I have proudly represented Eddie for the past 14 years. At this stage in his life, he picks and chooses his potential gigs very carefully. He will occasionally do an interview if it is to promote an upcoming performance but otherwise does not do them any longer.
I do discuss every inquiry, pass along questions and messages to him, and relate his responses. He is 93.

@ Wow, I have so much to ask him. What was working for King like? Why didn’t he take the job with the Dominoes? Is he due to play any shows in Virginia soon?

@@Frnk_3 ok- I think we can answer these easily: As far as the shows, there are no shows scheduled in the next six months. There was one offer for the group in Maryland, but it was declined. Regarding the Dominoes and King Records, Eddie states: "They never paid me my royalties. Even today, they have never paid me for our records and they are still being played all over the world. Now, when Clyde left the Dominoes and Billy Ward asked me to join, I wanted to stay with my own group. What I didn't know was that Junior was going to make those records without the rest of the group. I was on tour with the group and while we were traveling, they brought Junior Denby in by himself and did that. We knew nothing about it. I had no idea that Denby was going to go in and cut those records when he was on leave from the Marines. Henry Glover put him with another group and they made 'Laugh' and 'Our Love Is Dying' and those other ones. If I had known then what I know now, I would have gone with the Dominoes." Over the past 15 years, on numerous occasions, I reached out to Starday who owned the King recordings on behalf of Eddie. Nothing. Then I reached out to other companies who licensed the Swallows material for CD reissues from Starday. They told me that they had to pay a higher than expected licensing fee to put King material out. Why the extra fee? Because Starday was supposed to be collecting the royalties to pay to the artists or their estates which they never did. So they got the royalty fees paid up front by whoever was licensing the recordings and then kept it all for themselves. Eddie knew that working for Billy Ward would have meant being a salaried employee. He felt that staying with the Swallows would be a better career and financial move at the time - not realizing he would never see any money from Syd Nathan.
