I've been posting fairly consistently (tbh I've skipped a few days) but grew to close to 40,000 in 60 days! @theoverachievehers Thank you for sharing your journey though, Kayleigh - got to keep trying different things
Every time I get "down" about the algorithm, it's like something stops my spirit and says "girl engage, it's social media...get social"...and every time and I mean EVERY TIME, I get so much engagement, sales go up, all of that. Thank for this beautiful reminder.
And then if you post consistently - photographs, not reels - they throttle your reach more and more with every post. Instagram has become absolute garbage for photographers who don’t want to play the reels game. If I wanted to make videos, I’d be on TikTok.
In this world of ‘ grow 0-million subscribers in 2 months’ or so, your video is indeed a breath of fresh air. Growing an instagram account organically is very very difficult and whatever you have shared here in this video is so realistic and relatable. Your honesty is earnestly appreciated🙌🏽🙌🏽❤️❤️❤️. Your new subbie🤚🏼
I think your insights are very enlightening and encouraging. I have been feeling horrible about the lack of reach on my IG page. It has affected my mental state tremendously, mostly due to the nature of my content (inner child healing and trauma recovery). It's reassuring to see my struggles validated in a way; posting Reels for 6 months straight takes a lot of mental fortitude to do. Your comment about being social with people within your niche is something that I will start implementing more into my growth strategy. Thank you very much for sharing your experiences with us
Thank you so much for watching, and I completely understand how that feels. ❤️There's so much pressure on social media, and we want to be able to connect and be inspired on the platform without feeling bad about how slow our own growth may be! (I'm constantly looking for ways to take the pressure off myself, and make posting feel less of a chore!) I found one thing that really helped with connecting on social media was to follow other accounts with similar reach and follower counts. This really helped to start building that little community of like- minded people, and it kind of feels like we're all in it together! 😊
I know exactly how you feel! I've just started on Instagram and I sometimes feel like people are not so interested in my content (English lessons/tutorials). But i realized that many of us may feel this way at some point. We just have to give it some time and genuine dedication to reach the people who need our content. This video has pointed out some useful and relevant things that we should try! Best of luck! ^^
@@StudyEnglishwithBecca yes please, don't give up, I was in a similar situation a month ago, was thinking of quitting but then my reels blew up, now everything's goin just fun, you have to like what you're doing too, this is something that really stops you from giving up and brings you close to success
This is so spot on. Something that most of us completely forget. For most businesses, there's so much to do in a day that we lose sight of that connection and community because we're so deep in the amount of work. Create contents, post, rinse, repeat and hope for the best. Thank you for this wonderful and very genuine reminder.
Thank you so much! I truly believe that social media, (in particular Instagram,) needs that community factor back! It really can be a wonderful way to connect with others 😊
I had my account go viral with reels. It wasn’t my goal at all and happened randomly. In April 2021 I had 2000 followers and I was posting reels of flowers a few days a week and they blew up and for a year I was getting around 500-1000 followers a day. It went on for a long time and in the past 6 months it’s slowed a little but I’m now at 192,000 followers. I have a lot of thoughts on it.. too much for a comment section but I can say more followers really doesn’t mean much at all. And it’s kind of annoying having people follow you for one thing because you get stuck into a box and feel like you can only post what they like now and not what you like… In the past few months I’ve seriously considered starting a new account to start fresh. I like more of a small community feel where you actually know people.
Thank you so much for sharing your story! I definitely know how it feels to be backed into a corner with content, like you have to post the same thing over and over again. It’s so great to have more freedom with your content, hence why I actually started this channel alongside my older channel! I felt that I could only talk about photography & Photoshop related content when I actually wanted to talk about so much more than just that! I highly recommend starting a new account even as a side project, just to see where it leads you. Don’t put too much pressure on it and try to have fun with it! 😊❤️
Also it would be interesting, if you would grow to 2000 in a similar time-span or if it would be harder (or easier!) this time. Even though this would still say nothing about if it was more/less luck this time or if Instagram just changed.
I really enjoy hearing down to earth results of what's possible for smaller accounts. I think a 800 follower grow is impressive. Great work and best wishes!
I like your perspective on this. I think bringing that sense of community back to social media is really what will drive engagement and profits generated from the platform
Thanks so much! 😊 I really think it adds a nice aspect back into social media, as Instagram creators can feel so distant from their audience at times (and vice versa!)
This was super helpful! I was feeling a bit down as my content is meant to help people get unstuck - but if there’s nobody watching it , there’s nobody getting unstuck ! Time to keep pushing.
That’s the thing! If we give up there’s no chance of succeeding with what we’re doing, but even if we manage the bare minimum at times, there’s still always a chance for growth! 🙂

This is a great breakdown of results. So many of these 'I did x everyday for y months' videos don't actually show any meaningful stats, so it was great to see real numbers on a specific timeline, and your theories on how algorithms affected your path to growth. I also like that you talked about different elements that needed to go into it (engagement), and the different ideas of success (followers vs views/virality). Nice vid!

