I lived there off and on for over 25 years. It's pretty and all but I don't plan on ever going back. 😉😉

Excellent video. How do you even come across a lot of these facts? I've been trying to learn about Alpena in WW2. Read the book "Alpena: The Town that Went to War." Great book about the lives of the people there during the war but very little on the industrial history during the war. Has nothing of shipbuilding or the gun manufacturing done at Besser.

In many cases I spend some time at visitor centers or libraries and chat with the folks before I go out an explore. Great way to learn some history, often they will provide written materials on people, events, and buildings, and just plain fun to talk to at times!
