Like the other comments state, that 3rd person perspective really shows the features and how difficult they are. Thanks for taking the time to showcase that.
Yepp, my first bike was a GT Zaskar LE with a RockShox Mag 21 and of course Cantilever brakes...so, yes I can still feel the pain. 😂 But nonetheless it was hella fun. Cheers from Germany.
I really appreciate the views from the bottom of the features. It definitively helps the go pro effect and makes it look like you are not just riding a green train
Looks like the trail has seen some maintenance. Glad to see a classic get some love to keep it rideable. The left hander at about 7 mins, used to be super narrow with a step at the top, nicely rocked in to keep it running smooth now. FYI, at the entrance , you used to have to ride along the log on your right and side drop onto the flat section, then the "first feature" was just roots, with a few rocks wedged in (now cemented in) and a narrow run out (ride the left edge, or drag your arm along the cliff face on your right). A true squirrel catcher start.
I "rode" this the other day for the first time! It's insane! I couldn't bring myself to do the main feature over those roots!! I was close, but just couldn't bring myself to do it! Nice work! I hope I can pluck up the courage to do it one day! I have a video of y attempt - I'll upload it soon! thanks for positing this .
Whenever I get a new bike I think of this trail for the entire bike and setup. I still can’t ride it clean and have scars from it. Nice format on the vid.
I rode this last year on a rental Rocky Mountain from Endless Bikes (great people). I think I must have spent a full hour trying to clear the roots at 3:55 and the section just after. It felt so good afterwards to get through it all in one run. The GoPro effect is mighty here!
i used to ride this trail back in the late 90s on a hardtail. its so different now. parts are so much more eroded out and there was a lot less rockwork
Showing those uphill shots really helps get rid of the GoPro effect! Thanks! Thought of this comment before I saw the other ones; unfortunately they all say the same thing.
awesome video, the walk down and different angles made the video!.... if I had just watched the on board footage I would think these trails were just tech intermediate trails :o
I've lived in North Idaho my whole life and when I travel to Wisconsin to see my step sibling's family, I'm always surprised how far away you can see without mountains blocking your view. It's crazy.
@@cameronchilders3701 It surprises me, too, to an extent. I grew up in La Crosse, Wisconsin, which is right on the Mississippi River. The whole river valley is surrounded by bluffs. They are certainly not mountains, but by comparison to Southeast Wisconsin where I live now it's worlds apart.
I really dig It! I think maybe if you like did one full run of The trail and then took a bunch of clips of The features by themselves to edit into The video would make it flow a bit more instead of The sort of stop-start-stop-start thing. I do really like it anyway though, most people would just roll over it and say "man that was really steep it probably looks easy on The gopro"
Today I rode Lower ladies only after doing espresso I should say I walked it. Cant believe you were able to ride it all! This video doesnt do justice to how steep and technical it is
@@VanCan Should do a similar vid on 5th Horseman/Wild Cherry, probably the hardest sanctioned trails @ Cypress... I think you did some Cypress stuff when your channel started actually?
I know you know how to pop a feature or two from your BMX days, so if you want a challenge try clearing the "gap" directly after the monster at 8:31! ;)
Shame that the Gopro distorts the footage so much but you can definitely tell the steepness and scaryness. Love to ride something like that some day. (I'm from the flat Netherlands :-(
Great vids. I am in Vancouver until late December and am trying more of the lower-level Fromme stuff. So much more tech! How could I do that pedal trick using flats? I can't imagine having to do a mini-endo on the wood...
@4:14 classic "Gopro effect". From up there it looks like it is not that steep and rough. When you see the actual height and steepness of that it is shocking how little of that shows from up there..
VanCan I love how much your channel has blown up. Wasn't too long ago you only had 500 subs. It's been cool to watch. Laughed pretty hard the first time you did the Van Canners thing. I was pretty sure it was a one time joke..... Now I am more excited to see if you will say it than I am for the content ( which I like, don't get me wrong).
"Laddies Only" I take it that was named sarcastically. Like to see a lady clear that trail. Great camera work showing just how steep and technical the trail is. I may need to grow some bigger balls before I try it.
That was the main attraction for this video to me. There are tons of vids from riders bombing through this but you rarely get to see a trail up close. Should do this for every trail on Fromme and branch out from there...
Just a tip don’t name every feature just ride your bike it will be a lot better content if you didn’t stop as much. No hate just some criticism you can still look at the feature but do t show everything on camera

