Spectacular. Reminds me of the (now closed) airstrip on Santo Antao (Cabo Verde Islands) at Ponta do Sol. Similar length, and location by the sea on a cliff, next to high mountains. Arrived there once in a Twin Otter.
haha, it's very safe! The boat trip is very rough.... seasickness...... So we took the flight to Saba! Very special experience! And the retour price is not much more!
Gotta love the Twin Otter . It's a good thing this runway favors the trades too . I've been on DH-6s in some tight places like Walker's Cay in the Bahamas and the STOL performance of these and the Islanders are really needed .
Oh I know it's safe, but my wifes uncle lived on Saba and was a pilot. One day his landing was long and went over the end, then he crawled back up and into a bar and never came out.
I wouldn't be so sure :D even with the twin otter this one is a challenge and though I don't know much about the AN-2, I doub't its stopping abilities are quite at twotter's level, being an old taildragger and all. Could be wrong :P
In case of a crash, I suppose. All airports have fire crews, Saba's was just smaller. They had a proper fire department elsewhere on the island as well.
Mostly rocks but a couple small places to swim, coves and off the main pier. One beach that comes in and out with the seasons. People would say, "The beach is back." It's a beautiful place with nice people who live there.
WOW, awesome video! Thank you so much for sharing :) That was one heck of a windy day, is it usually really windy like that or is it just the time of season?
por favor alos del you tube no dejen subir videos que no indiquen donde son hora fecha los que filmaron si saben pero millones que vemos estos videos tan bonitos no¡¡ sabemos donde lugar? saludos desde apodaca nl mex.
I flew DHC-6 and it's not big deal if you know short RWY about AN-2 actually can land shorter and take-off shorter then DHC-6 AN-2 known as " kukurusnik" in Russian
In a stiff enough wind that Twin Otter will land on this runway crosswise at the apron turnoff and still need to taxi to get to its parking spot! Ha, what a plane.
Take off and landing is possible on this runaway, because of the strong headwind! Like in this video: ua-cam.com/video/SmzhwQ_YRPU/v-deo.html . Runaway is in open sea, so there is all the time strong winds, this is why probably authorities permit to use this runaway :)
This Airport shall be closed due to its small runway. At the end of the runway, some planes are stalling because of the lack of groundspeed. Lol thats really dangerous.
Landing: didn't keep runway center line. BackTaxing: didn't keep center line. TakeOff: didn't keep center line. Just wondering why. But great job after all. That a short runway
+hermenegildo bugalho Landing & T.O. were using the upwind side of runway judging from the correction needed at liftoff. Plus the dude with the camera has to be on a pretty good hill which must be mighty close to right side of runway. Didn't taxi far enough to worry about centerline.
What kind of stupid question is that? The runway is less than 2000ft. Of course not. And even if it could with an insane 100kt headwind it could never takeoff again.
This is some exceptional audio quality
Imagine doing that takeoff in 80 feet less with a B-25 in 1942; 16 times no less... Respect!
Holy shit these Flight Simulator 2020 graphics are amazing
Spectacular. Reminds me of the (now closed) airstrip on Santo Antao (Cabo Verde Islands) at Ponta do Sol. Similar length, and location by the sea on a cliff, next to high mountains. Arrived there once in a Twin Otter.
The pilot is so pretentious. He only uses half the runway. How cool. "I only need 200 meters."
Not for take off, he didn't.
@@johnnyboy2k ..

