Mayor Neil Reilly on our Extraordinary Meeting - 27 June 2024

At Thursday night’s meeting your council determined a course designed to navigate the council from the financial troubles we identified in 2022.
It has taken two and a half years of hard work and personal pain, for us all.
We have inherited problems that were decades in the making, but in that two and a half years, through collaborative work covering all aspects of council, we have unscrambled our accounts and rebuilt them into a plan to ensure our financial future.
On Thursday night we adopted Kiama Council’s Delivery Program and Operational Plan, our Long Term Financial Plan, our Budget️, Fees and Charges and our Strategic Finance and Governance Improvement Plan.
Accepting these documents will not end our journey, far from it.
It is just the start.
While we have planned our work, we must now work our plan.
This involves being flexible and responding to changes. Our Finance Advisory Committee, quarterly reviews and service reviews will assist in identifying issues we may encounter in the future.
But we have now started a new journey and it is one we are determined to tread confidently for the benefit of our community.