Yes it does - but I still like the old-fashioned flowy vids =)
I like the walk-through before you hit it. It shows how freaking crazy all the stuff is
Man...I can tell how hard you had to work (on a few levels) to make this edit. Camera work, sessioning those advanced features. Well done.
Wow, 1995! Imagine riding that on a 26” rigid with cantilever brakes 😁
They were mad!
It all come down to the rider not the bike 💪💪💪

Yes sir, I tried to ride lower Ladies a few months ago, had to walk most of it. Absolutely gnarly.

And here's me having to psych myself up to do the second roll at the entrance to Floppy Bunny ...
another great ride , shows what the shore is all about , well ridden
Great video , nice to see the steep angles for once , really gives you a better impression overall than just riding it would’ve 👍🏻👍🏻
Showing those uphill shots really helps get rid of the GoPro effect! Thanks!
Thought of this comment before I saw the other ones; unfortunately they all say the same thing.
Love the multiple angles......looks super easy from the helmet cam, but the other angles show how serious it actually is.....Nice riding
Awesome video! Thanks for the walk through.
That skinny onto the rock with a sharp right is somewhat serious 😮
awesome video, the walk down and different angles made the video!.... if I had just watched the on board footage I would think these trails were just tech intermediate trails :o
Good idea to get the view from below, looks 10x better than from above, and it is still tougher looking we know in real life.
Those features are amazing. Wish we had some of that kind of terrain around here - south-central Wisconsin is pretty flat.

Nice work. Would like to see you do a full clean run for the second part of the video. Like Pinkbike Hot Lap.
lol I saw this on google maps and wondered what it was! thx for posting
Good stuff! It's on the list now.
Nice! That's a fun trail!
Wish I could go to Canada but I'm too far down in Texas. This place looks like you definitely need to bring multiple spare tubes.
Illegal trails are where all the really gnarly stuff is. Still pretty gnarly looking though.
you should come to bpw wales, similar trails, just with rocks instead of the wood!

Amasing trail!!!!! Thaks for share
Love the Gnarl.

That’s a big step up from espresso to ladies only... I got thrown around hitting pipeline after a lap on expresso when I first went.
Very nicely done!
Thanks!
Great video - thanks.
Super cool video 🤘
YT Capra still going strong? Great video and lovely trail!
This is the last video with the Capra actually
@@VanCan Oh damn, what's the reasoning for that if I may ask?
I sold it
VanCan what are you getting instead?
Looks like fun!
Great vids as always. Have you rode Cypress. It's another level from Seymour or Fromme.
Yup! I really like Cypress and the trails are next level, but also unsanctioned
@@VanCan Should do a similar vid on 5th Horseman/Wild Cherry, probably the hardest sanctioned trails @ Cypress... I think you did some Cypress stuff when your channel started actually?
I'm a year late but I would argue that empress is a more challenging trail, I've ridden ladies and empress multiple times and I think its harder.
Wow crazy technical! I wouldn’t ride it. Lol
Lower Ladies....Hated it. good hiking trail though
I know you know how to pop a feature or two from your BMX days, so if you want a challenge try clearing the "gap" directly after the monster at 8:31! ;)
I have tried and it’s hard lol