Saba is one of the most fun places to visit.
Thats right! It is the shortest runway in the world with a lengt of 400 meters.
Can't help but love that runway! :D I like your camerawork too!
Note to self: TAKE WIND PROTECTOR FOR AUDIO MIC!!!!!!!!!!
Gotta love the Twin Otter . It's a good thing this runway favors the trades too .
I've been on DH-6s in some tight places like Walker's Cay in the Bahamas and the STOL performance of these and the Islanders are really needed .
Chris Doyle's "Cruising Guide to the Leeward Islands" (13th ed) has an excellent section on this island, including the history of the airport.
Oh I know it's safe, but my wifes uncle lived on Saba and was a pilot. One day his landing was long and went over the end, then he crawled back up and into a bar and never came out.
Yes, it is usually really windy! August is the start of the hurricane season, so there are occasional storms!
Was there many years ago, scary landing and take off for sure
Very natural video. It's like being there 😊
Did the first aircraft which land almost went to stall / the strong wind which makes it slow?
Nice vacation spot. I wonder if the wind ever blows there.
awesome!! I love it! Twin Otter at it's best, in one of the world's shortest commercial airstrips!!! Hope I visit Saba one day:)
I was there for 6 days in March of 1973, and this brings back memories! I was the only guest in my guest house the entire time!
What about one engine out proceedure ...?
Andreas Karotsieris I'm guessing one engine out procedure here would be to turn the hell around and head back to Princess Juliana airport.
飛行員的 技速 真是太棒了 注意看 在他要街進跑道的時候 發動機 已經關掉了 全靠滑行進場的 技速太棒了 給妳一個讚
thxx for this!
It could be he never heared of Saba before. Saba is an island of the Dutch antilles, is near the Gulf of Mexico and the West Indies.
I wouldn't be so sure :D even with the twin otter this one is a challenge and though I don't know much about the AN-2, I doub't its stopping abilities are quite at twotter's level, being an old taildragger and all. Could be wrong :P
nice Landing and Takeoff
please send the picture of twin otter or winair
Yes I bet you can, but will you be able to break before the end of the runway?
👏. Visite Campos dos Goytacazes RJ Brasil
Me encanto el video
i would think you would have to have enormous brass balls to land or take off from that runway
I'm actually from there :)
How do you know if there is a pilot in the room?
He will already have told you.
Does this airport have a fire brigade?
+Mark Gorney They do. I lived on the island for a year, and the way you knew the plane was close to landing is they'd start the fire engine.
+Marla Sanders Interesting. For what reason?
In case of a crash, I suppose. All airports have fire crews, Saba's was just smaller. They had a proper fire department elsewhere on the island as well.
+Marla Sanders Hi, it's pretty cool you lived there. Did you like it? Are there any beaches on this island or just rocks?
Mostly rocks but a couple small places to swim, coves and off the main pier. One beach that comes in and out with the seasons. People would say, "The beach is back." It's a beautiful place with nice people who live there.
What a Boss...
The DHC-6 is perefectly made for landings and take offs like this, but however it's pretty short
Agreed.
right! there was at that time a kind of tropical storm!
Having made this takeoff and landing a couple of times, I have to admit it still raises the pucker factor a couple of notches.
Wanted to do this flight when in St Marteen, wife said hell no,,,we took the one hour boat ride.
WOW, awesome video! Thank you so much for sharing :) That was one heck of a windy day, is it usually really windy like that or is it just the time of season?
yes it’s usually windy
donde es esto ????
Crazy... yet amazing!
What is a Saba? Is it Edible?
windy much?
where is that airport??
Just have a look for the runway on Helgoland/Germany. There after you´ll find 400m quite comfortable.
that's one short runway !
Yes thats right! This twin otter from Winair has only permission to flight to Saba.
@COOLEBABY1995 Do you live in SABA?
Not entirly true. There are shorter runways, but they are used for Chesna's and things like that. This is the shortest runway for commercial flight.
i didn't say which antonov. the antonov AN-2 is small enough to land there, i think
WOW spectacular :)
nice land ing and takeoff
thanks!
I flew DHC-6 and it's not big deal if you know short RWY about AN-2 actually can land shorter and take-off shorter then DHC-6 AN-2 known as " kukurusnik" in Russian
extreme landing and takeoff ever ^^
Woooooow so great
1080p HD!
A: Couple years later 4K ULTRA HD!
awesome...!

I'm pretty sure this is a twin otter
Real risky landing and takeoff! Good videos! Can B737 land there? I subscribed and liked!
I visited here in 1973 and the locals threw bags of rocks at me and called me "Sugadinini" which loosely translates to "Poop Cleaner"
He's probably referring to the Twin Otter ;D
This airport is like landing on carrier
Skid marks at the near the edge of runway, well before the threshold is a little unnerving.
No, I was on holiday last summer
Nice, thanx
Haha! Of course not! This twin otter from Winair has only permission to flight to Saba.
Why have such a short runway putting lives to danger
You all realize this is fake right? It is a computer generated island/plane with some added camera effects/sounds.
Queen Beatrix is a risky gal !
Maarten* :)
Be there on holiday!
Helgoland has a runway of 480 meters!
Who cares?
Only Germans would go there...
But you still have a lot of runway on the water.
The others are RWY 03/21 = 371m, RWY 06/24 = 258m.
hahaha lol saba is one of the netherlands islands together with st maarten and more like bonaire
The pilot was scared while landing and passengers were like:🙄🙄🙄🙄
Must be fun living in Juancho Yrasquin
Had to mute because of the wind noise in microphone.
Filter the wind out of your mic..annoying wind noise.
More of a walkway than a runway
🥸
Cool...
its not a runway, its an Air Carrier :)
All pilots are qualified to work on Air Carriers
Take off and landing is possible on this runaway, because of the strong headwind! Like in this video: ua-cam.com/video/SmzhwQ_YRPU/v-deo.html . Runaway is in open sea, so there is all the time strong winds, this is why probably authorities permit to use this runaway :)
How many people came here after watching AirForceProud95's video?
I think it's probably very boring... Being on one little island... :P
I really don't think he needed to what till the very end of the runway
This Airport shall be closed due to its small runway. At the end of the runway, some planes are stalling because of the lack of groundspeed. Lol thats really dangerous.
bad audio
quiero ir ahí...dsd PANAMÁ
tendrias que ir panama st marteen st marteen saba

landing sequence: according to the wind, better to have room to the rigth just in case and after landing, just f.... the center line.
I did'nt say which one
*commercial airport
the take off must by scary
Nice
yeah
The likelyhood of a 100 knot headwind at that place is about the same as a whale flying.
What kind of stupid question is that? The runway is less than 2000ft. Of course not. And even if it could with an insane 100kt headwind it could never takeoff again.
