Best Try shoot ever. During the recording I was only pretending to listen to Darren's facts and was silently plotting how to leave with all of that whiskey
I think that when it comes to Darren's whiskey factoids, you just sort of have to let them absorb into your bloodstream, where, like a good whiskey, they will eventually leave you with a warm glow... of knowledge.
@Martin Angolo Comedy Ha, ha! I just came here to post the following: I've been waiting to see a Darren/Martin pairing for an alcohol shoot, yet I sense that your energy vis-à-vis Darren's whiskey tutorial is, "Eh, whatever. Let's drink."
Actually, he could probably do something like they do in Mendoza Argentina with wineries. Set up tours for tourists where they visit 2 or 3 different distilleries and then do a tasting, and he can explain the process/characteristics and instruct each group
They must have told Darren that Martin would be there and that they were bringing out the good shit. Both are dressed very classy. (Martin always is) Only thing missing is big leather chairs and a fireplace.
Seamus missed the opportunity to hit us with a “Smooood”. Never change, sir. We celebrate your dialect and tune in for this as well as the great personalities in the videos!
I still get the most entertainment when the Try participants are enjoying themselves. This is a rare case where I'd double the number of participants (maybe triple) and extend the running time accordingly.
Darren is giving major dad vibes in his jacket and whiskey knowledge. All he needs is a pair of glasses and some grey hair at the temples and his professor look would be complete. 👨🏫
Darren looks like he’s about to cry he’s so happy. I never realized just how many brands of Irish whiskey there are. The TRY Channel is always great for an education! Love you guys lots!!!
A buddy of mine absolutely LOVES Redbreast. He's always saying that Redbreast 12 is a wonderful gateway into Irish whiskey. He's really gonna like this video.
If there could be a happiness quotient metric in UA-cam videos, this would fit as the gold standard. The joy multiplied at every sip and I’m here for it. 🥃 Signed a Lagavulin drinker who’s never mad at RB.

I've had the 12, the 12 Cask Strength and the Lustau. I love them all. As an American with Irish ancestry, I thought it is my duty to mansplain the origins of Irish Single Pot Still Whiskey to actual Irish natives. :-) The English instituted a tax on malted barley in 1785. To lessen the impact of this tax, those crafty Irish distillers decided to use both malted and unmalted barley in their distilleries. And the Single Pot Still Whiskey was invented. Also, the age statement discloses the youngest whiskey in the bottle. There could be older whiskeys in there, but nothing younger.
Thank you I requested this video. As a member of the Irish whiskey party based in Savannah Georgia USA we have many Irish whiskeys imported and the absolute favorite from year after year after year which every member stocks in their own homes is the 12-year-old
Ok, do the people who end up being paired with Martin end up coordinating with him the night before? Cause it feels like they end up dressing classier with him than with others
Darren's point about preferring the 12 makes sense. I've heard several whiskey makers and aficionados say that 12 years is about the maximum age (and some would say "prime") before the wood starts to have a negative effect on the liquor. "25 years", "50 years", and so on sound fancy, and get an equally fancy price, but more isn't always better.
Absolutely LOVE Callyanne. She makes me crack up every time I see her on. Love your channel guys and gals. You bring light to my day. Keep up the good work👊😁. All my love😘
I just picked up a bottle of Redbreast 12 year old. I haven’t cracked it open yet. Bourbon is King in America but I was looking for something smoother. This makes me happy to see how enjoyable it is.
I'm rarely influenced by other peoples opinions.......but OMG. Picked up a bottle of the 12 year old for $65 USA dollars and nursed on it like a newborn. One of the best whiskeys I have had.
I purchased a $115 bottle of 15, worth every penny. I drank it 1 shot at a time, sipping it slowly savoring every subtle nuance. Each time was a short visit to heaven. Thank you Guys.
So many satisfied faces on this shoot, this may never happen again. It would have been nice to have all the Tryer's that make Whiskey faces try these, I say we have a Part 2. Thank you Darren for the Redbreast Whiskey education, I'm going to go out and buy myself one, or two, .......who are we kidding I'll eventually get them all.
Thanks for the tip to pop in and watch this. Don't know how I missed it, but starting with the 12 I was like...yep, this is gonna be a good one. And it was. Darren and Martin together was a dream pairing.
It was nice seeing Graeme again!!! I am missing Donal though. Haven't seen him on here in quite a while. Would love to see Donal and Dermot together again!!!
