Best Try shoot ever. During the recording I was only pretending to listen to Darren's facts and was silently plotting how to leave with all of that whiskey
I think that when it comes to Darren's whiskey factoids, you just sort of have to let them absorb into your bloodstream, where, like a good whiskey, they will eventually leave you with a warm glow... of knowledge.
The only thing that would have made it better is if they’d somehow gotten a bottle of Redbreast 27.
Was it improved because you were paired up with that "whiskey hoor"?
I'd missed ya Martin! Good to see ya
@Martin Angolo Comedy Ha, ha! I just came here to post the following: I've been waiting to see a Darren/Martin pairing for an alcohol shoot, yet I sense that your energy vis-à-vis Darren's whiskey tutorial is, "Eh, whatever. Let's drink."
I think Darren should go on a world tour and do video interviews with each master distiller. He's like the David Attenborough of whiskey.
True words!
Actually, he could probably do something like they do in Mendoza Argentina with wineries. Set up tours for tourists where they visit 2 or 3 different distilleries and then do a tasting, and he can explain the process/characteristics and instruct each group
I agree!
Not really.
Amen. Makes me want to go and get all 3 bottles.
Darren and Martin in a Wiskey Shoot........IT DOES NOT GET ANY BETTER, PERIOD.
It would if we also had Dermot and Ciara
@@bedlamite42 and clare and Lolsy ........the need to Try doing it "That 70's Show" style when they're getting high
Those guys are fantastic! I love it! 💘
@@lee-qz7bd you mean like the circle thing?
@@wickidmainah Yup.......put a camera in the middle of a table?
They must have told Darren that Martin would be there and that they were bringing out the good shit.
Both are dressed very classy. (Martin always is) Only thing missing is big leather chairs and a fireplace.
And cigars or pipes.
Edit: somone beat me to cigars.
And some shelves in the background with many fine, leather-bound books on them.
Martin and Darren's virtual armchairs are cushier than any real ones I might own.
Check out "Ron Swanson drinking Lagavulin by a fire". It is 10 hours of Ron Swanson drinking Lagavulin by a fire.
Ohhh! Try Channel, get some big leather chairs for the whiskey shoots!
You can't do better than having Darren, Martin and Seamus in a whiskey video. True appreciation of a great whiskey!
Include dermot.... ?
And Ciara?
Seamus missed the opportunity to hit us with a “Smooood”. Never change, sir. We celebrate your dialect and tune in for this as well as the great personalities in the videos!
I was terribly disappointed when that ended it with a very distinct "tha".
Callyann makes everything better. especially her dramatic reactions.
Darren is giving major dad vibes in his jacket and whiskey knowledge. All he needs is a pair of glasses and some grey hair at the temples and his professor look would be complete. 👨🏫
And maybe a cigar or pipe
Add some leather patches to the elbows of the jacket!
There needs to be a Darren Ciara Dermot and Martin show where they go all Anthony Bourdain on the world's whiskeys
Never better said ...
I still get the most entertainment when the Try participants are enjoying themselves. This is a rare case where I'd double the number of participants (maybe triple) and extend the running time accordingly.
I second that motion.
Callyann looks amazing today. And long lost Graeme is back!!! What a good day!
When doesn’t Callyann look amazing? 😍 And yes, a blast from the past with Mr. Graeme!
@@rayhopkins9420 Agreed!
Yeah im pretty sure Callyann cant help but look amazing. Has a lot to do with her personality.
Ok, do the people who end up being paired with Martin end up coordinating with him the night before? Cause it feels like they end up dressing classier with him than with others
You have to keep up with that 10/10 style can't be showing up looking like a 9/10.
It just won't do! 🤣
Artful pairings - the enthusiastic couple, the plain ol' drinkin' lads and the aficionados. They make for an excellent balance of views and another good drunken Funday. Slainte!
(Great edits too - we see ya calling it on the fly and making it happen later there Colin, ya sly genius)
A buddy of mine absolutely LOVES Redbreast. He's always saying that Redbreast 12 is a wonderful gateway into Irish whiskey. He's really gonna like this video.