Thanks for sharing, (and watching!) It’s really disheartening to hear that you feel like there hasn’t been much growth, I’ve checked out your content and it’s really great! You seem to really resonate with a lot of people, so I hope you see the growth sometime in the near future 🤞😊
@@kayleighjunecreativethanks for the boost in confidence. I will keep grinding it out and stay true to my content and the core group that supports the channel. Thanks again and good luck with everything. Wishing you a blessed holiday season and a happy new year.
This is so reassuring. I finally decided to get serious about social media bc that’s where my customers are. 😅 Creating a lot of content and scheduling was a full-time job but now that I view it as a creative venture (I get to create my own little brand world) I love it! I definitely notice the difference when I interact with other accounts. And your comment about being social makes sense. I could stay on ig for hours looking at content on my personal page, but my business account following- not so much. I just need to find more pages that engage me so I’ll interact more. It’ll take some time to find them, but it’ll be worth it. 💓
That's so awesome! I think although it can be exhausting at times, it's always great to have that thought in the back of your mind that you're actually working towards what you want! (Which is so comforting!) I definitely feel the same way with my business account vs my travel account, I spend hours at times looking through new content on my travel IG, but I really need to reassess my business account and curate my feeds a lot more! 😅
I watched a buddy of mine start with 500 or so twitter followers and he has grown it to a little over 13k over the last two years by being extremely social with his community. The first time I spoke in his twitter space, he asked if I wanted to hop on a call and we talked for probably 30 minutes about life, creativity, and music (he's a music artist and producer). Some may say this isn't an efficient way to grow an audience, but I have watched his tribe grow online, and since I met him, he's been able to throw 7 raves in cities around the country. At the most recent one, over 500 people showed up, the vast majority of them were followers and friends that he met online. Being social and caring about the people you interact with can really take you a long way. It's not the easy road or quick, but I am super proud of how my buddy Jadyn has built such a strong community by really investing in the people that invest in him. Super cool stuff. Being social with your followers really does help you grow, but it takes time.
This is such an awesome story! A perfect example of how engagement can be such a wonderful thing! 😊 I always maintain that slower growth is often better, particularly if your audience is great quality in the sense that you’re really connecting with them. Thanks for sharing! 😊
For sure, he's built a solid foundation and I think that's a great way to do it. No problem and thanks for sharing your thoughts on your journey! Subbed @@kayleighjunecreative

Thanks for this video! I was grateful to you for sharing your realistic results! I recently came back to creating UA-cam content after six months. I had lost my inspiration and have now come back, not with the goal of growth but with the goal of loving every video I make and enjoying the process! Starting an instagram and tik tok now for a musical project and trying to learn how to start climbing that mountain (I've been an user for the past 10 years but now I'm taking this as a challenge), this was THE BEST video!!!
I'm also starting my youtube art journey and so far I secured only 3 subscribers. It was a nice feeling in the beginning but of course since I didn't know what it means to convert it into a huge number or bigger, this video for sure helped. It's an insightful video. Thanks for the tips.
Thank you for sharing your experience! I find your pov very helpful because compared to other similar videos about growing your following on Instagram, because you give a realistic perspective on organic growth without promising "go viral in 30 days" etc. Keep going!
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. It was different. I have been posting to Facebook for 2 consecutive weeks and I am seeing the same thing. Engagement is definitely growing already and reaching new audiences.
Thank you for your video! I really like having a community. I like to share my life as an expat in Germany and also my travel experiences so I’m really excited sharing it 😊 it’s been almost a week now!
This is such a nice information. I just started my IG journey, I have been posting everyday, but lacked engagement. Now, I know what I am missing and I am starting it by doing it on your page. Thank you for doing this experiment and sharing your experience here :)
That was insightful! 🙌 I have a very specific niche for my business and it definitely is taking a lot of time to build my page. It’s not until I engage with other accounts that my page gets more engagement
Thanks Nikki! I agree, I think engaging with others is really key to receiving engagement on your own work! And slower growth can sometimes be a great thing too 😊
Insightful video Kayleigh! You just came across my feed with this video and I have seen many parallels to your experience and my own journey in this context. Interaction and truly being 'social' has been a big help this past year for my growth of my community on IG. Goes back to the true reason social media was created.

