Harley Passenger Peg Install WITHOUT Removing Exhaust!

- How to install the Harley Passenger Peg kit WITHOUT having to remove the exhaust. Harley Passenger Pegs should be easy to install, but they're not! According to the service manual - for a lot of Harley Sportsters and some older Dyna's, installing the passenger peg kit involves removing the exhaust heat shield, exhaust pipes, part of the engine cover, and the exhaust bracket. That just sounds exhausting - and it's totally unnecessary. I'm going to show you a trick in this video that will save you from having to remove and replace the exhaust just to reach that one bolt on the passenger peg kit for your installation.

I know this videos is very specific to you Harley owners, so for everyone else I have some good gear reviews coming up. Just hadn't seen a good way to do this on UA-cam, so I wanted to address it for those who might need it.
Yes i wanted it too ❤❤❤❤
Man your the best....just bought a 48 today and need to do this install....cheers from Newfoundland Canada
Congrats on the new bike! Glad I could help you out. I've been to Newfoundland once before. Beautiful up there! Ride safe brother😎✌🏻
I have a Road King and an Iron 883.stg 1..always wondered if there was an easier way , have avoided it up until now...Thanks for the video. I do sub and watch your video's , just don't comment most times.
Good to hear from you! Hope the video helps if you try to install the pegs :) I love the Road King. If I ever upgrade the Harley to a larger bike it would probably be the king special. Thanks for watching!
This was a very helpful video. Thank You.
You're welcome! Glad I could help.
Brilliant my friend!! Gonna try this with my Indian Scout bobber with Vance Hines grenades right in the way. My concern is I don’t have the right tools to make a clean cut of the Allen key any suggestions?
An inexpensive hacksaw blade and sand paper from local hardware store. Hacksaw cutting by hand will take maybe 15 minutes but it should be clean, then sand off any burrs.
@@MOTOBLADE thank you for getting back to me, however, I don’t have enough height clearance between my Vance Hines grenades, and the foot peg mount. I need some kind of an elevator that would bring up mound, approximately 2 inches. Maybe you or one of your viewers has had the same dilemma? Girlfriend is waiting lol I’m not patiently.
I'll be doing this. Thank you!!
You're welcome! Glad I could help!
Were you able to do this without removing the rear master cylinder?
Yes. Never touched the rear master cylinder.
Could you link where you got the pegs/hardware from please? Thank you!
My thoughts is putting a ratcheting wrench over the sheared hex head
EXCELLENT idea. Dang it why didn’t I think of that 😂😂
I was just thinking the same thing , what size hex is required please ?
Thanks
Thank you, bro!
You’re welcome!
Smart!
Thanks! Laziness breeds ingenuity. I really didn't want to take the exhaust off again 😂
It would be nice if you can show step by step for both sides
There’s no issue putting the pegs on the other side because there is nothing in the way. It’s only the right side that is blocked by the exhaust. Left side goes on in 2 minutes or less.
Bro I love you brilliant
Thanks man!
Surely it’s faster to remove the exhaust
🤣 yeah, sure!
After cutting Allen keys and all that monkey business, you can have the entire exhaust off and you won’t have to ruin a perfectly fine Allen key.
To remove the exhaust and get at the head gasket bolts is a pain in the butt. Plus the heat shield removal, plus o2 sensor removal. Allen keys? I have a drawer with hundreds of them. They’re cheap. Way faster and easier to do this. Have had to take the exhaust off before, so I know what it takes. Why I made this video to give people a different option.
@@MOTOBLADE I get ya. If you have sacrificial Allen keys and a difficult removal of the exhaust this way would be an option. Take care and thanks for the video.
@@philweed1603 you’re welcome! Yeah if I had an easy to remove exhaust I would take the extra time. But on this bike? Nightmare. Will look for almost any alternative before I have to touch that exhaust again 😂
Thank you sir😂❤❤❤❤
You’re welcome. Glad I could help
lol I just didn’t bolt in the bolt I couldn’t bolt down
That works too I guess 😂😂
We are not liberal except when it comes to thread locker "Loctite" is a quote I'll save for my son 😂
I’m glad I could impart this wisdom to the next generation 💪🏻🇺🇸😂
Regretfully, although it’s a great trick for your Harley, for my eagle scout bobber with Vance Hines grenades there is absolutely no way to put them on without taking the pipes off. If anyone has any ideas, I’m fresh out unless maybe using a shorter screw, but that could compromise the stability.
What seat is that?
Looks like cc rider, if not you can get one for around 200$ instead if 500$ for lapera or Corbin but probably not as comfy idk mine won't be here until the 24th
Wtf size Allen on the other side
Honestly... Just take an hour, take your time, take the exhaust out and do it correctly.
What you're doing seems like a hassle to avoid another...
