    Someone explain what is he doing with the suspension? All I see is him replacing some kind of ring. Does that affect the suspension's stiffness?

    • @janvandijk4514
      @janvandijk4514 2 роки тому +2

      It affects the suspension. Probably just enough to give him more grip and trust to go faster. Could be 1 to 5 sec on a SS

      I believe he is changing the spring preload which shortens or lengthens the travel depending on how big a washer you are using

    Is there a time limit for these maintenance? They don't look like they're in a hurry.

    • @Phenomenal
      @Phenomenal  2 роки тому +1

      yes they do have time limit, but seems they had enough time to make changes - they do small tweaks before each stage, depending on situation, and over time its become sort of natural for them :)

    • @xXturbo86Xx
      @xXturbo86Xx Рік тому +1

      This is just a quick tire swap between stages. There's always some time given to them, especially when they're driving through traffic to go to the next stage. After a series of stages, they'll go to the parc ferme and the mechanics will do an overall inspection/maintenance and repairs.

    Can someone explain to me what is going on? I am new, but I assume they're allowed to make repairs to their own car, but this isn't while the stage is running? I know the mechanics have a set time they can work on the car, so anything else has to be done by the drivers?
    And why do the front wheels not move when he torques them? Do they have a special handbrake, or device to lock the brakes?

    • @tutelarius

      This is between stages. The timed stages are some distance apart, and they drive between the end of one stage and the start of another. Depending on when the next stage starts they have time to make repairs/adjustments, etc.

      Rallying is like a ~2000km roadtrip with timed sections (special stages, SS) that you have to complete as fast as possible. The sections between stages are called liaisons and you have limited time to drive them. You will get 10 seconds penalty for every minute you are late or early.
      Example of a timecard:
      Hours:Minutes:Seconds
      Start of the rally: 10:01
      time to drive: 00:10
      SS1 Time control: 10:11
      SS1 Start: 10:14
      SS1 Finish: 10:30:18
      time to drive: 00:18
      SS2 Time control: 10:48
      SS2 Start: 10:51
      SS2 Finish: 11:15:58
      time to drive: 01:11
      Finish of the rally: 12:26
      There are different type of timecards but i used the one we use in Finland. More simple imo.
