I'm 34, and have finally gotten around to learning some sleight of hand and up close magic. Wanted to for years now. So I bought four Bicycle decks, came home, and started searching online. Found this video, practiced it for a week, and stumped my 13 year old son with it. Gonna keep at it and hopefully be able to fool my older brother by Thanksgiving. Wish me luck. Thanks for the tutorial.
Thank you for not editing out your drop on the double undercut... You're a real person, who in much less spectacular fashion, makes the same mistakes that I do lol Also, "calm down, it's just a card trick." So helpful. As a beginner, it feels like our whole identity as a magician hinges on not screwing up, rather than being a person who shares some magic.
Chris, I started doing this about two years ago and was getting in over my head. So I gave up. No I ran across your beginner tutorials and it seemed as if you were moving along at a pace where I could keep up and get back involved.. So I bought a deck of cards and started following along. You have brought this back into my life at the beginner level and have made it possible to gain a level of proficiency in a relatively short period of time. Thank you so much. I am subscribed.
First I learned how to solve a Rubik’s cube because I saw people doing it on YT and now I’m learning how to do magic too and this guy is really good at teaching and I also found him by his puzzle videos
I learned this card trick when I first started magic and loved it but felt I could do a little more. After picking up “The Royal Road to Card Magic” I learned the overhand shuffle control and learned to use that and find 2 spectators cards with this principal as well.
Thanks to you I’ve learnt my first card trick haha so thanks man It’s extremely satisfying to watch that card you moved around successfully sandwich itself between the Queens
I really like the explanation of the sleights. That's like my biggest problem in magic even easier ones like these I tend to avoid lol and find sneaky ways to remake a trick without them.
Have never done magic a day in my life until I found your puzzle videos which now led to your magic videos. Keep posting both cause you're making more and more of us fans!
Dude, all of these videos are amazing. My five year old daughter and I just stumbled across your channel and we can't stop watching your stuff. She loves your magic. Thanks for doing what you do
Great stuff Chris. Gave me flashbacks. I use to do this trick back in the late 70's when I first got into magic. Mad respect to you for getting me back into it.
Thanks for this trick. I adapted it and made a new trick. I'm new to card magic and learned the overhand shuffle recently and how to control cards on both the top and the bottom of the deck. I have one or two participants pick two cards. Using overhand shuffle I stop midway and have the first participant drop the card to the top of the deck then using in jog I setup a break as I finish off the overhand shuffle. I then cut at the break so the card goes to the top then I overhand shuffle to get that card to bottom. I then overhand shuffle and have 2nd participant put card on top mid shuffle, and repeat. I keep the original card on the bottom while doing the new overhand shuffle and work that new card to the top. So ultimately the two selections are both at the top and bottom of the deck. I then snap my wrist with one motion and instantly draw both of their selections out of the deck at the same time!
I came up with a couple tricks for fake shuffling the 6 9 trick, such that you keep the top and bottom cards where there are (but looks like you're shuffling), adds a bit more pizaz if you can do it. I'm a noob and I came up with it, so can't be too hard 😂
I did this trick for my students on a few different occasions, with the queens. Went great! They loved it! Easily my favorite one to perform right now and gets the best reactions. Love these tutorials!
Great stuff Chris ... I somehow got it within five minutes ... the only trick that I could do nearly after watching video... although some decks are more challenging to throw them around than the others...Thanks a bunch man ...
LOVE IT! i have very shaky hands so a lot of the slight of hand tricks are kinda impossible for me to master ;(. That is why I love these simple and powerful tricks, because people will still be amazed XD. Thx Ram
Watching this in 2018... started watching this channel via the impossible puzzles and now I'm ordering a deck of cards on Amazon dedicated to learning tricks from his tutorials.
Oh Damn!!! That 6's and 9's is Fantastic!! I just started getting into card tricks last month. Been taking weekly Zoom lessons from a Magician but honestly I am learning more from your channel than from him and will be signing up for your tutorials in a couple weeks after done w my lessons.I was just practicing that throw this morning-- just messing around not part of any trick-- But using that throw/toss in that way you taught-- that trick is great!!! Thanks !!!
You can add more twist like shuffling the card but don't let the top and the bottom card be shuffled that's why it's create more and more like a real magic.
