I think they can make some noise in the playoff this year, with the personnel/coaching on the defense and Lincoln should have an explosive offense per usual. I think this d line could be a top 5 unit in the country with the defense as a whole being top 10
I appreciate all your analysis. You look at all aspects from a very logical perspective. Love it. Fight on! I use to be a fan of Michigan until about 94-95.
I think they go as far as QB play and OL play take them, provided LR play calling doesn’t shoot them in the foot. Defense and staff should be solid to great.
Keep an eye out for Aaron Dunn on OL - going into spring practice at 6’8 290 he could see early playing time if he puts on weight and picks up the offense quickly ✌️
My expectation: Is that the 2025 Trojan team gets into the playoffs and wins at least one playoff game. This means a minimum 10-2 regular season, including some wins over ranked teams. The bottom line: Is that the 2025 Trojan team goes 8-4 at a minimum. I know that we have to keep Lincoln Riley due to the dollar structure of his contract, but another season of 7-5 (or worse) is just unacceptable.
I appreciate the analysis, we have a great chance to make the playoffs with an elite staff especially if we can have an above-average QB and OL play as a lot of teams that made it to the playoffs such as Ohio State, Georgia, Texas, and Oregon that I can think of. I want to see how well the team looks during the spring game but once the spring window opens up, I believe Rob Ryan needs to get a depth piece.
I tend to be a homer and hype us up and this has regularly failed in the past, so realistically….I’m gonna say we go 8-4 with a 9th win in the bowl game. Ls to Illinois, Michigan, Nebraska, and either notre dame/oregon (we get an upset there in one of those).
Fantastic breakdown of USC on both sides of the ball. I've said this before and I'll say it again, the effort and research you put into our team puts a lot of actual Trojan podcasters and fans to shame. I agree that the team's strength this year (and weakness last year) was on the defensive front and that has been addressed with two huge transfers and that's on top of two consecutive of young but talented classes of high school DL. Lynn did a great job last year but unfortunately a few of our losses was a direct result of allowing the opposing team to march right down the field and score a game winning TD or FG. Better front seven talent and depth, along with a less demanding schedule should help. Offensively, we were playing 2 freshmen on the OL last year and as much as I loved Murphy as a Trojan, he was a liability more often than not. Monheim filled in admirably but that was also his first year playing center. Pregnon was the lone rock, and it hurts that he's gone but I'm hoping the addition of Reed, Wingfield and another year of experience for Paige and Noa will move things forward. I do think we'll be a better running team this year simply due to more experienced bodies on the line. For those complaining about the run game in 2024, go back and watch when our most effective runs occurred--it was when defenses were playing the pass or the box was light. The line wasn't built to push people around and in key situations where USC had to run, they often struggled. Maiava should improve with another year in the system and having synergy with the 1's, and if he can become a threat to run that will help the ground game immensely. Thanks again for the breakdown!
@@lancepittman5066 I think with the addition of Strahn we should be pretty set at WR. Another OL would be good, same goes for LB and another corner. Spring portal should provide more options.
@@ckfromthebay Yeah Prince is still in the development stage since he's only played football since 2019 and is still pretty raw. Our freshman WRs may be able to step up, but like his chart shows, only two WRs have a backup. The same goes for the O-Line. Noa and Paige don't have backups. Our ILBs will obviously be coached well, but there's nobody behind Gentry and Stephens.
Zero faith in Riley with the offense, Roster/Game management but believe in the D staff and believe it improves. Both Oline and QB will be big questions next year, those are completely of Riley's making
I think the real question will be the linebacker position. They have seemed to cover some of the voids on the defense but it will come down to linebacker play. They need to pick up guys that drop into coverage and stop the run. This will need to addressed or they are going to struggle. What do u think Roc?
You talk about the defense. Wait a minute! Look at a defense that plays strange. The defensive line and LB are playing aggressively but secondary plays 10 to 15 yards off giving up 5 to 10 yards consistently. Good report keep up the good insight. Maybe with Coach Ryan his experience he can persuade Coach D to run more press secondary coverage. Attack Attack good job.
They have to get in the big dance 10+ wins nothing less. Usc HAS to finally Win a road game on the Midwest/East coast they haven’t since 2011/12. If they can win road games out east the sky is the limit
Arnold and Cobb was not athletic, slow, they were smaller and like you said they were capped.. idk why they didn't like the young guys get burn they could of been better but IDK if Riley has say so in rotation on the defense but I think the defensive coaches should determines who plays nd rotates Riley needs to worry bout offense only

Playoffs??? 7 to 8 wins won't get you in the playoffs!
@ good one, I’m dying over here

Keeping rocking it Boys! You guys are doing a great job talking SC football! Fight On Boys!!
Rock boys back on dem SC again..

Beavers is a linebacker now. His father said it on Twitter.
Should be an exciting year. Great defensive roster with great coaching.

So you're realistic now? I see 7-5 or 8-4.
Defense line is a major improvement. If they can get the pass rush going it’s a different season

Nice comment, but we still need another WR or two in the portal along with some more ILB depth. Another O-Lineman should also be addressed ✌️✌️⚔️✌️✌️

Husan QB1
✌️✌️
Your chart shows Newby as DE on player chart he is listed as a LB which is a position of need more than a DE
Raymond was 292lbs when he enrolled at USC.
Jordan will be the starting rb he has more twitch and speed with him.
If we can get Maiva to stop forcing the ball and play like he does when he is unstoppable we'll be just fine✌️ FTFO

The keys to a successful season: 1) Have a freakin' pass rush that does something 2) Commit to the run
Amen!
I like your depth chart for defense you made fasure but jide abasiri needs to be behind fountain he gotta some burn this yr
2 different positions smhk
Why dnt u have the back up linebackers
We just need some linebackers
Isn't Newby a LB?
Potential…10 wins 😂 lmk
Y is Kobe Pepe not there

Is Shelby going into his 3rd year?
yes he'll be a junior
QB1 day 1 will be hussan