@@Whiskyfan519 I've been wanting to get a bottle of RedBreast to try, but the 12 is the upper end of my price range for being a very occasional and novice drinker. Where I am it's $66 for the 12 year, and $95 for the 12 year cask strength. $115 for the 15 year. $300 for the 21year, and $550 for the 27 year.
@@Patryn71 that's bargain prices compared to where I'm at. But yeah if I had to only get one bottle I'd get the 12 cask strength, the regular 12 (I had a side by side of the 12 and 15 about an hour ago) has a smoother mouthfeel than the 15 but is sweeter and not as "exciting" as the 15. But the 15 is not worth the premium over the 12 imo. That bottle of "all sherry" that they got is a limited single cask release and is between 400 American upwards to a thousand dollars a bottle from my quick search. If you got the cash available and would like to try it I definitely recommend. Being casual it really depends though. If you nose, sip and experiment with whisky or just want something to sip by the fire that's not too challenging. If you're just into having something smooth look into Jameson stout edition. Same distillery just not the same level of quality or price.
@@Whiskyfan519 I got hooked on Crown Royal Cask 16 back when it came out. I had a friend that owned a bar and I got some killer deals through him. He doesn't come across as a whiskey snob. He comes across as a whiskey fanboy. He isn't trying to impress anybody. He just really likes to geek out about whiskey.
Loved the video as I’m a HUGE redbreast fan and drinker! It is the true standard bearer for all Irish whiskey! I have the Dreamcask 32 year, 30 and 29 years and those will never be beat
I bought a bottle of the 21 year old to toast my father's passing in January. I can attest that it is very similar to the 12 (like the 15) but it is like the 12 dialed up to 11, if you get my meaning. It was amazing and I think of my father every time I drink it. Thanks Tryers, something new in this for me to try, I have been curious about the Lustau; and I haven't even seen the sherry cask only one, but I do love a cask strength whiskey.
I’ve watched this video so many times. A) introduced me to Redbreast and I’m a total convert. B) Pairings are beautiful to behold. Love me anything with Seamus Graeme Cally Martin and Darren. Spot on with the commentary (“have some more there” and “i will not” from Graeme absolutely cracked me up). And finally C) don’t ever change Try. Whiskey videos are some of my favorites, but this one takes the cake. The expressions of joy that you each have are great selling points for Redbreast.
I've never even heard of Redbreast whiskey prior to seeing this video. I've also never seen a whiskey on Try that the crew had such a reverence for. Like I've seen all the lads speak highly of a great variety of whiskeys and spirits, but you can see here this has is something genuinely extra special, and it's not their words that convey this sentiment.
All of them are great but The Redbreast Lustau is my favorite of this line 🇮🇪 🥃 Sláinte. I don't know if you're aware of this but there is another channel using your content it's called LuvTryChannel
Finally! My absolute favorite Irish whiskey bar none. Just love that stuff. Standing birthday wish is a bottle of 15 year. Truly great. Can’t wait to try the All Sherry, haven’t seen it in the US yet, but I’ll be looking for it.
If Darren was a Dungeons and Dragons character, he'd have a feature called Whiskey Cunning: Double Proficiency on all History checks concerning Whiskey and Distilleries 😂
I'd suggest checking out the spot whiskeys next. Green Spot, Yellow Spot, Red Spot, and the cask strength Blue Spot. They're all fabulous and I'm sure that you will enjoy them.

This whiskey is really great. Last summer I helped an Irish family find their great grandfather's grave in my town. It was buried. I felt there was more to the story so I got other people to help me get more information and solve a few mysteries. Hundred years ago John O'Halloran fled Ireland after the war of independence. He came to America with a bayonet wound which became infected and spent months in the hospital. Tragically he was killed in a shoe factory fire. He never got to see his unborn child. I found his grave the day before they arrived. It obviously meant a lot to them and the bottle of Redbreast was a fine thank you. I know I know but I sung Danny Boy at his grave and took a drink. Slainte!
Lovely to see all the regulars in this shoot, and welcome Graeme. it may not be his first shoot with Try but he's new to me! You did a fine job and don't worry about certain alcohols tasting the same; your palate will blossom and mature with more experience.
That Redbreast 12 won a Gold Medal at the 2019 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, the 2019 winner at the Ultimate Spirits Challenge, and a Gold Medal at the 2018 International Wine and Spirits Competition. And the Redbreast 12 cask strength is my favorite whiskey across the board.
