I think all kids should learn sign as they are learning words. I taught my babies sign and it helped when they couldn’t speak yet, they picked up signing quicker and it basically took out the a lot of frustration from them. They were able to communicate and it was great for all!!! You are an amazing cute family!
As a deaf person (well, severely hard of hearing tho functionally deaf.) I always think about what it will be like. My deafness stems from nerve damage caused at birth so im the only deaf person in my family as such anh kids i have will most likely be hearing. Thank you putting ur days as a family up. I appreciate them and relate.
Oh wow, 12 months already!!! She's swimming, swinging, signing... love how you involve her in so much activity, she is gonna be one fearless lady (seeing her jumping into the pool with/ towards mummy and swinging with daddy)... love you guys, your channel, your content. blessings!
Stumbled across this video and it was so enjoyable - my youngest is 6 right now but I remember these days so well. Thank you for sharing your beautiful family with us.
I grew up bilinguals like your child, so I REALLY appreciate all the effort you put into teaching your daughter both languages. I know it’s imperative, but it’s still so impressive!
When I nannied twins, we sang a song about brushing our teeth. Then they enjoyed it. They ASKED to brush their teeth all the time. I just made up a cute little song.
Yes totally! I just discovered this channel and now I’m hooked! I can’t help but smile through out. My own kids are both just finishing high school and I really miss the baby-days! 💕☺️
So cute! Love seeing you play with those toys. Everything you do is so good for her and her development. She's a very smart baby. Already signing so well and creative, problem solving play. You're such an attentive mother, judging by these videos and your Instagram. Love seeing your relationship with Madison. It's so good watch. Love your family so much 🥰🥰🥰
You are so kind to say that!!! Thank you. I can feel like I’m not doing enough at times or that I just do the same stuff and can feel guilty. This was very sweet :)
@@OurSignedWorld its amazing seeing how naturally you interact with her. Love your Montessori toy collection. She's signing so well! And so confident in the water. This is giving her a great start for communication, social interaction, and removing any dear of water she may have when she's older. You're doing great. Keep doing what your doing. This was a lovely, fun video. You and Madison are beautiful. It's so sweet seeing Zach love on her too :)
I forgot all about your channel but something made me think of you guys. I came back and I'm like I'm not used to her voice... it's good to hear you ❤️❤️
I really like the tooth brush idea! I am deaf and I work in the infant classroom. We try to brush their teeth after eating but it’s so hard because they move around a lot lol.
I need some help/advise. I have a nine month old will be ten months old on the 15th of June. I have been signing to him for several months. I have been signing milk from almost the beginning. He has yet to sign anything. I’m not sure if I’m doing something wrong. The signs I use so far are milk, drink, eat, water, all done, more, dog, excuse me, please, thank you these are just a few I try and use. I’m learning myself I bought a book on baby sign language and I try and use the signs everyday. I use milk every morning when he eats his breakfast. I’m trying to watch and see if he’s doing something at all and I’m missing it but I really don’t think he is yet. I know you are probably really busy but if you happen to see this and don’t mind offering any advise I would greatly appreciate it❤️
I did my dissertation on hearing kids with deaf parents and how they learned ASL and spoken English. I would recommend you continue what you are doing. I doubt you are doing anything wrong. When your son is ready he will begin using the signs he has learned from you. Not all babies do exactly the same thing at the same age (in months). What one will do at 6 months another will do at 8 and one at 12 months. Have fun with your signs and use them in context like you are doing and play games.
@@coltsandbows thank you for your reply! I very much appreciate it. I will keep at it hopefully it will eventually click with him that he can sign for things.
@@kalalily87 Our receptive communication skills are always greater than our expressive ones. Your son is beginning to understand both your signs and Spoken English communication. His expressive signs will emerge first. They are composed of large articulators (hands/arms) and are easier to approximate than speech articulators (small, fine motor movements with tongue placement, breath control, etc).
@@coltsandbows that makes sense. He is really good with cause and effect and has been for the last at least a couple of months now. We have remotes for lights, fan, and tv. He has learned if he presses the buttons on the remotes the lights or fan will turn on he even knows which remote controls the fan or the lights. I watch him do something to see what the out come will be for a lot of different things. He is really into touching and manipulating everything, so I’m hoping he will realize if he makes the sign for milk the out come will be he gets some milk. He does reach or kind of point to the milk when he is eating breakfast when he wants it and this morning I think he did kind of sign milk.
@@kalalily87 Sounds like both of you are doing great! Pointing is great, too. Baby signs are just approximations of the adult sign. They could range from opening and closing the fingers to maybe just wiggling the fingers.
Does she have teeth to brush???????????? I had the best leave in for long hair which made it easy for me to brush it out. It was call S Factor Smoothing Lusterizer. It was in this funny shaped bottle. I loved it. Guess what? They changed the company ownership and then changed all their products!! I could cry! They make a product still called this but it's not the same stuff. I'm still looking for a replacement. Let us know what you use or if you find something. This was sold originally only in salons then at Ulta. Now, no more. :( Boo hoo hoo.. You have long hair. I'm guessing you understand.. Cute kid.
*I don't mean any disrespect, or to presume that everyone who is deaf should try to be hearing but has Zachary thought about getting, or qualifying for, a cochlear implant? I've just seen so many videos on UA-cam with people who have been deaf all their life, hearing... Obviously you don't have to answer, if you don't want to. I was just curious.*
He’s profoundly deaf so they most likely wouldn’t work. Also it would take years to train his ears what he’s hearing. There’s also a high number of people who have chronic migraines and other issue because of the device. One of the biggest myths is that they make a Deaf person hearing when in fact the Deaf person is still Deaf, however they may be able to hear some sound. For very few they are actually super helpful and successful No disrespect taken, you’re good :)
Thanks for answering. I appreciate it. BTW, it's so cute watching your daughter learn to sign. My brother taught his daughter some signs when she was a baby (milk, food, more, etc.) It's so cool seeing babies communicate before they can speak. Thanks again.

So sweet! It melts me how much she likes to "vaccuum" with you. My son is the same. We got him a little toy one from Amazon.
What do you think are the best first things to teach a baby to sign? Or maybe most important?
Where did you get the wooden toy with the ball? That’s a neat toy!
