Wow, that's a lot of "umm"s. Stick with me guys, it's my first bench video and I don't use a script. Only going to get better from here! LOL Thanks for watching!
So on my k5 I trimmed the bottom of my roll bar and glued it in. Now I can install the top without removing the roll bar. I also trimmed out the rear window to give it the rolled down look
Nice! I went nuts on my K5 the past few days…. Furitek brushless system FMS and Treal metal trans gears (mixed) Injora metal driveshafts FMS metal diff gears (locked) White 3mm bright headlights to replace the yellow ones, and I drilled 2 holes behind each taillight lenses for 3mm red LED’s (2 per side). Tail lights looks so much better!!! The brushless motor is so insane, that the truck would front flip when I stopped, so I had to add 42g of steel weights in the back to hold the rear tires down. The Furitek is expensive but I caught it on sale. Still expensive, but has bluetooth adjustable parameters. But it’s almost too much power for that little truck.
@@JacksToyBox Thanks man, I'm looking at picking one of these up and leaving it as the short box pickup. I have a 77 short box 1/1 sitting in my driveway so this works out perfect
I say go for it, it's a great truck for the money and there is already a bunch of aftermarket support. The 2 speed makes it perfect for walking the woods until you find a challenge, then shifting to low for the fun stuff.
i love the truck, have added a gas nozzle and also replaced the front bumper with the "offroad" one. Also tried to fill the shocks with oil, but no chance they pop out every time, maybe i also try the 50% to 60%
Quick tip if you want to run 62mm tires they rub, but if u drill a hole underneath the stock hole for the top of the shocks u can get a perfect fitment with no rub 👍🏽 nice vid
I would suggest some adjustable links especially for the front so you can center the axle in the wheel well. I used turnbuckle style but I've seen buildable high clearance links.
I have both, scx is 1/24 and the Blazer 1/18. What size would fit your terrain better? Are you running mostly indoors, or do you go out and walk trails? Scx is single speed, while the blazer has a 2 speed. Both have headlights, scx stays on, while the Blazer can be remote operated. Scx has straight axles, Blazer is on portals. Gladiator is a lexan body, and the blazer is a hard body. If you want bigger for the potential of taking it camping or going outdoors, the Blazer is the better bet. If you're looking for indoor fun or couch crawling, scx24 will fit better. Both are capable and a ton of fun, just have to figure out what you want in a truck and how you plan on running it. And let's be honest, you're probably going to end up with both at some point. Nobody buys just one. Lol
I tend to stick with Treal wheels. There is a few sets like the vintage and type d that come with two sets of hex adapters. The wider set is perfect for clearing the portal housings on the fcx platform. Otherwise you can get some hex extenders and run whatever wheels you like.
i just got my fms k5 a couple days ago, so i havnt upgraded anything yet, BUT before i was into RC rock crawlers(i'm 42 years old, and just now starting with this) i was into miniature wargaming,, which has nothing to do with RC., except, i have built, modified and fabricated tiny model figures and vehicles, after watching this video, i'm def going to cunt the roll cage and embed magnets one half, and metal pins on the other so i can just snatch the roll bars off and throw the top back on it (also with magnets) ive put LED lights and magnets in 28mm tall space marines, i think i can modify my K5...i may actually use magnets on the body too, i bet people already have tbh, i'll have to look it up. anyways, awesome video, and i'm gonna have go back thru your vids cuz i see a lot of neat lookin Rc's back there in the background
Sounds like you've got it figured out! Part of the hobby is tinkering and building, and I always enjoy the challenge of coming up with something different. I hope you enjoy the other videos, and thanks for watching!
man, if i had the 3d files for K5 blazer parts, i could 3d print everything, i would not bother painting that interior it's printed on a FDM printer, the layer lines will look really bad if you put any colors on it, i need to get my resin 3d printer it's got much higher resolution and would not have very noticeable layer lines, i used to 3d miniatures and game pieces back in the day. 20$ for that model is a bit crazy tho, they didnt use 10 cents of plastic. nothing 3d printed should cost that much unless it's a huge model or unless it was like commissioned for you specifically. i mean i 3d printed an entire miniature army, hundreds of 28mm figures, tanks, flying machines, robots, etc, and that cost me like 27$, i had an entire table full of bits, maybe i'm biased cuz i use a 3d printer and it costs almost nothing to make things that small so when i see 20$ on it i'm like...i could 3d print like 5 lbs of plastic toys for that :O

Great video and review. Im interested in getting one of these soon.

Just got mine 2 days ago, it's a blast. Fms is always on top of their game
Sweet! Yeah they are, feature and performance packed for a decent price.
Heck yeah truck of the year, I’m waiting on my third one first modded their silver one. It’s become my favorite rig
Awesome over view bro! Thanks for the info, got stuff saved at his store already. Cheers
Thanks man! Glad you found it helpful!
Thanks for these informations, very interesting 👍🏻

hi. tell me how did you connect the rear diodes? just soldered to the wires going to the front ones? did I add a resistor?
When you cut out the back section of the cab, did I hear you right that the plastic window piece is there?
Yes it is, definitely remove the window piece from the cab before cutting and stick it back in once done.

Thanks for the great video! I love my K5, it's an amazing little rig.

Yeah Jack, first thing I did is switch the screws to the back.
Back watching again and a merry Christmas to you jack
Thanks Andy, Merry Christmas!
Yeah waiting on my interior, I also got the backseat

Great tips and info on parts for the K5. Nice job bud! Now you are making me want one even more. Dang you!
Thanks dude! I think you need to add one to the collection at some point.

Never really noticed it but out of the box it does sit back slightly in the wheel well. The lighting in the video didn't help.
I noticed it in the initial videos before it was released. Biggest bonus about moving it forward, no rubbing even with large tires
Good video buddy! Don't let the umms and uhhs slow yah down...that's part of your vocab.. cant make fun of his langish😂
Lol, I didn't even realize until I went back and watched. It's my first one, can only go up from here.
Want to get into the crawler hobby. Tryint to decide on the scx 24 gladiator or fms blazer. What do you think. Trying to get some opinions

awesome tips thanks
Thanks for watching Jeff!
Hi Jack, which tires and rims would you recommend -any Link ?

It is Christmas Eve whoops one minute after midnight well merry Christmas day
How did you manage to put the tire in the back without falling out? 1:44
I originally hot glued it in, but after bouncing around on the trail I ended up drilling a small hole in the bed and bolting it down.
@@JacksToyBox ohh ok thanks 👍🏽
What battery are you running? Stock?
Yes and no, same battery just a 600mah for longer runtime. It's snug but it fits in the factory location.

What is the secret getting the top off the bed? I've afraid of breaking something.... lol
Look for 4 screws on the underside of the bed.
@@JacksToyBox Thanks! I found them!
Sweet!
A K5 Blazer didnt have a rear window. If you renove rear cover there was like a rear seat competing with the Jeep CJ style
Oh I know, been one of my main complaints since day 1. Lol
Thanks for the link
No problem!
😂 I don't think anybody uses the roof rack, mine is still safely in it's bag, unopened
You forgot about all the Uhhh's😂
I'm working on it! Lmao