The thing that first got me into magic was when I was in grade 3 and one of my classmates taught me a magic trick, after that we went to a few of the kindergarten and grade 1 classes and showed the kids some card tricks
My young nieces and nephews will love this stuff. That "snap maneuver" is pretty slick. Not to mention the tricksy doubling of cards. As a teen I was quite into doing magic, even shows for kids at the local library and at church. But then stopped. I've been picking up a little simple stuff here and there for all the chilluns. A baby niece was just born, so that's ... 14? I think. LOL .... And 3 are out of high school. EDIT: I had, hardcover, Dunninger's Complete Book of Magic. I gave it to another kid in church who kept up with magic after I stopped. I'm totally happy I did that, I know he continued on with magic. But I still kinda wish I had it, cuz it was pretty neato.
My dad used to do a trick like this but except using cards he drank heavily and beat our mom in front of us. Then it is probably not possible if even you had problems with it, I don't record videos anymore because of hard drive space.

I’ve seen a lot of these types of card magicians and Chris has about the best personality of all. I like how he keeps on mistakes that he makes because we make them too.
Yesssss! I watched magicians revealed back in the day and this is the first trick I learned as well! I am learning and trying to be the best ha thankfully I have an audience of my children 7 and 9 year old to think im a genius! love this channel!!
Just subscribed.. man watched a fair few of your videos via Facebook links but never paid attention to who you are.. now im addicted to your videos! The magic and puzzels yes!!!
Yoooo Chris, I know you have tips for begginers, but I have a question, where exactly do I begin? Do I study some magic, focus on specific tricks (like changes, card control, etc) I'm kinda lost, but appreciate your work man, keep it up ^^
Wow, this is actually one of the first tricks I "learnt" myself. My father showed it to me but used the 9 and 10 reds, I so so amazed because i've never seen him with cards. I was also forced to work it out myself xD
Old vid but hey! My go-to is usually a variation of the second trick which I learned from you, using jokers as they are already out of the deck and saying something about this being the reason they dont use the jokers in poker. I then say something about "going a little further" as i put their card in the middle of the deck and control it to the top or bottom and repeat the trick but just rip out their card by itself without using the jokers saying that this is the reason I'm not allowed to play cards at the casinos. I can do it with the card on top or bottom of the deck but you get a nice snapping sound if you pull it from the top, similar to the snaping sound when using the sandwich technique, and the deck is easier to control. If its done from the bottom it usually is hard to keep the deck from sliding and it doenst have as crisp a sound. If the card isnt signed i love to move into tearing it up, then give them a corner, burn the rest of the pieces, and then reveal its been restored save for the corner in their hand. If its signed i usually flow into something else . Would love to figure out a way to burn and restore a signed card though.
I love your stuff, You have unknowingly got me into collecting playing cards, I've played magic (the gathering) for a long time, and collected those, but I wasn't aware until i start watching your videos lately, sparked by a video i came across randomly, when your showing off the puzzle with NPH's cards. I immediately stopped watching the video and bought them, so i could solve it myself. I have yet to finish the puzzle, but i was a big fan of Hacker capture the flag, and that's what i love about the puzzle. PS- Its so obvious that you and Peter Mckinnon (Hope I spelled that right) are friends. Love his stuff as well, but your camera and film style are so alike. Keep up the cards stuff, I like your puzzles, but ide never be able to afford any of those puzzles that look so awesome. I played all of "The Room" games included the VR games, and I cannot get enough. Peace!
The second trick I ever learned was very similar to this except the spectator picks to card and then they put them back in the middle of the deck but you do a pinky lift between the two cards secretly and then cut the deck so one is on top and one is on bottom. then you can shuffle it, making sure that one card stays on top and one stays on bottom then do the throw trick where you slide the top and bottom one off but throw the rest and it is their cards.
The first effect I know as 8 and 9 trick. The second one I know as quick as a wink from Karl Fulves self work card tricks. Thanks for sharing though, having the knowledge avaliable to everyone for free but with the quality of a purchased product is a wonderful thing. The more people who can access materials and become inspired the better.
awesome video did a variation of the one with the two queens for my little nephew that likes batman and robin. I used a black king and a red queen to represent batman and robin, then hid the joker so that it ended up at the bottom, false cut to make it look like you're mixing it up, then had him pick whether he wanted batman to start on the roof(the top of the deck) or in the basement (bottom of the deck). Robin would then go to the spot not picked, and viola batman and robin caught the joker.

awesome video did a variation of the one with the two queens for my little nephew that likes batman and robin.
Takk Chris. Excited to start👍
