Shaden Gardood & Omo Santana - My Aunt - شادن محمد حسين

On May 12, 2023, Shaden Gardood, one of the most prominent singers in Sudan, was killed after a mortar hit her house in Omdurman.
Shaden Gardood met Omo Santana in Khartoum in November 2021, when he was in Sudan for the preparation of the second Karmakol Festival. The two liked each other and talked about working together. Shaden recorded one of her Sudanese songs acapella to a click track and Omo Santana was to contribute music for a demo. Then came the coup, the cancellation of the festival, and later the clash between two generals in which Shaden was murdered.
The present track was created with the voice of Shaden from the year 2021. We will miss her.

She was an ingenious intellectual. She had a unique style of traditional songs that she performed in the media. The Sudanese culture is rich and must always be presented with a rationale and dose of awareness. Shaden fought to achieve her goals by updating and refreshing the traditional songs using the new musical instruments. Unfortunately, her sound was silenced by the killing machine. Damn Burhan & Hemaidti have been destroying our people and dreams. We will survive and the state rebuilding is going to take place.