The algorithm prioritizes Reels that grab attention instantly. Start with a captivating visual, a surprising question, or a funny sound bite within the first 3 seconds.
Had a reel go viral recently (3,7 million views and about 7500 new followers) but the engagement isn’t nearly as high as we would expect so we would like to get more engagement. Love engaging with other couples
It's hard to remember to do it sometimes! We're so focused on creating work and worried about consistency, scheduling, quality, that sometimes the engagement factor gets lost. It can definitely help with growth though! 😊

@@kayleighjunecreativethanks for the boost in confidence. I will keep grinding it out and stay true to my content and the core group that supports the channel. Thanks again and good luck with everything. Wishing you a blessed holiday season and a happy new year.
Thank you. Not sure how you popped in my feed here but this helps as I refine my engagement within the social platforms. Wishing you a fabulous day. 💌
No worries at all, thanks so much for watching! 🥰
(Which is so comforting!)
I definitely feel the same way with my business account vs my travel account, I spend hours at times looking through new content on my travel IG, but I really need to reassess my business account and curate my feeds a lot more! 😅
Thank you thank you for your realness. I really appreciate it. I support you 👍🏻
Thank you so much! 😊
Clever and based on your own experiences! Great ideas and inspiration, thank you 👏🏻
Thank you so much! 🥰
I always maintain that slower growth is often better, particularly if your audience is great quality in the sense that you’re really connecting with them. Thanks for sharing! 😊
Ultraviolet rave!
no way! That's awesome, I wouldn't have expected someone to recognize that lol. But yes I am talking about the ultra violet rave! @@theegrandace
For sure, he's built a solid foundation and I think that's a great way to do it. No problem and thanks for sharing your thoughts on your journey! Subbed @@kayleighjunecreative
@@ModernResilience The internet is a small place! Haha I love Jadyn so much. You're absolutely right too. Taking the time to build that community and connect on a human level is really everything!
The dedication is amazing
Thank you so much 🥰
Good for you! This was super helpful and informational video :)
Thanks Neida! So glad you enjoyed the video 🥰
Thanks for this video! I was grateful to you for sharing your realistic results! I recently came back to creating UA-cam content after six months. I had lost my inspiration and have now come back, not with the goal of growth but with the goal of loving every video I make and enjoying the process! It’s really helped but I still feel a little jolt when I gain a subscriber! 🙈🥳
No worries at all! And that’s so great to hear ☺️ Sometimes we all need that break or to take a step back when things become to overwhelming or you lose your love for it. So amazing to hear you’re back and thriving now! 🥰
Wow! I loved the information, I've been posting on my shop's every other day and have begun to flatline. Thank you!!
We appreciate the honesty and realness
No problem at all! 🥰
Starting an instagram and tik tok now for a musical project and trying to learn how to start climbing that mountain (I've been an user for the past 10 years but now I'm taking this as a challenge), this was THE BEST video!!!
Thank you so much! Best of luck with your Instagram and Tik Tok accounts! 😁
@@kayleighjunecreative 8 days only, but the "community" and "being social is key" are already proving to be amazing hints!! Specialy on tiktok!
I'm also starting my youtube art journey and so far I secured only 3 subscribers. It was a nice feeling in the beginning but of course since I didn't know what it means to convert it into a huge number or bigger, this video for sure helped. It's an insightful video. Thanks for the tips.
No worries at all! Good luck with your UA-cam art journey, that’s so awesome! 🥰
thanks so much for all your insights, I just started my journey of posting a youtube short everyday for...as long as I can 🙏
No worries at all! Best of luck with your channel 😊
Thank you for sharing this video Kayleigh, this is very helpful.
I’m so glad you enjoyed the video! And that’s so great to hear that your engagement is growing, keep going! 😊
Thank you for your video! I really like having a community. I like to share my life as an expat in Germany and also my travel experiences so I’m really excited sharing it 😊 it’s been almost a week now!
This is amazing! Community is the best 😊
This is such a nice information. I just started my IG journey, I have been posting everyday, but lacked engagement. Now, I know what I am missing and I am starting it by doing it on your page. Thank you for doing this experiment and sharing your experience here :)
Aww no worries at all! It sounds like you're well on your way to growing your IG, good luck with it! 😊
Happy for you and the brand collab!
Thank you so much! 😊
Thanks for this information. ❤ I just started my instagram experiment yesterday. Will incorporate engagement, reels, posts and stories.
No problem! Thanks for watching and good luck with your Instagram!! 🥰
@@kayleighjunecreative ur welcome ❤️
this is such a real video. This happened to me exactly and im gonna stay on it
Thank you for this! Always important to see if there's a real difference in terms of frequency of posting.
No worries! Thanks so much for watching 😊
That was insightful! 🙌 I have a very specific niche for my business and it definitely is taking a lot of time to build my page. It’s not until I engage with other accounts that my page gets more engagement
Thanks Nikki! I agree, I think engaging with others is really key to receiving engagement on your own work! And slower growth can sometimes be a great thing too 😊
This is a very honest and realistic insight into how social media actually works , great video by the way
Thanks so much! I really appreciate it 😊
Insightful video Kayleigh! You just came across my feed with this video and I have seen many parallels to your experience and my own journey in this context.
Interaction and truly being 'social' has been a big help this past year for my growth of my community on IG. Goes back to the true reason social media was created.
Thanks so much! It’s great to hear that other people are having success just by engaging more with their audience, definitely a wonderful thing to focus on! 😊
I am hoping to a do 100 day challenge.. (Day 6 as yet!) and I absolutely agree with how the progression looks like! Spot on. One of the most honest and sensible things I have heard here today! ❤
Good luck with the challenge! It’s really good to push yourself sometimes to see what you can achieve, hopefully you get some good results! 😊
I particularly love the sincerity in this video.
I am tasking myself to post a shorts everyday for 100days here on UA-cam. I’d see how much I can grow at the of the 100days.
Thank you for the insights
Thank you so much! That means a lot 😊
And good luck with your challenge, that sounds awesome! Hopefully that will bring a lot of growth 😊
Instagram is 100 % community and stronger I think than other platforms
I agree! Connecting with others on IG is so important ☺️
Thanks so much. This was super helpful. I posted a reel a day for about 4.5 months and didn’t really see any follower growth but I wasn’t focused on engagement. I’d come to the conclusion that engagement was the missing factor. So it’s helpful to hear your comments on this topic. thanks again
Thanks so much for watching! Hopefully engagement is the key for you too, fingers crossed! 😊
Thank you for this video! I love your accent, which reminds me to share what makes us unique. Thank you for the encouragement to also engage more with others!
Thank you so much for watching! I’m so glad you found the video helpful 🥰
This is one of the channels that gave me the courage to start my UA-cam channel 9 months ago about self development. Now I have 1,7445 subs and > 1k hours of watch time. I know it’s not comparable with others but I’m still proud I started because I’ve been learning so many lessons that I could haven’t learned without getting started in the 1st place.
That is so amazing to hear! Well done and keep going!! It sounds like you’re already on your way to having a thriving YT channel 😊
@@kayleighjunecreative Whoever you are, I don't know you personally but I can say that you're one of the non-judgmental and open-minded people who is not fixated on tangible or external factors in order to learn from someone like me. Just because someone doesn't have a piece of paper as a credential, doesn't mean that person is not entitled to share personal experiences with the hope & intention to inspire others. Keep up with whatever it is that you're doing to improve mankind or improving your life even to a slight degree each day. This is just one part of a bigger puzzle for creating my UA-cam channel about holistic health. I literally could have died back when I was 14 years old due to major depression but here I am right now replying to you, a UA-camr, who's full of fulfillment and dedication to help others to be a better version of themselves. I ain't better than anyone else but my old self. That's all that really makes this UA-cam thing more meaningful and enjoyable. Thanks so much for your support! I am hoping that you can join me with this endless personal development journey! :)
I liked the thing you talked about engagement. The more you engaged, the more engagement you received in return. I never tought about this :)
Thanks Diana! I really believe engagement is so important on social media! 😊
Thank you for the word! Social! I think this is where i was lacking 🥺

