs Kishin?

Holy pendant accessory extends the duration of Hypermode, so get as many as you can if you have the gold.
Too bad Elly isn’t here. She actually can do hers in the first disc if you get her to level 80 (first move is accessible at level 60)