Darren looks like he’s about to cry he’s so happy. I never realized just how many brands of Irish whiskey there are. The TRY Channel is always great for an education! Love you guys lots!!!
He was a regular years ago. So glad he’s back!
Callyann's enthusiasm gives me so much life.
Wow! This made my day, I'll have to give this video a 10 out of 10.....getting to see Darren and Martin on a whiskey Try is absolute perfection!
I've had the 12, the 12 Cask Strength and the Lustau. I love them all. As an American with Irish ancestry, I thought it is my duty to mansplain the origins of Irish Single Pot Still Whiskey to actual Irish natives. :-) The English instituted a tax on malted barley in 1785. To lessen the impact of this tax, those crafty Irish distillers decided to use both malted and unmalted barley in their distilleries. And the Single Pot Still Whiskey was invented. Also, the age statement discloses the youngest whiskey in the bottle. There could be older whiskeys in there, but nothing younger.
So nice to see Graeme after such a long time! I hope we get to see him a little more often!
I second that! Graeme we missed you.
Welcome back.
agreed! that was a welcomed blast from the past
Graeme can brighten anyone's day. Great to see him again.
Callyann and Redbreast in one video?! I could almost die happy right now, except I have neither one here in person at the moment. Long live TRY!
I remember Graeme. He always looks like he's on the verge of focusing. When he gets just about focused, he usually comes out with something good.
Thank you I requested this video. As a member of the Irish whiskey party based in Savannah Georgia USA we have many Irish whiskeys imported and the absolute favorite from year after year after year which every member stocks in their own homes is the 12-year-old
If there could be a happiness quotient metric in UA-cam videos, this would fit as the gold standard. The joy multiplied at every sip and I’m here for it.
🥃 Signed a Lagavulin drinker who’s never mad at RB.
It makes me happy seeing Darren so happily in his element.👍✨
Darren's point about preferring the 12 makes sense. I've heard several whiskey makers and aficionados say that 12 years is about the maximum age (and some would say "prime") before the wood starts to have a negative effect on the liquor. "25 years", "50 years", and so on sound fancy, and get an equally fancy price, but more isn't always better.
I've only ever had the Redbreast 12, and it's an excellent whiskey. Elga Fox said it's her favorite.
Try the cask strength 12 it's better, I agree with Darren though the 15 isn't quite as good as the regular 12.
@@Whiskyfan519 I've been wanting to get a bottle of RedBreast to try, but the 12 is the upper end of my price range for being a very occasional and novice drinker. Where I am it's $66 for the 12 year, and $95 for the 12 year cask strength. $115 for the 15 year. $300 for the 21year, and $550 for the 27 year.
@@Patryn71 that's bargain prices compared to where I'm at. But yeah if I had to only get one bottle I'd get the 12 cask strength, the regular 12 (I had a side by side of the 12 and 15 about an hour ago) has a smoother mouthfeel than the 15 but is sweeter and not as "exciting" as the 15. But the 15 is not worth the premium over the 12 imo. That bottle of "all sherry" that they got is a limited single cask release and is between 400 American upwards to a thousand dollars a bottle from my quick search.
If you got the cash available and would like to try it I definitely recommend. Being casual it really depends though. If you nose, sip and experiment with whisky or just want something to sip by the fire that's not too challenging. If you're just into having something smooth look into Jameson stout edition. Same distillery just not the same level of quality or price.
@@Whiskyfan519 I got hooked on Crown Royal Cask 16 back when it came out. I had a friend that owned a bar and I got some killer deals through him. I didn't realize it was out of production and a bottle now costs around $1k. Now I get to brag about how I drank 10 thousand dollars of whisky in 2007/8.
Superb Whisky!! Thanks to Darren for the lesson....much appreciated!!
I'm from America and a self proclaimed whiskey man and I absolutely love Redbreast. There all good
Got to love CallyAnn and her love for Irish Whiskey! Her mannerisms are so awesome. She is one of my favorites ❤! 💜✌
The bubbliest darling in the world.
