His head down, a troubled man is walking alone. Lost in thought, he pauses as if listening... to a voice that only he hears. Reflecting, recognition comes quickly... after all there was only one person it could have been... only one who hummed, crooned and murmured, serenading him with that odd, unearthly sound just before he fell asleep, drifting away as she sat beside him sewing, stitch after stitch, her hands in a feverish fit of constant motion. But it was so long ago... why should it come back to him now? Suddenly, out of nowhere, a doll hit him in the chest, bouncing off and landing at his feet. Bending over, he picked it up, shocked by the feeling of recognition. Identical to him, the crudely fashioned figure was bald, wore glasses, and its knees, sticking out from a pair of funky grey shorts, were knobby and gnarled... the similarity was uncanny. Protruding from its face, its chest, its arms and legs were pins... fifty, sixty, maybe a hundred.... But the thing that really struck him was the jacket... tweed and exactly like the one he wore years ago. The jacket was worn and tattered, but the stitching was exquisite.
Yes, a sound totally progressed (or should I say evolved) into the year 2018, and still as apart as the Residents, as always. Can't wait for the total album to receive. And hopefully the show to attend...
Woah! I have been googling the residents a lot for my halloween costume and suddenly google sends me a notification about the new album! I'm looking forward to listening all of it
After 50 years the most subversive thing The Residents COULD do was record straightforward material like this and especially the Metal, Meat and Bone demos. It's their final frontier: "Normal Music." I think that's cool as hell.
I miss the organic tones of the 70s 80s. The mystery. The unknown instruments. I hear a band not the Residents. I guess the show must go on no matter wich musicians. Yet the singer is as usual phenomenal, such a great voice both speaking and singing. I miss the Residents.
The Residents always did all kinds of different music and tried out different styles. That's the beauty of their stuff. You can't pidgeonhole them and say "You're this and not that".
yeah, you wouldnt want them doing the same thing for 50 years, that would be the worst thing ever, like the best bands the residents has grown and evolved and these two last albums has been some of their best. Any ways this album has kind of a similar live sound to The Big Bubble, but more jazzy and that was one of the 80s Resident albums.
@@Andor. you’re a sandwich. I get that every band needs to evolve but bro intruders was one of their worst albums. Hence the sandwich bit in the beginning. Watersports jamboree
@@marinewelsh9927 I'm a bit sick of seeing people saying this kinda thing. I really don't understand why people even think this because I mean they're still doing what they've always done just the way they do it has evolved. I mean this song while more normal than a lot of their stuff is pretty different from the rest of the album. There's much weirder tracks like Still Needy? and Frank's Lament. They haven't sold out or gone mainstream they've just changed because that's what The Residents do now and always.
@@marinewelsh9927 HARD disagree. They've been on a roll lately with Intruders, Ghost Of Hope and Metal Meat And Bone. Intruders and MMB specifically are favourites of mine.
Rest in Peace, Hardy Fox, Heaven's Resident Muse. Blessed Be.
The best single from The Residents in years !!
Unique inovators that have no parallel .
YES! Back to the classics!

You " miss the Residents?" Really? Have you heard the rest of the album? Frank's Lament ?
I mean, they’re like 75 years old and only one original member is still alive and active. Can ya cut em a little slack?

Really gives off gorillaz vibes
When you think about it, during the Randy, Chuck and Bob era, the band was kind of like a live action version of Gorillaz.
I am getting some Gorillaz vibes from this idk just what I feel
From the song or video?
This track feels in-tune with Plastic Beach, dark, but a relaxed dugged up guitar to back it up.
I wonder what a collaboration between Gorillaz and The Residents/Homer Flynn would sound like.
After 50 years The Residents went mainstream.
No they didn't.
