@@ericmorzella3137 sorry to say but Jerry passed away from cancer at 60 years old 😞. It was right after my boat was finished. At least he got to take it for its maiden voyage in his front yard!! I got a video of him riding it, you should check it out!! If it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t have this sweet boat! Sure do miss him 🙁
Oh my God that's terrible news. Love that guy. He was at my wedding 1994. Robin catered it The boars nest was our home.Walter Downs, Jerry baraka, Larry Carlton. John Lamont I hope robin rachel and jerome are doing well
Thank you Jack! The hull is 13’9” long x 7’9” at the transom, and rides smooth as silk! The motor is an all aluminum LS 6.0 with LS3 heads, it’s a L77 out of a caprice cop car. It comes from the factory with 10.4 to 1 compression!! I got it used and went through it. Went 5 thousands over to clean up the cylinders and used JE forged pistons. Also up graded the cam, nothing crazy. It runs great and been very reliable!!👍👍🍺🍺
@redneck.entertainment That sounds Good- I have 6.0 LS in an 2004 Silverado 2500hd for pushing 20yrs hard farm work - Cast iron I'm sure but been Cracker Jack Good reliable motor Even compared to my diesel truck - Actually preferred for farm chore Great Motors - I grew up many moons ago 70's running through glades my family always had A/C motors on variety of hulls - Now in my mid 60's I looking into place to retire in Fla. Where not too populated if that's possible in smaller town where I can have Airboat in retirement- I'm trying to learn what be good option for hunting / fishing boat that vacancies handle some deep water safe but be able to run some dry when needed- Haul 4 people & gear- I like the looks of your boat- Didn't mean to get long winded here - Guess I'll try keep learning about what hull / motor combination would work well for Central Fla area- I was thinking about some sort of Aircraft like 0540 but guess Airboat builder people have got the Car motors figured out- Although seems to be lot opinions & options- Take Care Buddy You have a beautiful boat!
Thank you Jack! We’re beginning to think about moving up that way also to get out of the rat race. I would suggest car motor if you going for a bigger boat to haul more people and gear just my opinion unless you get a really really strong aircraft motor supercharged with a gear.
My motor is a all aluminum 6.0 Chevy LS that weighs 420lbs +/- a little. Didn’t really calculate the water line , I just knew it would work. I seen many other boats with less of a transom height and have no problem. My transom is 18”
I bought the tee bars from Dave Simpson. He has a machine to roll them. His are also a little taller and wider, I’m thinking 2”. Definitely worth getting them from him, they come out perfect. The old-school way is to have a jig set up and bend it a little at a time but it’s hard to get them all the same.
I think rivets are stronger think about it, airplanes are riveted together. I’ve seen welds crack maybe not the weld itself but the aluminum on the edge of a weld, but there’s plenty of welded hulls out there just your preference
Beautiful job.
Jerry back in the day we used to use a Bush hog deck. To roll the loops for the cages.
Thank you sir! Jerry was the man!!
@redneck.entertainment Back in the early 90s, I built many boats with Jerry. You mentioned in a reply. He was a man, is he okay?

One of Jerry's favorite sayings while working on boats was HEY LET'S STOP DRINK A BEER AND THINK ABOUT IT
Love the hurst shifter ball nice touch 😊
Thank you! I love my hot rods!!
Great looking boat! Making me want another one

Thank you sir!!
So cool, id love to be able to do this.
it's a lot of work but very rewarding when done!!
Nice Work- What Length/width- What motor?

Hello Kyle, how much does it weight an engine as yours? How did you calculate needed waterline? Thank you.

Do have drawings for your build ? Was this all custom one of design ?
@@Sheilagene2 there are no drawings for this build, just a few patterns. The old man that helped me had the patterns and mostly just his knowledge!!
Just curious what you use to roll or bend ypur tbars? And what size tbar do you use?

Nice job. Do you have the plans for this airboats?
No sir, just a couple patterns and the help of a old timer who had built many over the years!
Ok thank you so much sr.@@redneck.entertainment
How come y’all riveting?? Is that stronger than welds???
I think rivets are stronger think about it, airplanes are riveted together. I’ve seen welds crack maybe not the weld itself but the aluminum on the edge of a weld, but there’s plenty of welded hulls out there just your preference
@@redneck.entertainment I could definitely see rivited hulls are stronger but I also see it’s more labor intensive
Rivets won’t crack under vibration. Welds are more rigid than rivets in this application.
Definitely
How do you order sheets of aluminum that big ?
It’s actually 2 sheets joined in the middle of the boat. If you look close The middle stringer has a lot more rivets to hold the two sheets together.
what did you use to line the bottom of the boat with
A sheet of polymer, it’s expensive! 750.00 at the time.
3/8th’s of a inch
Thing of the past
Our heritage is leaving us one generation at a time
Turned out very nice
Vende los planos de construcción?
@@criollito no sir, I don’t. …sorry
@@redneck.entertainment Es posible un video con mas detalle el proceso de fabricación?
If you go to southern airboat.com and look up a post called - I’m finally building my boat you can see and read a lot more!
Open Bud Lights in the holders? Wow.
That was way before there BS! Coors nowadays 🍺
@@redneck.entertainment Yessir! Better choice! Lol!
I call this project very cool, but the music...aarrgghh!
Sorry, I don’t have much of a selection…
No Sir I’m not
Ok, there is a guy that did airboat tours and his name is Lyle…just checking! And thanks for subscribing 👍👍