@@ronjones-6977, and she looked absolutely amazing in this shoot. I was excited to watch this, but after the first glimpse I just wanted them to stay focused on her. 😂
So many satisfied faces on this shoot, this may never happen again. It would have been nice to have all the Tryer's that make Whiskey faces try these, I say we have a Part 2.
Thank you Darren for the Redbreast Whiskey education, I'm going to go out and buy myself one, or two, .......who are we kidding I'll eventually get them all.
You will be the ASH Pokemon of Whiskey.
this truly is the most Darren video ever. suit and all!!
Absolutely LOVE Callyanne. She makes me crack up every time I see her on. Love your channel guys and gals. You bring light to my day. Keep up the good work👊😁. All my love😘
I just picked up a bottle of Redbreast 12 year old. I haven’t cracked it open yet. Bourbon is King in America but I was looking for something smoother. This makes me happy to see how enjoyable it is.
I bought a bottle of the 21 year old to toast my father's passing in January. I can attest that it is very similar to the 12 (like the 15) but it is like the 12 dialed up to 11, if you get my meaning. It was amazing and I think of my father every time I drink it. Thanks Tryers, something new in this for me to try, I have been curious about the Lustau; and I haven't even seen the sherry cask only one, but I do love a cask strength whiskey.
They're only made for one shop, and every bottle I've found currently is around $1,000
I love the pairings in this video! I love learning from Darren
I'd give my whisky collection to sit and drink with Darren and Martin 😁
All of them are great but The Redbreast Lustau is my favorite of this line 🇮🇪 🥃 Sláinte. I don't know if you're aware of this but there is another channel using your content it's called LuvTryChannel
If Darren was a Dungeons and Dragons character, he'd have a feature called Whiskey Cunning: Double Proficiency on all History checks concerning Whiskey and Distilleries 😂
Thanks for the tip to pop in and watch this. Don't know how I missed it, but starting with the 12 I was like...yep, this is gonna be a good one.
And it was. Darren and Martin together was a dream pairing.
Literally the best Irish whiskey out there.
It was nice seeing Graeme again!!!
I am missing Donal though. Haven't seen him on here in quite a while. Would love to see Donal and Dermot together again!!!
Redbreast is literally my favorite whiskey ever
Literally!
I'd suggest checking out the spot whiskeys next. Green Spot, Yellow Spot, Red Spot, and the cask strength Blue Spot. They're all fabulous and I'm sure that you will enjoy them.
Martin, Darren and whiskey? This ought to be interesting.
Tenowdaten
In “ Merica” we have everyday, lawnmowing Whiskey then there’s the “Party” Whiskey BUT there’s the one you share with your friends, have in your flask on a Special occasion. I’ve never had this one & can’t wait! BTW I’m in 2 bagpipe bands & drinking is a requirement!
If you dont like sherry its a tough one to drink
Finally! My absolute favorite Irish whiskey bar none. Just love that stuff. Standing birthday wish is a bottle of 15 year. Truly great. Can’t wait to try the All Sherry, haven’t seen it in the US yet, but I’ll be looking for it.
First discovered Redbreast in a airport bar in Shannon, was on the way home from desert storm.
Such a beautiful country, always wanted to go back for a longer visit. Someday it will happen.
Darren is a master connoisseur. The World of whisky with Darren needs to be a thing.
I purchased a $115 bottle of 15, worth every penny. I drank it 1 shot at a time, sipping it slowly savoring every subtle nuance. Each time was a short visit to heaven. Thank you Guys.
Oh my gods, you did a whiskey video without Dermot? O.O He's gonna be SO mad LMAO. That being said, I've never tried Redbreast. Guess I'm going to have to give this one a try myself :D
They should have doubled the participants and doubled the run time of the video---it would have been worth it.
