    Excellent video. Intense but easy to understand. My tobacco plant is showing a white residue at the surface soil. Just near the stem area. I'm using Poland Spring bottled water. There seems no effect at all. Great stuff Misilla.

    Hi from southern Oregon,
    You have some really good looking soil. I have to go back to worm castings. I have been using wood chips for part of my garden and they have lots of worms, so I can set up a worm bed again.
    thanks!

    I need to make up a batch of worm tea today. Are you having a problem with aphids? My garden and yard is overrun with aphids! It must be the humid days mixed with sunshine and misty rain. Your plants all look healthy and green! Time to go make that tea....

    Hi and thank you for your videos. How often would i throw down some worm castings on fruit trees planted in the ground? Thank you.

    • @LearnToGrow1
      @LearnToGrow1  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Billie, If they are already established, I just fertilize in early spring before buds open. For potted fruit trees, at least once a month during the growing season as nutrients get washed away as you water. You can also use a balanced fertilizer especially during flower and fruit production. A 10-10-10 NPK ratio.Thanks for watching!

    Hello :) your videos are so helpful, THANK YOU. I do have a question, how often do you use the castings and casting tea? i just bought it... i have few young peach and plum trees as well as some young strawberry plants and growing currant, blueberry bushes. How often would you suggest using the castings and casting tea on them?

    • @LearnToGrow1
      @LearnToGrow1  4 роки тому +3

      Hi, You’re welcome! You can put worm castings in the soil in the spring and every three to four weeks. For potted plants two to three weeks. Add about an inch layer next to the plants or around the tree as a top dressing then lightly scratch into the soil without disturbing the roots. If you use the worm tea, you can apply it every two weeks. Thanks for watching, have a great week! Misilla

    Hi Misilla, I live in WA in a rental; so, am unable to bring in raised beds or till up the ground where the grass is growing. I do have some fabric pots where I am growing some vegetables. Since I got such a lat start with planting, I was limited to the plants that I could get at BiMart and Fred Meyer. I have a problem with some kind of insect or insects chewing on the leaves. But, I have not found an insect crawling on the leaves. What can I do to prevent or deter more insects from damaging the leaves?

    • @LearnToGrow1
      @LearnToGrow1  5 років тому

      Hi Donna,
      It could be slugs eating at night and they hide underneath the plants during the day. You can lay a cardboard next to your plants and you should find slugs under it the next morning. Cabbage worms eat early in the morning too , so that’s a good time to look for them. Fabric pots are great and I grow in them as well !

    Hi Misilla....wondering why your using vermistera when you do your own vermicomposting? Is this stuff better than if you have your own worm bin?

    Beautiful garden.......
    So essentially there’s no such thing as overfeeding a plant? 😁

    • @LearnToGrow1
      @LearnToGrow1  5 років тому

      Thank you, Mateo. The nutrients in worm castings are slowly released so it can feed plants for up to a month or so. Worm castings will also not burn the plants as the nitrogen is also encased in the mucus membrane from the worms’ digestive tract. Thank you for watching!

    Arent you basically rendering the worm castings tea useless? The chlorine in the water is killing anything beneficial.

    What to mention first: Hat or worm poop? I want a manly version of your hat. Why don't makers of nice looking hats care about sun protection for men? I need a wider brim.
    The best soil I bought for my apartment pots had worm castings. Is it weird to have a favorite type of worm poop?

    • @LearnToGrow1
      @LearnToGrow1  5 років тому

      Hi! I actually bought this hat for my son! It was labeled for men! I actually like it better as it’s flexible and very comfortable so I borrow it every now and then , he he! We found it at Fred Meyer and the brand is Peter Grimm.
      Not weird at all! I’ve used several types or brands of worm castings and the brand I use has given me the best results, even better than my homemade one! 😊Thanks for watching.

      if you’re x-mil go to clothing sales on base; if you’re a civilian try an army/navy store and get a boonie hat

      The brim on my boonie hat is not too wide so I still catch a lot of sun in the eyes. Maybe I have a fat head.
