The Music producer Warren Huart has done a video on the AR-18's, apparently, some prominent 80's producers used AR-18 speakers to monitor and even mix using these speakers. Tracks by the Police were mixed on AR-18's by producer Hugh Padgham. ; ua-cam.com/video/mWipyBWkH-0/v-deo.html
I need recone my set. Do you have a source for cones/coil/spider etc? I am told you need to energize the cone with a low frequency to assure it is centered? If you get it glued in crooked it will rub the coil?
Some acetone is better for the glue, it really makes it so much easier, i did the same with my Mission 700's a few months back and the glue was awful, nasty tacky stuff that would not lift. I have done a few lately including a set of kef B160's, AR 8LS and have a set of mission 720 ready to go but am struggling to find the correct surround for a reasonable price. I see you have used North Speaker Parts, used him a few times and he is good until you want to return a product that he has wrongly labeled, he may or may not contact you and will then just ghost you.
Use acetone would have been better cleaning it I think that glue is a contact glue the way you're describing the smell you need to do both sides first let them go tacky then it's an instant Bond so you have to be careful
When I did this on my Audio Note speakers the company told me to use bicycle puncture repair glue. Works a treat as it's flexible, strong and durable.

I did my Acoustic Research AR44BX,s during lockdown , worked a treat 👍
You might do better with acetone as a solvent. Don’t use it in a non-ventilated space though.
I use a small sharp woodworking chisel to remove the glue, works like a dream....just mind your fingers!
Is that Sandy Denny in the background?

You need paraffin to dissolve the glue!
I have to admit as I was watching this I thought it wasn't going to settle down but they came out absolutely perfect. Great job Cheers!