Great video as always. I'm a very eclectic whiskey drinker. I have a collection of bourbons, Tennessee whiskeys, and Scotches, but I only have one Irish, and that's Redbreast. Smoothest whiskey ever.
Lady and gentleman this was a great taste test video. Fabulous whiskey and even better company. Darren hits the mark with sound judgment about the drinks offered with Martin ending with a ten. Callie Ann, again holds her own. Thank you.
Sherry Cask is a total game changer. Back in like, 2014, Captain Morgan released a limited edition Sherry cask aged blended rum, and i swear to god if it was still available, it would be the only thing i would drink.
OMG--so nice to see Graeme again--been far too long. Darren is always such a revelation when it comes to whiskey. I think our Dermot missed out on this one.
Oh my gods, you did a whiskey video without Dermot? O.O He's gonna be SO mad LMAO. That being said, I've never tried Redbreast. Guess I'm going to have to give this one a try myself :D
Redbreast is fantastic! I've had the 12 year, the Lustau, and the 15 year. Like Darren, I much prefer the 12 year or the Lustau over the 15 year. The 15 year is double the price of the 12 year, and I definitely don't feel like it is worth it.
@@mlmmt in my area the 3 that I've tried are the only 3 that are available. I would gladly try any other variations of Redbreast that show up in the middle of the USA.
Thank You! Today has been a rough day and this video actually made me giggle. I really appreciate the levity. Especially Darren miming the 3 stages of a bird in flight
Thank you for the tip. I have a friend who I've know for maybe 25 years. He doesn't drink often but he always rant about his Irish heritage proudly. So I think I might buy him a bottle of this as a early birthday gift or late wedding gift.

As a wino, Redbreast genuinely frightened me.
Thank you.
As an American, Redbreast 12 is my favorite Irish whiskey, and one of my favorite whiskey's period.
Darren, Martin and Seamus the trifecta of whiskey knowledge. And adorable too.
As a fan of the TRY channel and REDBREAST, I was waiting for this video, thank you for the entertainment
I love Callyann's extended pinky finger as she shoots down the whiskey like it's lemonade. A proper lady's form!
Oh my gods, you did a whiskey video without Dermot? O.O He's gonna be SO mad LMAO. That being said, I've never tried Redbreast. Guess I'm going to have to give this one a try myself :D
They should have doubled the participants and doubled the run time of the video---it would have been worth it.
Martin is so right! It is who you are drinking with. Luv you guys.
Redbreast is fantastic! I've had the 12 year, the Lustau, and the 15 year. Like Darren, I much prefer the 12 year or the Lustau over the 15 year. The 15 year is double the price of the 12 year, and I definitely don't feel like it is worth it.
It's good stuff!
There is also the cask strength 12 year, which is
@@mlmmt in my area the 3 that I've tried are the only 3 that are available. I would gladly try any other variations of Redbreast that show up in the middle of the USA.
I've seen this video multiple times and I still comeback to watch it. Very informative and entertaining.
Welcome back, Graeme! It's been a while.
Redbreast 12 tastes like Christmas and I love it!
I feel like an avid bird watcher because I'm always looking for Redbreast whiskey everywhere I go. It was the brand that sent me down my Irish whiskey journey.
As usual, Seamus brings the wisdom, "the wood makes it good". That's really all you need to know about Whiskey.
Hubby found this whiskey when we went to Ireland and still loves it.
I appreciate Darren's immense knowledge of all things whiskey. Could listen to him talk about the finer points all day long.
I love hearing Darren talk about whiskey! ❤
Ok stopped the video, have not seen Martin in a while and you bring him back for this one. THANK YOU!
OMG! Hi Graeme! It's nice to see you again! Also, I'm making a list of the types of whiskeys that I have to buy next time I go to a Liquor Store.
It's who you're driving the whiskey with. Absolutely agree. Drinking with your best mate could turn the worst whiskey into a priceless bottle.
Absolute best Whiskey on the planet.
Currently drinking my first glass ever of Redbreast 12 while watching this. Totally enjoying it.
FINALLY!!! Irish Whiskey worth drinking!!!🤟🤟🤟❤️❤️❤️. The single pot,15 year is the absolute BEST Irish I have ever had.
3:17 Now I want a Kenny Rogers Roaster chicken.
Redbreast is one of THE best sipping whiskeys!!!!!! Love it! 😍😍😍
Magic of being totally in sync with someone, unspoken, unconscious, see at 10:18 And Callyann is a melody in cream colors, cheesecake!
