- This is my Simplicity 7350 upright vacuum, (which I believe to be from the early 2000s) that I bought locally on OfferUp. I've always wanted another Tacony vacuum since owning my Riccar 8955 ( • Riccar 8955 Upright Va... ) that I don't have anymore, and I've always wanted to try out the Simplicity version of that vacuum, so now that I have this, this is quite a great piece to my collection. This vacuum was used pretty heavily by the previous owner, so I had to some work to this when I bought it, like replacing the headlights from being blown out, some attachments that went missing, and even the power cord since the original had exposed wires, and after all that work was done, this vacuum turned out pretty good. This vacuum features a brush roll on/off feature controlled by a small switch down on the head of the vacuum, how it works is when a small lever is connected to a little mechanism on the brush roll that slides the roller when the brush roll is disengaged and slides back over to connect when engaged. An optional hose attachment is available if you want increased reach if you live in a house with stairs. It features a 12 amp 2 stage motor with clean air design and takes type A bags (I run the HEPA cloth bags for increased filtration). The suction and airflow are amazing on this machine and the agitation is incredible being that the bristles are actually made out of nylon. My only complaint about this vacuum mostly revolves around the front axle setup hanging up on the rug plate and not letting the brush roll sit into the carpet as effective as it should, but other than that, this is an excellent machine, and I love it.
Had a problem with the clutch mechanism twisted to inside. With your video I was able to get the cltch and rod in the proper position. Thanks. This is the best suking vacuum ive owned. Been running 20 years!
These as well as the Riccar versions are definitely the best. It's really a shame Tacony doesn't sell products like these anymore, even their Symmetry/Vibrance vacuums were pretty good.
Thanks for the video... just replaced the belt and it was helpful to see the positioning of the clutch rod. My machine runs like new and we got it for free! Yay!!
The 7 series is one of my favorite Simplicitys and the 7350 happened to be one of my favorite models of the 7 series. They debuted in 1995, and this particular one was made in 2001
They're such great cleaners, I honestly prefer them to the equivalent Riccar 8 series since their brush system allows it to dig into the carpet more effectively than the Riccar version with its floating head.
I can't find anything online showing how to replace the belt?
@@awkwardautistic search for the downloadable manual on line
Your serial number shows that it was manufactured in the second quarter of 2001.
There is a difference between yours and the maroon 7-series. While they both have the clutch operated brush rolls and 12a motors the maroon version has a twin-stage motor while the green one does not. Not all 7-series had twin stage motors.
The Riccar 8955 you mention of also has the twin stage motor. Also your vacuum takes a Type B bag which is slightly longer and larger, but the Type A bag does fit.
You were complaining a bit about how the bottom plate doesn't latch on easily. Depress the release pedal and allow the height adjuster assembly to move down and out of the way when putting the bottom plate on. It will give you better clearance.
Thanks for your video! Overall an excellent presentation of a great classic.
Thanks for decoding the date for me, and from my understanding, this green 7350 was really the predecessor to the maroon 7850, and these actually came original with the same 2 stage motor as the 7850. There was another green variant of the 7 series that was the 7750 which was sold in the same time period as the maroon 7850 was, but the only difference that had compared to the 7850 is that it didn't have a clutch operated brush roll, and it had the same 2 stage motor as the 7850 did. I know there was a period of time when Tacony did use an Ametek Lamb built 2 stage motor back then before developing the Duratec 2 stage motor in later years, perhaps this has the 2 stage Ametek motor rather than the Duratec that the 7850 definitely has, who knows?
Thanks for your video's. I just got a Eureka Excalibur 12 amp Quiet Kleen at Goodwill for $10 everything works, almost Newbag, adjetator brush is clean, long bristles, soft, both lights work only came with the crevice attachment. It is a fine vacuume for price. Now to find Belts & Bags that work.
For that, you'll need Eureka RD belts and Eureka (not to be confused with Hoover) Style Y bags
Funnily enough I just picked up one of these. Has all the attachments and the extra hose. The gaskets on the bags are rotted, but it works great. I just need a cord hook as the old ones broken. It's super quiet and cleans really well. I'm very impressed with it so far
This is my all time favorite model from not just under the Simplicity brand but out of all the vacuums Tacony has ever sold, even the central vacs. Wished they still sold that model in green until the discontinuation of the entire 7 Series line.
Agreed, I know it practically the same as the 7850, but I prefer this 7350 color wise. And it's really a shame the Simplicity 7 series/Riccar 8 series were discontinued, these were great cleaners. I always thought the last good clean air Tacony vacuums were the Simplicity Symmetry, and Riccar Vibrance, S20UP/R20UP respectively.
Almost, the 7850 was technically an upgrade over the 7350. It had rubber wheels, better stretch hose, more layers of filtration, a stronger twin fan motor, smaller light bulbs, and an extra year on the warranty. Same goes for the Riccar 8955 over the 8850. I totally agree with you, I wished those were still being made today. At least I wished the Ultra Premium models were still being made since they did got some things right over the 8 and 7 Series models, however I personally liked the 8 and 7 Series more (I have the 7750 in my collection and have already shown on my channel). I also really like the R20P.2 that my uncle has which I've also already shown on my channel, I think it is even more powerful than the R20UP. But I think their best bypass models are their central vacs which you can still buy today.
I recently picked up a 7300. It's a nice vacuum. Had to replace the belt. The vacuum won't seem to lock in the upright position though. Trying to figure what is wrong and if I can resolve it. Also need to source some replacement bulbs for the headlamps. What I like about these units is they appear to have the same or similar quality motors like the Panasonics had.
Ametek Lamb and Panasonic made some excellent quality vacuum motors. As for replacement light bulbs, the official light bulb size for this is a BA15D that uses a double contact base. There are however specific light bulbs available for these, as well as for Kenmore, Electrolux, and Panasonic, all of which are 15 watts. Amazon does sell LED lights in that same BA15D size.
Nice Machine, my favorite simplicity is my (1994) Simplicity 5000A.
do you still have it and does it have the original motor? thank you
Man I’m still kicking myself in the pants for passing on one of these at the swap meet for $5…. Too young, no room and had a taped cord at the time.
id say panasonic borrowed from hoover's dail a matic
Panasonic bought the Dial-A-Matic design from Hoover.
@@panasonicvac4036 I thought Hoover sold the technology to Panasonic and they used it to develop the Jet Flo series.
Yeah that's right. It was Riccar that Panasonic gave permission to borrow the design from them.
@@panasonicvac4036 I do wonder how that design went into the Essco cleaners like Cirrus, Prolux, Bernina, etc. But I do remember one of the first Riccar uprights was an HP30 which was essentially a rebadged MC-6200 series Jet Flo.
HELP please. I just got this vacuum at the thrift store for $35.. the belt is broken though and I've no idea how to replace it. The bottom plate is plastic.. looks like the brush and plate were replaced. I've always had Kirbys... so idk how to do this one lol
This has 2 simple latches on the bottom to remove the rug plate, and the brush roll will pop out, but you have to be wary about the rod that runs along the side that's connected to the brush roll since that's a part of the clutch system, be sure that's connected when you re-attach it, and also that the latches on the roller are lined up on the inside.
@@graysonsvacsandmowers5426 thank you so much! I just ordered the belt.. wish me luck!
@@awkwardautistic There should also be other videos that should help you out in case I didn't. Even the belt change tutorials of the Riccar versions should give you some leeway.
How do I take this apart to ship it?
All you can do is remove the handle by the screw on the back of the vacuum.
