  • Here's how to find the OBD connector in a Honda CR-V from 1996 to 2001 models.
The connector is the older, 2-part connector with 2 and 3 pins respectively.

Roger Jenkins Thanks! I found a connector for an OBD dongle on eBay - just waiting on the OBD dongle itself to arrive. Paid around $15 for both!

Ahmad Alaaeldin Abdelkader You can’t use a Bluetooth OBD2 dongle because these cables won’t power it. You need a OBD2 to USB cable and plug it into your PC or tablet.

I had a 1996 ‘EJ’ series 2 door coupe Civic. It was on passenger side, right up top of the foot well. Just hanging from a wire loom running to centre of the dash. There are two together exactly like this video shows, in a blank holder. One had 3 pin ( that’s what you’ll need an adaptor from to a OBD2 male plug end), the other was 2 pin plug beside it. ( not applicable). Bluetooth readers DON’t work.

@@wastedpotential3038 Sorry, I gave you a bum steer. I’ve had a few Civic’s. My fault, it’s still on passenger side on that model, but tucked in behind the side cover kick board. If you stick your fingers over top edge of cover, you’ll find the blue blank that they sit in. Once you’ve pulled it out, it’ll hang parallel with base of fan motor for air con system.
