I have such wonderful memories of setting up the Christmas village at my Grandma's home. It was not a fancy set-up and the houses were of various sizes but it was so magical!
My mother gave me her Dickens village. It’s about 12 stores/ homes and the trees etc. I just got a table like you have. I didn’t even realize to put a price of plywood to make it bigger. I think I’m going to cut mine to a shape to fit corner of living room. Thanks for the ideas buddy. I’m going to start making the little white fence!
Yeah I quickly found my village outgrowing the folding table, but the 4x8 plywood on top is incredibly stable. FYI, I definitely did not make the fence, I bought it and superglued it on. It was super cheap on amazon.
We used to keep them in their boxes, but it was just too much trouble every year. Now they get stored in the closet for easy access and the boxes are all in the attic.
@@TheChristmasCouple oooh I feel so much better knowing you had the boxes. Lol like that will make or break your day. But your video was enjoyable. My husband and I started collecting New England when we got engaged now 26 years later my daughter is helping to set the village up. Will post pics later.
@@carolwarren-avonind.repsal754 would love to see them! Yeah for sure still have the boxes, definitely wouldnt get rid of them. But it shaves about an hour off the set up and take down to have them out already
Very cool Christmas village. I’ve been thinking about buying some Department 56 village houses, but I haven’t make that decision yet. They are pricey and I already collect Lemax Carole towne and St Nicholas.
They're definitely super expensive! I always buy mine off in eBay in the offseason and usually get a better deal. It is hard to match the quality of department 56.
Would have been more interesting if the whole process was filmed with more perspective. So much close up doesn’t let you see how the display was actually conceived and laid out
You know I realized that I commented on the wrong video, because you are correct, this one DOES not have an overall how it was set up situation. The one I released most recently this past year DOES have a time lapse on how it was set up. Sorry about that. I got mixed up on which village video this was.
This one happens to be Lionel O. It was my Grandfather's and he had his own little table top setup and when he passed away I incorporated his train into my set as an homage to him. It just happens to match the theming pretty close to Dickens Village. When contemplating what train to use, though, before I got his, I found this article to be very helpful. Essentially it says eff the gauge, use the train that fits your theme the best within reason. Can't go wrong with 0 though. dfarq.homeip.net/department-56-scale-the-definitive-guide/
Sure! Many of them are long strings of 8-10 bulbs that I wire around and then hide the wire with snow/behind buildings. I just find them on amazon. LED are nice but they tend to not fit as well and they don't give that soft warm iconic Village glow. If you search christmas village warm lights on amazon, any of those top results would get what I did.
It's a Lionel train. It's actually a hand me down from my grandfather, who always had it displayed and running. When he passed away it was given to me and I incorporated it into the village.
I have a really long string that has like 20 or 25 sockets in it, I just run it along and then when the houses are too far apart I just skip a bulb and then do the next one

I have the same connection to the village! My grandparents had a tiny little village too and I loved to just stare at it!
Потрясающая деревня!!!
Я очень обожаю такую прелесть!!!
Спасибо огромное!!!
Спасибо! Счастливого Рождества!

Bonsoir hello😅
Ta table mesure 4metres par 8 metres???

My
Heart sank a bit when you didn’t have your houses in their boxes! So brave. We are setting up our New England d56 village today
We used to keep them in their boxes, but it was just too much trouble every year. Now they get stored in the closet for easy access and the boxes are all in the attic.

What a pretty village! ❤
Zoom out so we can see the whole thing when it's done!! Ahhhhh!
This one is years old, check out my newer ones to see the whole village. Learning from my mistakes.
Love seeing the department 56 village over the years and how it changes
That looks wonderful, Merry Christmas.
and to you!
Love The Human Fund shirt! Well played. We have a Vandalay Industries one.
I wear it every year. Its my favorite holiday shirt!

Awesome Christmas village, thanks for sharing 🎄🎄🎄🎁🎁🎁
So glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for commenting!

Well, there's a time lapse of the whole thing in the corner. I always found the details to be much more interesting. To each his own.

Great setup! What gauge train are you using? I hear most say that O is the best for Dept 56 but let me know your thoughts.

I love your video. It's been chosen as a "Village Video of the Month" selection on our website starting March 15, 2022. Congratulations!
Well Deserved.
We are absolutely honored! Thank you so much! Can't wait to see it on your website!
Do you have any information on the buildings’ lights that were used?

WHat are you spraying? adhesive? fake snow? Thanks! Enjoyed your video!
Thanks for watching! Yeah its fake snow. I use Santa Snow Spray you can grab it in amazon. Super easy cleanup doesnt damage the houses.
What brand is your train and where is it from :)
It's a Lionel train. It's actually a hand me down from my grandfather, who always had it displayed and running. When he passed away it was given to me and I incorporated it into the village.
Awesome. This must have cost a small fortune. Department 56 isn't cheap.
It does start to add up...but its collected over years, so its spread out
what did you sprinkle for snow?
That would be fake snow that you can get at any hobby store
Nice..What size is the table on top of the fold out table? How is it attached since it's larger?
It's an 8 ft x 4 ft piece of plywood. And since it's so heavy it just sits on it and it doesn't budge.
Thankyou!
How do you plug all these in?
I have a really long string that has like 20 or 25 sockets in it, I just run it along and then when the houses are too far apart I just skip a bulb and then do the next one