Graeme! Welcome back! 🙋🏻♀️
Redbreast is fantastic! I've had the 12 year, the Lustau, and the 15 year. Like Darren, I much prefer the 12 year or the Lustau over the 15 year. The 15 year is double the price of the 12 year, and I definitely don't feel like it is worth it.
It's good stuff!
There is also the cask strength 12 year, which is
@@mlmmt in my area the 3 that I've tried are the only 3 that are available. I would gladly try any other variations of Redbreast that show up in the middle of the USA.
It is a 10 we got Martin. Great to see Callyann. Some of the best Try's had them in it.
Lovely to see all the regulars in this shoot, and welcome Graeme. it may not be his first shoot with Try but he's new to me! You did a fine job and don't worry about certain alcohols tasting the same; your palate will blossom and mature with more experience.
Same, I've not seen him before. Is Clare recruiting more rugby friends?
He's been on a long time ago. Like toward the beginning of try
@@wickidmainah I think he was also on the previous channel-that-shall-not-be-named.
I'm rarely influenced by other peoples opinions.......but OMG. Picked up a bottle of the 12 year old for $65 USA dollars and nursed on it like a newborn. One of the best whiskeys I have had.
Loved the video as I’m a HUGE redbreast fan and drinker! It is the true standard bearer for all Irish whiskey! I have the Dreamcask 32 year, 30 and 29 years and those will never be beat
I've never even heard of Redbreast whiskey prior to seeing this video. I've also never seen a whiskey on Try that the crew had such a reverence for. Like I've seen all the lads speak highly of a great variety of whiskeys and spirits, but you can see here this has is something genuinely extra special, and it's not their words that convey this sentiment.
There is a lesser known Bourbon whiskey brand over here in the US..
Angel's Envy. Their tag line is "Bourbon Goes to Finishing School"
They have a lovely small collection of Kentucky Bourbons.
One finished in port wine casks (Tawney)
another finished in rum barrels.. Rye.. it's magnificent.
There's another in Sherry casks
and they do have a cask strength one that changes each year.
If an option for that brand comes up.. jump on it.
These lovely people make me enjoy Mondays x
As an American, Redbreast 12 is my favorite Irish whiskey, and one of my favorite whiskey's period.
Sherry Cask is a total game changer. Back in like, 2014, Captain Morgan released a limited edition Sherry cask aged blended rum, and i swear to god if it was still available, it would be the only thing i would drink.
That Redbreast 12 won a Gold Medal at the 2019 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, the 2019 winner at the Ultimate Spirits Challenge, and a Gold Medal at the 2018 International Wine and Spirits Competition. And the Redbreast 12 cask strength is my favorite whiskey across the board.
As a wino, Redbreast genuinely frightened me.
Darren is probably not everyone's cup of tea but I LOVE his whiskey knowledge! Always love a Try video featuring Darren and pairing him with the 10 out of 10 legend was pure genius.
He doesn't come across as a whiskey snob. He comes across as a whiskey fanboy. He isn't trying to impress anybody. He just really likes to geek out about whiskey.
Love him!
I love Callyann's extended pinky finger as she shoots down the whiskey like it's lemonade. A proper lady's form!
One of my favorite Irish whiskeys. 10 out of 10. (And if you’re tempted to ‘neck it,’ step away from the whiskey and go find some cheap tequila.)
Never tried this, guess I need to check it out.
Redbreast 12 tastes like Christmas and I love it!
Whiskey videos are some of my favorites, but this one takes the cake. The expressions of joy that you each have are great selling points for Redbreast.
That cherry one got us good!
As usual, Seamus brings the wisdom, "the wood makes it good". That's really all you need to know about Whiskey.
Martin and Darren together is epic! Martin throwing in the 10 out of 10 at the last moment cracked me up.
I'm getting a Red Breast 12 year Cask Strength tomorrow. So excited. Had to revisit this masterpiece!
OMG--so nice to see Graeme again--been far too long. Darren is always such a revelation when it comes to whiskey. I think our Dermot missed out on this one.
