    Why can't the government call in thousands of people to cut down the surrounding forest trees to restrict the fire to a specific area and save thousands of lives ? I mean it would not be that easy but just a small step to save lives.

    • @herman8256
      @herman8256 4 роки тому

      Well i dont know if this might be correct but it might because the weather in australia is just too hot and dry that even a small peck of fire could start the fire.

    • @grantadamson3478
      @grantadamson3478 4 роки тому

      The area involved is far too big and the job too dangerous and the logistics make it almost impossible. Most people have absolutely no idea how big an area these fires cover.

    • @craigmckenzie5709
      @craigmckenzie5709 4 роки тому

      Thousands of lives? There have been 23 people tragically killed so far but it is not on the scale of thousands. Due to the sheer size of the forests and small population, clearing on such a scale is impossible. Or is this refering to animals? Cutting down the bushland would kill thousands of animals too :(

    Here are 2 main original ideas, and some less original I don't know how to submit to involved deciders: I'd suggest (dont know if some of these ideas are applied): Involve army skills and resources: (1)An earth army open-minded strategic command working with firefighters command, as this fire is by many ways like a large scale battle. (2) troops transport ressources (3) volunteer civil or army reinforcement. (4) [**Original 1**]in some dense forest cases in polulation depleted zone, consider use of artillery, to disrupt the forrest and make frontlines where the fire would be delayed. [**Original 2**] Use fire cover blanket techniques, but at greater scale: more blankets and bigger ones. More, as water logistic is certainly a limiting factor in this firefight; a blanket can be reused, water can't. But groups massively equiped with big blankets (and some water support) could handle some kinds of fires. We could also imagine long ignifuged blankets (100, 200m, 3-5m wide) tracted by motorized vehicles, and left in the way of the fire. Last idea for the moment, use bulldozers or agricultural tractors to make trenchs on the way of fires. Some strategic objectives to aim concurently: Prevent fire expansion / Protect people and goods / terminate fires. Take note it is an unconventionnal crisis, it needs unconventionnal methods to (try to) handle it. Feel free to spread the word if you find some ideas useful, or discuss it if not.

    I really hope the fire dies out soon and I feel bad for all the people and animals affected by this tragedy. I do have a slightly unorthodox idea, allow all prison inmates with minor crimes the opportunity to help with the fire at no cost (supervised of course). Those who help can get some time off their sentences for helping. Obviously no felons or violent criminals. I am sure there are hundreds who could help, even if it is just digging fire break ditches, fetching supplies etc for the trained firemen.

    It's time Australia rethinks her strategy about native Trees, and plant Fire-resistant trees as found in neighbouring New Zealand,
    at least in-between native forests. New greener strategies have to be worked out by Scientists from all fields to prevent such major catastrophes
    in the future! We have to plant more fire-resistant trees, and conserve our water resources too.
    In contrast to Australia's arid land, New Zealand is a green country!

      You'd be surprised what you actually know and what you don't know about your country. If nature has the right conditions to prevent something like this from happening then your golden.
      Just be worried when climate change tips the scales and causes the conditions to turn even a simple flame into a massive forest fire.
      New Zealand might be green, but so was the Amazon and lush areas of New South Wales Australia. Trust me, nothing our Eaths created is truly fireproof I'm sad to say. 😞

      What's interesting about your comment is that there are comments asking why governments don't control the weather so the fires could be put out. It appears to me there is a plentiful amount of water available in *_the ocean_* very nearby and we can't manage to put out fires with that. *_But we can apparently control the weather._* These are the same dolts that believe the mooncalves that predict climate change cataclysmic events into the far future (while still unable to reliably predict weather next week).

      @@jdh992 Fossil fuel interests like to bandy figures like that around. In truth their position is a lot more dire than they like to pretend. By 2025 the first EVs that cost as much or less than their petrol equivalents will start to appear on the market. In the meantime solar and wind will have gotten even cheaper and utility batteries as well.
      Right now they are all about misinformation and lobbying with only one purpose. Delay, delay, delay. They want to discourage people. Make them believe the global economy can't work without fossil fuels. Every month they can delay they make billions extra. But it's all lies. The change is unstoppable, and the change will happen exactly for beneficial economic reasons. Personally I predict that by 2035 there will be very few petrol cars left on the road. Not just with regards to new car sales. The actual global fleet. 15 years is a long time. 10 years in which EVs (superior in almost every way) are cheaper...
