  • Hi everyone,
Here am sharing with you my latest interpretation of Grandjany's Rhapsody for Harp and a few personal thoughts. It is one of my favourite pieces in our harp repertoire. This music is composed on a gregorian chant, Salve Festa Dies, an Easter Song. When I listened it to get an impression, realised that the original mode is Phrygian, which is very similar to Kurdi Maqam in the eastern music. That's already point one, which makes music a universal language, it is just amazing to see how many common things we have as societies and how the roots are transformed and grown differently in different parts of world. I love the sacredness, deepness and how Mr. Grandjany transforms the main melody in each section and connects each fragment in this composition.
    Enjoy!
    Harp: Gunes Hizlilar
    Recording engineer: Lane Hots
Recorded live at the @Sae Institute Berlin on the 22nd of March*
*this is another personal memory; on one of the lockdown days I was scrolling down through my Instagram feed and came across with Sae Institute's post, where they announce a prize draw for a studio session and a gorgeous Neumann TLM 102 mic. Randomly decided participating and after that it happened to be that I am the winner. We fix the date and I recorded several pieces at the studio of Sae Institute Berlin under the supervision of audio engineer Lane Hots and got my Neumann which I will appearently use for many of the coming events as long as global pandemic doesn't slow down and let us have live concerts again.