I’ve watched this video so many times. A) introduced me to Redbreast and I’m a total convert. B) Pairings are beautiful to behold. Love me anything with Seamus Graeme Cally Martin and Darren. Spot on with the commentary (“have some more there” and “i will not” from Graeme absolutely cracked me up). And finally C) don’t ever change Try. Y’all bring some joy and knowledge in equal measures!!!
PS never underestimate what Colin or Sean bring to every video when they step out from behind the camera. Love all the Tryers!!!!
Id love to see them drink ardberg, laphroig, lagavulin and octamore :)
Southern Islay whiskies are my favorites for sure.
and bruichladdich!
Redbreast 12 and Redbreast Cask Strength are 2 of my favorite pours!
Watched this video yesterday, got a bottle today. This stuff is smooth as silk.
So I am an ignorant American who will normally drink Jameson and Ginger ale. But on the few occasions where I have grown a pair and had a proper whiskey I have had Green Spot and Redbreast 12. Great Sipping whiskeys
Lady and gentleman this was a great taste test video. Fabulous whiskey and even better company. Darren hits the mark with sound judgment about the drinks offered with Martin ending with a ten. Callie Ann, again holds her own. Thank you.
Perk of living In Louisville is fancy Irish is always around bc everyone is overlooking it for bourbon allocations. Currently have 8 different redbreasts; 12yr, 12yrs cask strength, lustau, 15yr, small batch cask strength, PX sherry edition, Kentucky oak edition and the 21yr. Only one I’m not big on is the 15yr bc it’s the only one without sherry. Y’all need to try the Spots next, both made by the Midleton distillery
1st off…great to see Graeme back👏🏻. Darren it’s a pleasure hearing your knowledge Sir 🫡, and Seamus & Martin too, great video.
One of my favorite that I found when I was living in Europe
I love hearing Darren talk about whiskey! ❤
"The wood makes it good". That sounds like another Try Channel t-shirt!
I tried Redbreast 12 year old and I was very impressed. I would never have tried it but seeing your UA-cam video I gave it a try at a pub in California. I’m a scotch drinker and I do have some Irish whiskeys that I use bushmills Blackbush and Redbush but this redbreast 12 year old Beats them all. Thank you all I’m a redbreast drinker now thanks to your UA-cam video.
George Stephen Martan
I feel like an avid bird watcher because I'm always looking for Redbreast whiskey everywhere I go. It was the brand that sent me down my Irish whiskey journey.
I love redbreast! The 12 cask strength is my absolute favorite! It feels natural for Martin to be there. Never had the all sherry and the 27 yo though.
The 27 year is $550 where I am, which means I will NEVER have it. lol
Thanx to you guy's and girls for getting me try this whisky....damm the nr.12 is great
Sipped on some Redbreast Lustau right along with you guys, I’m with Darren Redbreast 12yr is my everyday sipper.
Ok stopped the video, have not seen Martin in a while and you bring him back for this one. THANK YOU!
Red Breast is among my list of recommendations for friends that want to get into whiskey. Great choice!
I love the genuine delight and happiness. Slainte.
It appears Callyann can carry a note too 😊
I was at a Whiskey X event in New York and the Redbreast 12 was the best thing I tasted there. It was the only one that was truly memorable, honestly.
I've died and gone to heaven! Been asking for Redbreast 12 and Glencairn glasses for the crew for like 2 years! So awsome to see them enjoy it so much!
I'm from America, but I would love to drink Red Breast with any of you! Great video I have only had 12 year,it was delicious.
Martin is so right! It is who you are drinking with. Luv you guys.
Red Breast is my absolute favorite Irish Whiskey!
Magic of being totally in sync with someone, unspoken, unconscious, see at 10:18 And Callyann is a melody in cream colors, cheesecake!
I actually bought the Red Breast Lustau & the and a bottle of the Lustau oloroso sherry together to see if I could find the similarities, and it worked. Surprisingly well in fact. You should try it. To be honest, not the biggest pure sherry guy, but we use it in cooking quite a bit.
