You must tighten the upper bolts first to 19nm then the lower bolts to 19nm. There are plenty of videos available on how to fit them correctly. I would also recommend throwing a towel over the tank to protect the paintwork. The number of times you struck the paintwork, I'd be surprised if you got away without damage.