Very new to using instagram, just started an account for a business im trying to get off the ground. Started to youtube it to research and learn how to do things. So pleased i found this vid, hopefully u have more for me to learn from. rather hear it all in an aussie accent rather than a seppo one. First time really using instagram, hopefully it isnt too hard to get around it and become reasonably proficient at it, thanks for posting young lady
I hate putting my photos in reels lol. Props to you. I’m going to start today
Haha, good luck!! 😊
The algorithm prioritizes Reels that grab attention instantly. Start with a captivating visual, a surprising question, or a funny sound bite within the first 3 seconds.
Great advice! Thanks for sharing 😊
Had a reel go viral recently (3,7 million views and about 7500 new followers) but the engagement isn’t nearly as high as we would expect so we would like to get more engagement. Love engaging with other couples
Congratulations! Yes engagement can take some time to build, but it sounds like you’re well on your way!! Good luck 😊

Thanks for watching! 😊
Same, I am learning on ytube and insta...you are on the point 🎉
Thanks so much! 🥰
That was good clarity about Instagram feeling pointless. I feel that way, but I am not commenting or engaging, so I need to make this change!
It's hard to remember to do it sometimes! We're so focused on creating work and worried about consistency, scheduling, quality, that sometimes the engagement factor gets lost. It can definitely help with growth though! 😊
Woah, really great video here. Appreciate the advice !
