MONCHASAROTHI

'Manchasarathi' is a documentary on the life and work of prominent theater personality Mr. Ataur Rahman. Research and Directed by Mashud Sumon.
Born in 1941 in Noakhali, he has spent nearly 60 years in theater. He began his acting career at Dhaka University in 1960 and co-founded Nagarik Natya Sampraday in 1968. His notable performance as Oedipus in a 1969 television play marked the beginning of his remarkable journey in theater.
Since 1972, Mr. Rahman has directed and acted in numerous plays, such as Buro Saliker gare Roo, Hamlet, Tasher Desh, and many others. He is also known for his work as a dramatist, essayist, and poet, with several books published. His travels have taken him across continents, and he has contributed significantly to art and literature in Bangladesh.
Mr. Rahman has been honored with prestigious awards, including the Ekushey Padak and the Independence Padak (2021), in recognition of his contributions.