Hey bud, I love that footage. Was that taped in November?
No. September I think!
Nice work man 👍🏻
Thanks!
Hey VanCan I was wondering how you mount your GoPro to your chin bar
Nice trail!
great video👍👍👍
Would be curious to see what bike rack you use, cant decide between a roof mount and hitch mount
Personally I’d never get a roof rack. I have a Thule x2 now and it’s greet
Yup now I want to go ride 🤦♂️
I might have tried this in my prime. Now at 57 nope no way.
Nice video! I soooo wanna ride NorthShore, but its far away from Norway.
Whats a "jenk"?
Basically it’s an awkward section of trail that is hard or impossible to flow.
VanCan never heard it used before. North Shore is bucketlist stuff. I need to Get there some day!
Did they redo the entrance. In older videos I seem to remember there being a squirrel catcher, janky rock section.
The entrance was the squirl catcher in real life it looks way gnarlier.
Great vids. I am in Vancouver until late December and am trying more of the lower-level Fromme stuff. So much more tech!
How could I do that pedal trick using flats? I can't imagine having to do a mini-endo on the wood...
Which pedal trick?
@@VanCan Oh my bad, at 2:53!
I use flats. For that part I used my front brake a bit and scooped up the rear wheel with my feet.
Hey love the videos, I’m just wondering do you ever ride that Capra uphill for long periods of time. If so how do you do you like the ride?
Ya, I have, it pedals okay. It's a big bike and more downhill oriented.
@@VanCan Great vid, thanks. I have a Capra Elite and love it. More bike than I need for all mountain, but when I need it, I really appreciate it.
Where is that trail
Literally says everything about the trail location in the first 30 seconds...
Sorry, late comment. Rode Bookwus a few weeks ago, I think it might be a contender for most difficult trail on Fromme. Thoughts?
In the wet it can be pretty crazy!
Vancan go check out upper digger it maybe even gnarlier than lower ladys
I did a video riding it already. It’s pretty tricky, but I still find lower ladies a bit harder.
YOU SHOULD TRY UPPER DIGGER
peep the pit vipers
Do you think jumping the last part of the rollercoaster is doable? I’ve been thinking about it
Like the jump right after it?
@4:14 classic "Gopro effect". From up there it looks like it is not that steep and rough. When you see the actual height and steepness of that it is shocking how little of that shows from up there..
What free hub is that on your bike? Sounds good
E13
@@VanCan thanks man nice edit!
How do you mount your gopro on your helmet (sorry for the bad english in german 😅)
Sticky mount and zip ties on the chin bar.
Are you getting any positive feedback on the "Hello Van Canners" openings. Asking for a friend...
Haha, no. But I don't think about that kind of stuff too much, I just do things that are fun.
VanCan I love how much your channel has blown up. Wasn't too long ago you only had 500 subs. It's been cool to watch. Laughed pretty hard the first time you did the Van Canners thing. Nice
Hey VanCan, just curious...what is your height/weight? I feel like we are roughly the same size, but it's hard to tell from the camera.
did you crack your top tube's paint? :( , no need to say how jealous i am on the amount/kind of trails you guys seem to have there :)
Nah that’s just sticker residue.
Hardest part in north van! Lol this trail is so chill I'd consider it a single black. I swear I've seen you shoot harder trails in van
Any reason why you aren't using the hero8?
I filmed this before it was released
@@VanCan Thanks! That explains why everything is kinda dry lol
Need socks for this one
Do you Ride Tubeless?
He said he uses cush core inserts so yes he's tubeless.
slow mkv 👍🏼thanks
De-fish eyeing your footage will make it look more accurate in terms of steepness and terrain etc. great video though !
What helmet is he wearing?
A smith one. Not sure what model.
"Laddies Only" I take it that was named sarcastically.
Like to see a lady clear that trail.
Great camera work showing just how steep and technical the trail is.
I may need to grow some bigger balls before I try it.
Tip: Wear glasses. My bike coach almost lost an eye due to the absence of glasses
its looks like it got a lot smoother compared to years back.
The whole mountain has been buffed smooth. Still fun but nothing like what it was. I miss the challenging trails.
I havnt riden that trail but I have riden skull. Does anyone think that skull is harder aswell
I’ve ridden both. I find lower ladies harder
@@VanCan I'll make sure I ride it then, thanks

Pffft hardest trail on North Shore my butt. Not even the hardest trail on Fromme! Pink starfish and wild cherry would like a word with you.
Unsanctioned and decommissioned trails don’t count
This doesn’t look as hard as empress

It is annoying how much he stops
Hard to show the features without stopping!
