  • In today's project, we’re filling the barn with firewood we made with the Timberwolf Pro HD XL processor. We’ll use the Split Force 13/20T to split it down to size and the built in conveyor to load it in the barn to dry. We’ll break out the Kioti RX7320 4x4 tractor to push the wood in the door and closer to the splitter. Don’t forget to leave your guess for how much wood is in the pile in the comments!

    Just wanted to say I really enjoy your channel. I appreciate the laidback style, total lack of attitude, as well as not adding a bunch of personal opinions of unrelated topics, shall we say. It's just refreshing to see somebody working at a normal pace and not running around all crazy trying to impress somebody. I like the tone, the whole setup, equipment, and the way you treat your customers. Just the whole operation is high quality, including the voice over, videography, and editing. I honestly appreciate the effort it takes to do this. Thanks.

    With rising natural gas & propane costs, firewood would be a good investment. Definitely a better investment than FTX lol.

    The more I see if your wood yard the more I like
    Will wait for the next lottery results prior to planning a similar set up.
    May I contact you for consultation

      Lighting is tough in that old barn, tried to get it bright as I could in there. This setup works pretty well. Planning a home and shop build in the future, and wrestle almost daily with how I want the "permanent" layout. Always available for free consultations (per diem and expense account only 🤣)! Thanks so much for watching!

    Thanks for bringing us along. I'm guessing about 7 cords stack up from the loose pile. When I left home for school Dad started getting split firewood delivered (dumped in a pile from a truck). He never told me why? LOL. He would get 6 cords. That pile looks like what I would stock the garage and boiler room from when I came home on occasional weekends and breaks. Will be interesting to see if my estimate is anywhere close.

      Sounds like a great Dad, waiting on you to bring the wood in so you wouldn't miss out, you know, since you both missed out on the cutting and splitting part 🤣. It's amazing the amount of folks I meet daily that have so many memories brought back by firewood! Always appreciate you watching!

    What is that continual clanking noise around 3:52 and before? It's not the foot pedal or the wood hitting the conveyor on its way out from what I can see. That metallic noise doesn't seem to line up with any visible action

    • @FoxfireProjects
      @FoxfireProjects  Рік тому

      Funny you should mention that haha. It randomly started making that noise. Checked everything easy, and couldn't find any visible culprits, so went digging for an answer. Stay tuned for that in an upcoming video!

    What's your opinion on Poplar for firewood ? Just got a ton of it today. Do you sell that type of wood at all?

    • @FoxfireProjects
      @FoxfireProjects  Рік тому +1

      I like Poplar. It grows like weeds in my area, so there’s no shortage. I use it a lot in my campfire and outdoor fire pit mixes. Great cheap bundle wood. It’s also what I personally heat the shop with. We aren’t at the shop all day, just early morning, so the Poplar is great for a quick hot fire. Doesn’t have near the BTUs as Oak or Ash, but we don’t market it as a premium product. Hope this helps. Appreciate you watching!

    What wood is this? Do you just keep Oak in the outside firewood bags? Only hickory and Pecan goes under shed?

    • @FoxfireProjects
      @FoxfireProjects  Рік тому +1

      This is all Oak going inside here, specifically the small split pizza oven wood. We've got another large barn that houses all the flavor woods; Hickory, Pecan, Cherry, and Apple. Have a video a while back where I did a walk through of that barn. Hoping to film an updated version soon. Normal split Oak firewood is what goes in the bags and those are kept outside to season, which works really well surprisingly. Thanks for watching!

      @@FoxfireProjects ok that's what I thought , another question can you do a walk around with all your buildings , land set up & shop , I'm watching and I truly don't know where everything is in reference to each other. Really appreciate the compliments. I film in several different spots. The barn with the wood cribs, is at my personal farm. The shop with the lift is next door at my company's yard. The chicken house full of wood is at a buddy's place. And the wood yard with all the stacked wood bags is my buddy's operation. Will give a tour of the various places in a future video.
      The Split Force was around $19k USD, that was however before the pandemic and all of the supply chain/material shortages, so I'm sure like everything else, the price has increased a bit. Thanks so much for watching!

    Seems inefficient. Why not first split to the size you ultimately want? Extra handling is extra expense.

    • @FoxfireProjects
      @FoxfireProjects  Рік тому +1

      I’ve always been honest in my videos, that this is certainly not the most efficient part of my operation. The reason why is two fold.
      The first and most important is the wood inside this barn is all smaller split cooking wood. My customers that use this demand higher quality, and as a result there is a much larger profit margin for me to handle a bit more as needed to deliver that quality. The second is UA-cam. Folks wanted to see the Timberwolf processor in action, and I was happy not running a chainsaw that weekend. It made a nice pile of large split wood right at the door to my barn, that I didn’t touch other than with the tractor. So now, I’m technically only handling the wood once, running it through the Split Force to put in the barn for drying.
      Certainly don’t have a perfect operation, but I improve as I can, and take extra time to film for UA-cam content as I go. Appreciate you watching!
