      www.dharmatrading.com/

      If you understand the chemistry of it, you could probably make your own dyes. I haven't gotten there yet. You can also use natural dyes, but you won't get the same kind of colors.

    What type of shirts work best for dyeing? Are thicker ones better than thinner?

    • @abiabi521
      @abiabi521 6 років тому

      Dye penetrates thinner fabrics much faster and will require less in terms of quantity. Thicker fabrics will require more dye plus it'll need a stronger concentration to penetrate the thicker fibers. Just remember cold water dyes will only penetrate natural fabrics. Hope this helps.

    thank you thank you thank you.... ive been tie dying shirts for a while now and know the design. but never really dyed it that way. gives it such a great pop. i use the same type of dye as you and it looks great and doesn't fade, thanks for being so descriptive. can you explain on how i should prep my shirts tho.. because i use soda ash and let it sit for about an hour then i usually ring it out and fold the shirt up, then dye.. would you recommend this?

    • @RoslynRags
      @RoslynRags  10 років тому

      Mike Nieto I wait a minimum of 15 minutes in the soda ash, with prewashed fabric. I spin in the washing machine, depending on the design I will put the item in the dryer under no heat and check it every 5-15 minutes until I get the material to the desired dampness, experiment. I have heard a mop bucket with the thing to ring out the mop can work as well. I hope that helps.

    Hey Daniel!! Love all of your simple instructions!! They are really clear and easy to understand. I have a question: Do you experiment with other colours on the crinkle? If so, what are they? On this one you use R. O. Y. turn over and do V. and B. and do both sides with some G. Have you had success with other combos? (Iv'e sub'd Turquoise for B and Raspberry for R.) Also what do you mean when you say you use your dyes at a 20? Thanks man!!

    • @RoslynRags
      @RoslynRags  9 років тому

      Leroy Wolfe I have a selection of 20 base dyes that I use. I have the primary Turquoise, Yellow, Fucshia. I use 4 different greens, etc. For crinkles I will try everything, dark green on one side, with brown on the other, and black on top of both can make a nice camo effect, depending on your local flora.

      Viviana Herrera I don't think so, unless you never want to wash it. you can dilute blue more then yellow. If you are using premixed dye that has sat out for a while, your colors will be faded anyway. Better to start off with new dye.
