      It's not an Olympic bar. The tensile strength of a powerlifting bar is far greater then one used in Olympic lifting. They are build as best they can be within the rules not to bend. However the weight is getting to a point where for the larger weight classes and for geared lifting, a heavier 25kg bar might need to be brought in to stop the bending and whipping of the bar.

    • @kylethekidable
      @kylethekidable 6 років тому +35

      The reason is because the IPF wants to get powerlifting into the olympics and of several points of contention with the IOC one they repeatedly spoke of is not being fans of monolifts and similar racks. They would just rather pull the squat racks they already use for oly lifters warming up, onto the stage, which is essentially what rack IPF already uses.

    Why is his squat heavier than deadlift?

    • @timrestieaux9600
      @timrestieaux9600 7 років тому +217

      Leverages and positioning. The size of many 120+ lifters means that there's added support in the bottom of the squat but conversely a more awkward deadlift start position.

    • @JONES534
      @JONES534 6 років тому +137

      they say a big belly helps your squat, but takes away from your deadlift...this might hold true for him.

    • @samuelrussell5760
      @samuelrussell5760 6 років тому +124

      Could also be grip. It's very difficult to build the grip to hold 1000lbs.

    • @JONES534
      @JONES534 6 років тому +60

      true, it is hard to 1,000lbs, but if you watch the video again, on all his dead's he can't get his body over the bar, his gut gets in the way. that's why they say big guts help squats, but take away from the dead.

    • @toopkarcher4941
      @toopkarcher4941 6 років тому +110

      Also the deadlifts happen after 3 heavy ass squats. There's no way you can be 100% after 3 heavy ass squats and bench presses.

  • @sauciewok8949

    The spotters are suppose to be under the weights during the squat not trying to catch it in the deadlift position.
