Wow! What a surprise seeing 4 grain wagons behind the tractor. I've never seen that before. Of course we only grew wheat, barley, oats, timothy, fescue and canola. We could shuttle our grain trucks easily to our granaries, unload and be back in the field in time for another load because the grain takes up less space than corn kernels. Also we had granaries on nearly every field, so our access sites were close to the storage sites. Great video!
The sound of the corn being unloaded into the truck is one of the best there is. Certainly sounds dry. That’s the best though; no drying. Thanks for the video.
Excellent video. Nothing like fresh shelled corn. There's always a bright side of combining late the corn dries down so you don't have to run it through the dryer. Have an excellent day
Howdy from Nebraska! You could do what I do with my international 1460 combines. Go on our use for corn combine and the other is my soybean combine. So it is easy as jumping to one combine to the next for switching fields that fast.
@@boehmfarm4276 We run a 4400 and a 4420 cutting soybeans. Running two combines shelling corn is a problem unless you have enough people and trucks and wagons to to haul it away. The farthest we ever farmed form the house was 4 miles. We have 4 gravity flow wagons and it wasn't possible to keep ahead of the 4400 shelling corn hauling corn that far to unload it. How did the snouts get bent? Might want to weld a skid plate under the snout to keep it from catching the snout in the frozen dirt. Or get some thin hydraulic spacers so the head won't go down too far. Our corn made 230 this year. not as good as it was last year.
What are your plans for that field this year? I assume you won't be planting there in the next few weeks since the stalks couldn't decompose thus winter.
@@boehmfarm4276 Plus then somebody's got to run the thing, ties up another tractor, and yall got plenty of gravity boxes, small fields, and only so much time to harvest and get stuff moved to the bin or barns anyway... Later! OL J R :)

I'm glad you're not the radar gun the po po uses, or everyone would be clocked going too fast. We think it's a sensory issue. Never went out after we drained the transmission last.
@@boehmfarm4276 That is nothing to complain about. I was thinking it might be less because deer might've taken care of it, since it stood that long. We had 214 here in mid central south dakota. Bumper crop like never before.

We stopped chisel plowing years ago and it makes a big difference come harvest time, no more lot lizard like soil.

Good to see that you are getting it done! Cool repair job. Nice looking sample in the wagon, it’s a shame prices are on the floor. Souldier on.
Better get a whistle for the engine on that gravity wagon train! Wooooo - Wooooo!
hahaha
and a bell.
Dad calling you because he folded a snout under the head?? LOL it happens... always some colorful language when it does, but it happens... OL J R :)
The weather this winter sure has been strange. Hope you got all your corn in!
We're still working on some.

And storage costs are lower.
First time I ever saw a Combine Older than the Dirt 😲 lol but she still can git her done... 💪👍
The earth wasn't made yesterday.
Nice work that's some good looking corn 👌
Thank you
its nice when its frozen but people forget and when spring comes its just as bad when we left it

That's an idea. I would like to get two combines going in the same field at once.

Thank you for the video hope you got al the corn off.
How are the pigs and chicken doing.
There's more corn action coming. The animal eat, poop and grow. The hens are cuddling for warmth.
Good video thanks for sharing
Enjoyed the video glad the ground is partly staying frozen for ya what happened to that snout thanks for sharing
Great video! Farm fixing at its finest!

Very Fine

Interesting stuff for sure lol thanks for sharing
Happy Mardi Gras!!
Thank you. Time to eat all your sweets.
Looks like a good place to hunt bunnies along the creek there
This was a nice action video, if it was a 2 hour video I would watch the minutes them all
Me too, aren't our videos so good?
@@boehmfarm4276 yes they are
I see you helped out the Bandit Farmer last week! Get any video of that for your channel?
A good place for New Holland combine parts is the dealer in Continental, not sure how far your from there but they usually have it all
I imagine we have used them before.
What are your plans for that field this year? I assume you won't be planting there in the next few weeks since the stalks couldn't decompose thus winter.
There will be beans this year.
Do u think u guys will get a grain cart at all ?
Rob Woods why would they? They can drive the truck straight to the combine
Probably not going to happen with a grain cart. Just not big enough fields and not a multiuse machine.
@@boehmfarm4276 Plus then somebody's got to run the thing, ties up another tractor, and yall got plenty of gravity boxes, small fields, and only so much time to harvest and get stuff moved to the bin or barns anyway... Later! OL J R :)
If you were to get a newer combine, what would it be? A newer Tr?
I would like a RWA TR86. But if this market keeps up, I have come very close at auction to bringing an axial flow home from this century.

How much ground do you and your dad farm in total
What was the corn variety? Must be a good one if it didn't blow over with ears that high off the ground.
This field is well protected by trees. its from rural king: 112-16.

Conventional

@@boehmfarm4276 well my experience with the 86 series tractors you have a problem your TA is likely shot
What brand corn do you plant
Farm Gate, a brand of Rural King supplied by Federal hybrids.
What is the biggest auger you use? And what state do you farm in?
Southwest Ohio
8"x53' straight auger
A whole half a hole? Are you sure? Jacob does the corn lose any nutritional value being out in the weather this long?
Nope, just might loose a few kernels to pilfering wildlife.
The husks keep the ear covered and protect it from the weather.
@ Jacob; Thanx for the response. Dumb ol' city boy don't know a whole lot.
What's the bushels per acre?
We hit 180 for most of it.

Wy are you Combining this maize in Winter?
Rained all fall from what he said... OL J R : )
Why don't you get it done in the fall I would get nervous if not done by thanksgiving and work 24 /7until done
Hard to work in the rain. All it was last year was wet.
Looser than a lot lizard 😂
Give us more on the 2×2
I will, but it needs a clutch first.
Still haven't washed those dang Windows!

No bugs or snakes.
Not a single one.
If you would take your corn out earlier you would not have your corn stalks breaking off. When the corn is ready to take out you gotta go go go!
357 bushel on a single axle truck is plenty I'd say.
There's never enough!
